Nopers. Swearing is cool and fun and badass. They have to sweat because they are punx.

They shouldn tlimit or stop cursing cause it adds to their music. If you are really pissed off you're not going to care whether you curse or not and its also a way to vent anger. Plus parents should know what they're buying their children (PARENTAL ADVISORY STICKER '-.-) And lastly i learnt to curse on my own thanks to general shitness of my life not cause some band said fuck on the CD i was listening to.

Tbh if they suddenly did start limiting their swearing all of a sudden, it would be an obvious succumb to the masses just to get more plays and parental friendly music. And that ain't the Green Day we know or love. They do what they want, don't like it, stick it.

to be honest...I really don't care....if they'd quit it I'd be okay with it if not still cool :)

They want to swear, they can damn well do what they please

If they start changing themselves so more people buy their music and like them then maybe ill start thinking they are sell-outs, by changing themselves for money/popularity

But if thats how they want to express themselves then they can sure as hell do it

Like billie said in his letter - he writes music for himself and nobodys forcing anyone to listen to it

Plus there is the parental advisory label to warn people so there is nothing to complain about

No, it's just words. Its not like the try to be offenisive for the sake of being offensive.

actually my reply was "Fuck No!!"

My first thought exactly.

People are just overly sensitive and PC nowadays. That's what the parental advisory sticker is there for, so if you don't like it, don't get it. (Although, your kids will buy it anyways...)

Im pritty sure green day dont put swearing in there lyrics for nothing. Its in for a reason and limiting it is not going to get the point they wont to get out so my answer is no.

Tbf they don't even swear that much during songs. They swear more just during general banter at concerts

What an amusing thread.

This is true . I never think of them as being big swearers. When they do use swear words they do it well though, they know how to use them

Billie ought to stop using 'suicide' in songs before they stop swearing. Once you listen out for it, it gets really annoying.

Besides, it not like they're this unknown band and there's no stickers on the front of the CD's.

Pff, no. I don't even thing they swear that much in their songs. Most swearing happens in interviews and at concerts. If you don't like it, don't listen to it.

Personally, I don't care. I know that my parents don't really like swear words, but they didn't say anything about Green Day swearing. Except when they listened to the show this summer (cause it was outside so you could hear it everywhere in the Old Port in Montreal), my mom made a comment about Billie saying "fucking.... and fucking..." all the time.

That's true. This word always come back (like in the song he wrote for the musical, he used it again).

Ha ha! That's cute! I mean, sometimes it gets annoying, but Tré and Mike are saying it too (maybe not as much as Billie though).

Why would this be such a big deal? They're just words. So what if they offend some people, they are grown men, if they feel like swearing then they can fucking swear.

Nooo, never. It wont effect how often or even if a child would use that kind of language by censoring it or limiting it. I know that I for one didn't pick it up off Green Day, it was my parents, and one of my grandparents who swears too much for his own good, and as well as that, it's something you pick up just being out on the streets.

As well as that I don't see the point in classing swearing is "bad" or "offensive", completely pointless in my opinion, it's just as "bad" or "offensive" as plenty of other words which wouldn't be classed as swearing but still equally as offensive.
