I believe I'm going to have to marry you now, Angeline

I have to say, I agreed with every word of that.

I agree with that. Everyone wants to see Green Day fall flat...even some of their own fans...and are all too quick to point out a mistake or to critisize. At the end of the day they're only human, like us.Who can honestly say they have never forgotten somone's birthday before? And this doesn't really come close to that.

I don't understand why people are upset over this....I mean it's my website, and I'm not even upset. Yeah, it would have been nice for something more than autographed picture, but hey, it's better than nothing. It's better than having them think that we're just like the other fans that scream when they see them and only can tell them how hot they are.

For me, with this site, most of my goals have been accomplished. The site is probably the #1 site on the Internet for Green Day. It's fan oriented and it's not a carbon copy of the other sites like greenday.net or greenday.com. The site has been up for 5 years, and it's going to be much more than that. And the #1 goal I have accomplished, I've met the band and they recognized me and my site and the work I've done. That's enough for me. I'm sure I'll meet them again in the future.

I don’t disagree with anything you said, justcause. I’ve admired and supported Green Day for a long time and will continue to do so. Not that I would expect anyone to notice, but I’ve rarely criticized them and I’m usually in the position of defending them.

Unlike a lot of people on this board, I don’t consider them sellouts for being smart businessmen and using their talent and hard work to not only do the work they love, but to gain financially. They’d be fools not to.

I recognize that over the past two years especially, they’ve been under intense scrutiny and pressure and it can’t be easy to deal with all of the aspects of worldwide fame. However, I can also put their situation into perspective in relation to most people who work for a living. They are doing what they absolutely love and they are getting hugely rewarded for what they do–artistically, emotionally, and financially. Most working people can’t say that. They’ve worked extraordinarily hard to be in the position that they’re in and from what they’ve said, they are happy to be where they are.

That’s why my feeling toward them isn’t “Geez, poor Green Day.” I surely feel bad for them when they’re faced with crazed teenies when they’re trying to have a relaxing evening out with their families, but they’re grown men who’ve been down this road before and they know the reality of fame and popularity. They’re in an exalted and privileged position which is well-earned and deserved, and they seem to be living the life they want to live. I’m not shedding any tears for Green Day..

I was disappointed that they didn’t recognize the people who run the most amazingly comprehensive and extensive Green Day site on the internet. If anyone would appreciate hard work that has great results, I’d think it would be Green Day. The excellent work that’s been done on the GDA helped bring about GD’s success. Besides being a wonderful PR opportunity, it would’ve just been a lovely gesture of appreciation and gratitude for the enormous amount of work that benefits Green Day more than anyone. Could this one small gesture have been the straw that broke the camel’s back and sent any or all of the members of Green Day over the edge? I highly doubt it.

Would I expect them to go to extreme or even slightly inconvenient means to make such a gesture? No, not at all. That’s why I used a brief audio message as an example of what they might have done. Something easy, simple and quick, but still nice and gracious. Even a brief note or email would’ve done the trick. Any small gesture would’ve been nice. Certainly not required, but nice. I feel sad on Andres’ and Courtney’s behalf that there was no communication with them. If anyone deserves a pat on the back from Green Day, it’s them.

On the other hand, if their manager didn’t tell them about GDA’s anniversary, then the point is moot. I find it hard to believe that no one would’ve told them about it, though, considering the positive feedback about GDA given by some of the people working closely with GD. It’s surely part of someone’s job to keep an eye on the major fan sites and keep abreast of what’s going on.

Anyway, kiddies, all this huge-ass essay is trying to say is this: Green Day doesn’t owe anyone anything. It just would’ve been NICE to recognize all the work this site does for the fans of Green Day and for Green Day themselves.

and we all have nothing left to discuss, because the AI era is *hopefully* over for good, and we're waiting for a new album.

and i say hopfully, because i hope the AI movie isn't blown out of porportion into "green day's movie", but " a movie loosely based on the album american idiot".

over? your sadly mistaken. i think its a new green day Era.

and i guess its a little dumb to criticize em, i was a little harsh. i mean, they probly didnt even know about the anniversary. i just think you shouldnt be too big of a fan to begin with, cus after all, it is all operated by warner brothers, and we have no idea whats real and whats fake. i think you should just enjoy the music, and ignore all the image tricks.

lol You're working just fine...I was thinking in the frame of mind of that I was the only one who met them...I should have said GDA, because quite frankly, I don't know what I would do without you and everyone who helps with this monster of a site. I hope we all get to meet them, esp you. If anyone is deserving of it on the GDA, its you. And I think that you will def. meet them in the future.

Yeah I'm sure I will too. I guess the point i was just trying to make was that I would've probably appreciated something on the anniversary a little more since I haven't had a chance to talk to them. But at the same time i'm not heartbroken over it, because I don't work on GDA to see what I can get out of Green Day for it.

the mods shouldve made up some big story about how billie joe was coming on here for a half hour for the 5th anniversary, then just make a mod pretend to be him. that wouldve been cool!
