I do not think that they swear too much at all, i have albums that are far more profound than them. They do swear lots at concerts but too bad. Parents banning kids from hearing that stuff doesn't work they swear anyway. I personally think that people have more important things to complain about than a little swearing.

exactly my view.

wtf? Green Day can do what the fuck they want! If ppl dont want 2 listen to swearing..don't buy the cd! They have explicit content on it for a reason. Plus compared 2 a lot of music green day has very few swear words! PPL GET OVER IT!

No. Green Day isn't childrens music. There's a parental advisory on it, if the parents have a problem with swearing, see the PA label, and still buy it for their kids, thats their fucking problem.

SURE, WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER!!!!!

that would be a sure sign that there is no real music left in the world

and Green Day will NEVER limit swearing because that is just a sign that they have become totally mainstream pop-punk-rock band and will never last with only the dumbass posers listening to them

to quote Billie from the infamous "letter": "Idon't write music for parents, grandparents, or 8 year olds. I write it for myself and I can say anything I damn well please"

nope. I wrote an essay about that to my english teacher. it's kinda like well fuck people swear and in cds there are swears not just in Green Day cds. Look in your platypussing high school should there be an advisory label for younger kids not to walk into the school because of swearing. You hear it on the news, at home, school and in music but the only thing in those that has an advisory is music and that doesn't make sense to me. If you're going to try and stop something you have to stop something from occuring you have to stop it everywhere not just in music. Fuck the people. As my cousin said, Green Day or any punk music wouldn't be the same without swears. It makes people feel somewhat understood. I know it's a poor choice of language and I say platypus instead of fuck sometimes but come on it's just a word and if you don't want to hear it don't even bother looking in the alternative section. If you don't like it stay away from it and mind your own damn business.

What I don't get is why they barely get any trouble for the intensity of the hate toward Bush or whatever, and people flip out hearing curse words.

But I don't think anybody should swear just for the heck of it. Swearing should be used to emphasize something, not like everyday, "pass the f ing butter." I don't know if Green Day does that, but I know a lot of people who do, and when I get irritated, they accuse me of being uptight.

my english teacher says "if you cant find a better word, and it'll lose meaning if you dont use it, then use it" and i agree. but if it's like "so this fucking guy came up to me a few years ago and asked me for my fucking autograph and i fucking gave him it just because i like to do that shit...you fucking know?" <- that's just dumb. it makes you sound dumb. but if it's showinga feeling, like say anger...then i think it's appropriate. like "i fucking hate you". if you cant take the ef word, then you shouldnt be out in society. oh yeah...and to answer your question, i think green day does limit their swearing now-a-days... :\

blah

Like Billie Joe said "I'm not going to say anything inspirational, I'm just going to fucking swear alot."

There that has it in itself. Yeah I agree it does sound rude if people say fuck just for the hell of it. Use it when angry or if you did something bad... not just for everyday fuck this fuck that use.

No. They should be able to say whatever they want to. If parents don't want their kids to hear it then they shouldn't let them listen to it. Its that simple.

um.......... you are wrong........

they might use 2 swears in a song as opposed to 5, but in American Idiot, all the songs are explicit, and back on the old albums, none are labeled as explicit

Green day can do what they want and the parents can't change that. Besides if parents are concerned about swearing they should look at the hip hop/rap crap that kids listen to.

Their music is THEIR creations. The parents, the kids, whoever, can take it or leave it as is.
