let the people to have their own opinion

That's right. But when you have 17 pages if people repeating how dumb Tom Delonge is it's just getting annoying. I think they shouldn't post if it's just to say the same thing as the other.

My god...what is so bad about American Idiot? You all act like it's a crime Green Day ever came out with that record. Oh yes, teenies followed when this album came out, doesn't mean we are all like that. It is a great album, I have no problems saying that.

It's not the teenies, it's I dont like the album

um.. i think people are taking this a little too far... i mean its not like he swar death on them or something. he even said that they inspired him. but it didnt touch him cuz it isnt his type of music, that doesn't matter! loads of people say that Green Day isn't their type of music

From your sidebar, I'd say you were 13 (Being what the sidebar says). That would make you a "teenie", dear. See, the thing here is that you're too young to have been into Green Day during the Shenanigans era (which is the most recent). You would have been 9 when the CD came out, and sorry, but I don't know many 9-year-old punksters (correct me if I'm wrong). What would make more sense is you hearing about AI when you were 11/12, buying the CD, then buying their other stuff.

So whether or not you're a "teenie" is based solely on age?

i would like to say something on this topics so heere we go

first off For all of the people saying that green day did influence tom and that he only changed his mind cause of what they said well you are dead wrong i am a huge blink-182 fan and i happen to love gd too and i have the unofficial biography of b182 and it mentions that tom was never into bands like green day, now also on the green day front im sure gd is better at playing music live because they have been doing it longer but im not really sure as ive only seen bullet in a bible.

and for all the people that hate american idiot because a bunch of "teeny boppers" started to like them well your dumb it was still a kick ass record not the best in the past 5 years but still really good. but i do prefer older stuff like warning, nimrod, insomniac.

alright thats what i have to say take it as you will

*To highground* I don't know how to make the quote thing smaller. So here. You said that A.I sold 5.4 Million copies. A.I has sold more than that in America and Canada alone.

American Idiot has sold 12 million copies worldwide.

I think the 5.4 you pulled out is related to America. And here's the proof to back up my point.

You people seriously need to stop caring about what people say about

Green Day, every band gets it. They're just words. You have nothing

else to bitch about so you go and pick on Tom Delonge. Who cares what

he said. It hasn't killed anyone! Nobody is hurt. Seriously build a

bridge and get over it, its wasting time and effort bitching about

plain and simple shit. Who cares if he's never heard American Idiot.

I actually wish I had never bought American Idiot, it killed Green Day

for me, I like them as they were before American Idiot. If some one says

something about Green Day, fucking ignore it. stop bitching. Your all

saying he's up himself, reading all of the posts in this thread makes

me see this forum and its members differently. I won't be coming here

any more.

Promise?

You're right. I re-checked my source and it said US only. (But my other figures were dead on with what that site said).

-edit

And after looking at your profile, all of the music you listen to is very pop-culture. Not hope-inspiring in the least.

Teenie has less to do with age, and more to do with attitude. Honestly, you seem a bit draft - just because someone gets into a band during AI doesn't mean they are an automatic teenie. 99% probably are, but if there are that 1% that go back and discover and like the older music and love the music for the music, not the look, then they certainly are a teenie. Stop being so quick to judge about stuff you don't know.

And I love how you convienently forgot to respond to my post.

Quietus, since I'm tired of quoting, I'll respond directly. You know what you said. :P The only part of your argument I have issues with is the Jesus thing. It does seem like Billie's trying to say he's some sort of martyr. I don't know. I could honestly be looking way too far into that one. And Tom never said that Green Day didn't influence them. He said "I'm inspired by Green Day's success, but their music doesn't really touch me. It's not my kind of music." As in, he's outgrown Green Day. He's inspired by the fact that they're successful, but he's just not in to them, anymore. It no longer "touches" him. He never said, "No, Green Day never influenced me." I imagine it could be taken like that, but then a lot of stuff Green Day does/says can be taken in different ways.

I "conviently forgot" nothing.

I "conviently forgot" nothing.

I was looking for a quote, silly me. Anyway to respond:

Honestly, I never thought Billie was acting like a martyr, but you know what, maybe he thinks he is. It's really not a big deal either way, he's not coming out saying "worship me, I am the son of God, I am better than all of you." If he wants to play martyr of (punk) rock and roll on stage, let him have some fun.

But moving on, I really find it hard to believe Tom. Let me put it this way, if you are influenced/inspired by something, it should touch you. Or should have. Tom makes no reference to it EVER touching him, he acts like it never mattered to him, when that seems silly to say if you were on Influenced: Green Day. XD

FUCK YOU!

tom delonge is god and blink is a million times better than green day. ive liked green day since i was 4 and ive liked blink since i was 5 so ive liked green day longer and ive seen green day twice but ive never seen blink. and i still think that blink is better they are way funnier and their music is happier to so dont fucking diss blink ok? half you assholes probably havent heard blink or dont know shit about tom. hes going through a really tough time right now and has a billion problems and isnt in AVA for the money he is in it to make music he believes in so unless you have a problem with that than fuck off.

love, josh

Wtf?! Blink wouldn't even exist with out Green Day! Remember back when Tom wasn't being as much of a dumbass he said something along the lines.

You think because the music by Blink is about a 1st date & because (one of) Green Day's is called BOBD that makes it better? you gotta be kidding me...

About "dissing" blink um it's called freedom of speech.

Whatever though believe what you want.

Edit : WTF?!*

Seriously, he is such a dick! All the guys from Blink have said that Green Day are a major influence on them.

But obviously, now Tom Delonge is the greatest thing in the world  , Green Day are nothing in comparison.

And who here actually believes that he hasn't listened to AI? And if he really hasn't listened to AI, then that just proves his ignorance, considering that it is one of the best and most important albums of the past 5 years!

 In the words of my father... "What a fuckwit!"

Fuckwit, what a great word :woot:

I concur, well said

Fuck tart, ANOTHER great word :woot:

Apprently to them.

I'm really starting to hate the word teenie & all the call them that.

It's stupid! why waste your energy even saying it?

For all the crazyed 12 year olds that love bIlLiE jOe (i hate that typing..) I think we should leave them alone.

Fuckwit, what a great word :woot:

Fuck tart, ANOTHER great word :woot:

haha

While, I agree that Tom has been on a "high-horse" lately...I still owe blink to my introduction to punk music. All you kids who are saying "ya, i've listened to green day since I was 4!!!" no you fucking didn't. At least not in the way you listen to their music now...at 4 you can barely understand what most words mean...so don't try and play it off that way.

The songwriting of the blink trio, in my opinion, surpasses gds. More so with their last album. So much diversity, and sweet ass songs. Not all of blinks songs are about fucking dogs ya know. Try listening to songs that aren't their singles, and you'll find one of the best, well written love songs ("Going Away To College"), and and messages about life ("Lemmings" and "I'm Sorry")

Most people say "well Green Day created the first punk rock opera!" No, nofx did...6 years before GD with "The Decline"

Stop saying they copied Green Day. They wrote songs and created a band before punk was big, just like GD and a ton of other bands.

Blink also managed to evolve and grow with their last album..but also stay true to who they were.

Green Day became a scripted act.

I love GD and all, but blink will always be the best band to me.
