my coolest story is that in 1991 (i was about one . . . damn i wish i would have been older) my mom met green day in my hometown corpus christi when they werent huge yet. so her best friend liz was dating a member of a band called sweet daddy and they were playing with green day that night and during the show green day took off their shirts but it was aginst some really gay rule the place had so the manager shut the power off and green day just left b/c they refused to put their shirts on. so later liz, my mom, some other people and green day were all smoking pot on some couch in some warehouse right behind the police station. then later they were all gunna go to the mall but my mom said nah b/c she wanted to get home to see me.

i always freak out when my mom brings it up b/c she plays it off as no big deal b/c "i dont know they werent very popular then"

What a cool story!

I met Adrienne in Oakland. does that count? :/

I've gotten so close to meeting them 3 times

At their show here in '04 they had an after party and meet and greet sponsored by Fuse and Steven from steven's untitled rock show was there and everything. so I went for about 5 minutes and decided that if I ever meet billie joe I didn't want it to be for 2 seconds with a table in between us. I don't care about his autograph. I want to have an actual conversation with him.

Another time was after their show here in '05. My friends and I went to the taco bell near the venue to rest after the show and since it's open 24 hours there were about 200 people inside from the show. We didn't stay very long. A few days later I was reading reviews from the show on greenday.com back when they had the reviews section and there were about 6 different reviews from people talking about meeting billie and adrienne at taco bell after the show! I was so pissed I missed him.

The last time I saw billie joe was stuck in traffic in oakland. I had to do a quadruple take because I just couldn't believe it, but his window was down and I heard his voice and everything.

wow that's an awesome story...it almost doesn't sound real! XD

Believe me, it's true. I met some wonderful people in the queue (four of them star in the Bullet in a Bible dvd as a matter of fact) who are now very very good friends indeed. Some of them even call me Mum.

Me and my man (aged 46 and 47 respectively) got into an invited audience only gig that we weren't invited to at the BBC studios in London, ending up on the barrier right in front of BJ. I was in heaven. Being there was wonderful in itself, but actually making eye contact with my heroes in such an intimate venue takes some beating. I exchanged smiles with Jason White, who was on lead guitar whilst Billie Joe was leaping about on the tiny stage. I hoped he was going to land at my feet, but he didn't.

Billie Joe did a real cartoon style double-take when he spotted us during one of the breaks in filming – off balanced by our advanced age and my bright purple hair. I mouthed ‘All ages!’ to him, pointing to the part of my arm where he bears a tattoo of those very words. Billie grinned and nodded, mouthing “That’s cool”. I don’t care if he was laughing at me or with me, I made him smile. At one point, Mike Dirnt lip-read my comments about his brilliance and rewarded me with a trademark wink, a beautiful smile and a double thumbs-up. I still get goosebumps now thinking about it

On the broadcast tv footage, G and I are clearly visible (for a nano-second!), having the best day of our lives, without a doubt.

My friend went to the outside gig of that.

Billie flipped the finger at her cos she kept asking him what happened to Paris and then during JOS she emphathised singing ..."Everyone's so full of shit, born and raised by hypocrites"

She was so proud haha.

I'm just copying and pasting this from the "Most cherished Green Day memory" thread:

Saw them in... 2001 I believe.. in Wilmington, Delaware. They completely destroyed the set... drums, guitars, everything. While they were destroying the set, I asked Mike (being front row) if he would give me his guitar. He nodded yes and smiled at me. At this point, they pulled out a few instruments, and played Waiting... ("I've been waiting a lifetime for this moment to come"). After the song, Mike rummages around the stage, and finds the end of his guitar that had broken off when he slammed it through the speaker. He come down, and in front of the entire crowd, personally handed it to me. After the show, I went to their bus, and thanked him for it. He then thanked ME for being such a huge fan.. saying he watched me throughout the show, and knew I was truely a fan and thought I deserved it. Then Billie and Tre signed it for me, I talked to them for a bit, and was a happy happy man.

Then this [2005] year, for the second AI show I went to, I got some VIP pass, and got to go in, with about 20 people in the building, and watch sound check. It was like our own little private Green Day show. The talked to us, and played. It was great. After that, we went to the VIP room until the show started.

I wasn't exactly part of this, but I guess I'm kinda connected to it in some way...

My cousin's boyfriend worked a the venue where Green Day performed.

I didn't really like Green Day at the time though, so yeah, too bad for me (I could've asked to get good tickets).

I went backstage at Warped Tour through tickets I got from Adrienne when I was running the bands site. She told me before hand that Billie was expecting me and to go say hi to him. So I get backstage and Billie is sitting in a circle of guys from Nofx, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, the re-formed Sublime (whatever they were called), etc...and I just chicken right the fuck out. I go up to Billie and nervously interrupt him in the middle of a story he's telling the group and ask for an autograph. He didn't say a single word to me and I fumbled around with the shirt I was getting him to sign and later looked at it and found it was signed upside down. Pretty crappy meeting with the band but it was a great show so no regrets lol

Side note: also had backstage passes at Edgefest and couldn't find the band and also in Toronto at a promo gig and wasn't allowed backstage because they had trashed the stage and broke lights and shit and the venue wanted them out.

Mmmm coolest Green Day story?

Billie Joe asking me to go to the Crockett Foxboro gig and giving me directions?

Tre licking my hair?

Billie Joe coming over to me on stage and giving me a kiss right on the lips?

Mike spotting me and shouting 'Go Ireland!' at me?

Billie Joe's mum buying me lunch?

I'm afraid I can't decide :D
