the only way it would have been better is if I were able to be there in person. such fitting selections.

Hey guys, I was able to atttend the game/concert.... it was AMAZING! For those of you that don't know, it was opening the New Orleans Saints (american) football game. The Saints and Green Day are two of my FAVORITE things ever, so you can imagine how pumped I was. Also, I live 30 miles north of New Orleans, so it had that close-to-home effect.

Also, it was so cool how they implemented New Orleans into the song so much. They mentioned "The Lower 9th will rise again from the Lake Pontchartrain" (the Lower 9th Ward was one of the harder-hit areas of Katrina, and Lake Pontchartrain is the lake that New Orleans is next to).

I know it's probably hard for yall to understand, but Katrina left a pretty big imprint on my life, along with thousands of others. And for bands as monumental as Green Day and U2 to open the FIRST GAME BACK into the Superdome (which held 9,000 who were unable to evacuate during the storm, and it became a toxic landfill)... it's a dream come true.

I'll post some pictures later. Thanks for the support!

glad you were able to have a bit of fun.

Then five minutes later you said you haven't heard the song yet so you couldn't judge it.

That wasn't making much sense to me.

At that time i had heard the Original, but not Green Day's and U2's version.

did they ever play halftime?

Nope, they just re-aired about a 45 second long clip of their performance from earlier on.

probably because House of the Rising Sun mentions New Orleans

and it's a good song.

Check out your fucking music history sometime. You'll find it under 'The Animals'.

... and it's also in my 'American Favorite Ballads: Tunes and Songs as Sung by Pete Seeger" guitar book.

Yes, The Animals made the song popular, but it's actually an old folk song which was originally recorded decades before The Animals did it. Just to add to your music history. :)

By the way, "house of the rising sun" is a euphemism for brothel (whorehouse).

hehehe ^ yeah I forgot to mention that bit about the brothel.

Yeah so "The Saints are Coming" made my afternoon at work making sandwiches soo much better. It played in my head the entire time. I can't wait till I can get an mp3 of it.

"There is a ouse in New Orleans, The call the Rising Sun. Has been the ruin of many poor girls and me, Oh, Lord I'm one." and then it goes on about how awful her life is because of it and such.

for those living outside the US who want to download the track, its being worked on. apparently they are having problems finding a company who can host this and donate 100% of the money raised to the charity.

single and video in about two weeks.

I'd just thought I'd make it clear and say that the picture my friend sent me through his cellphone was not from the video. He got front-row seats and his camera has a "zoom" option (notice the crappy quality; it obviously tells you it's an amateur picture). Why would I lie?

A lovely lady from Music Rising has advised me that we have to check with them in a couple of days as they're trying to resolve the downloading problem for us people outside the USA.
