Boom. So uhh.. there's my answer, I don't think that they should do it because they obviously don't care and neither do I. They write songs because they enjoy what they do and they're not going to limit the swearing so that 9 year olds can listen to it, and they've said it before.. if people want to buy the record, than they can but they're not going to force anyone to listen to it.

thats true, i bought something when i was 11 with an m15+ catergory and they didnt care

In all honesty, these people make me want to fucking puke - are they expecting a fucking punk rock band to do their parenting for them?

Parental Advisory - as in, I advise you to start acting like a fucking parent, and take some fucking responsibility for what your kids are listening to/watching/shoving up their noses/sticking in their veins.

Green Day are artists, their themes are adult, and I truly and honestly feel that Billie's use of the various forms of the verb 'to fuck' is totally creative, expressive and valid.

And even if it wasn't, it wouldn't matter - it's his fucking music, you choose to buy it, or pass it by on your way to the Barney videos.

They write music for people to hear sure, but they dont care if people are offended. Hell listen to the lyrics (swearing aside) of their last album. They write music for themselves, and could care less if people dont like it.

I don't really care about it but I still think its funny when I went to the Green Day concert I had like a 6 year old in front of us and when Billie was swearing hes going Mummy hes saying bad words and she was covering his ears as well I have know idea why you would take a 6 year old to a Green Day concert any way.

i think that if it werent for the swearing and the way that the lyrics are composed of "the cold hard truth" of somethings i wouldnt be listening to them.

its up to them.... i couldnt really care less. they might want to limit their swearing to get a bigger audience, but i doubt theyd do that

I've adopted Billie's line when my kids are in the car i.e: coughing over the swear words. Trouble is my throat's actually starting to hurt.......

Why the hell should they???! It really isn't necessary.

Like kids aren't going learn to swear from anywhere else...

If they adjust their lyrics just because of that theres some things that are seriously wrong..

I likre the fact that green day swear...it makes it a lot ,ore fun..whgat annoys me is when certain tv channels and radio stations bleep out any of the lyrics or the swearing...i really don't get the point of that.

Swearing in the songs is fine, but I think Billie Joe could cut down the swearing a bit when he addresses the crowd - he swears so much, I don't have a problem with it, it's just a bit pointless.

Whoever compared GD to Eminem, I was just going to do that, so thanks for saving me time, :)

That basically sums up my arguement. GD isn't that offensive compared to rap.

At least GD don't advocate smacking their bitches up, or some of the other delightful pastimes associated with rap music. Swear words are just that - words. Cds with expletive lyrics are clearly marked so children should not be exposed to them unless an adult has made the decision to buy a particular album. I recently made an album called Yellow Day - that's Green Day without the blue bits in it - for a friend's 10 year old. She loves it and her parents are also delighted that Natalie got the GD album she wanted for her birthday but without the adult content.

Mind you, she probably hears worse language at school than she ever would on a Green Day record....

No, coz punk is about being angry and swearing helps get your mesage across

FUCK no.

sorry had to do that :)

anyway, i have seen no problem with their lyrics and swearing it's just when Billie gets going on stage maybe he could tone it down, besides that i have no problem.

okay, it's just a word. who cares? besides, it's not like they really swear that much anyway.

I think that when a song is written with curses, they are meant to express ones feelings on a subject..of course they shouldn't just be thrown around where they don't make sense..but you get the picture
