YourCoffinOrMine?
Last year I took art (big mistake) and we had to draw a lot of random stuff - visualization or something - so I always took Green Day's lyrics and made a stick figure scene with little stick figures acting them out. Obviously I failed since I can't draw - but I have the ultimate collection of stick figure drawings you could possibly imagine. It also helps me for this weird free writing stuff we do in English...one time I didn't know my teacher was collecting our free writes and we were supposed to write about something meaningful in our lives so I was just like whatever I'll write about learning to play Christie Road. So then my teacher goes turn them in now and I was like OMG cause everyone in class wrote about cancer survivors or something or someone that had meaning (our teacher rifled through them after we turned them in naming our subjects) and she got to mine and it was like one paragraph on learning to play this song and why it was meaningful to me. Guess what she said? She thought it was really original that I didn't pick something cliche that everyone was going to write about and that she loved the fact that music has such an important meaning in my life. I definitely thought I was going to fail but GREEN DAY SAVED MY ASS!And made me a new best friend this year. Cause some chick in my class was really into Green Day and I dind't know her all that well and then we got to talking and now we hang out all the time it's amazing. Seedless_Reject
Most of the people I hang around with are into Green Day so that helpedUm, does listening to Green Day to get away from the usual panic attacks and suicidal thoughts count cause then it'd be almost everyday. DeathOrGlory
The only bands I can think of that have ever helped me out in any way on a test are Anti-Flag and the Distillers. hmm. I guess Green Day have helped me practice any debating skills I have, since I always seem to have to defend them in conversations

GreenDay85
Well, i have really severe mood swings sometimes and if i get too mad i can hurt somebody, if i get too sad i'll lock myself in my room, if i get too happy i'm just annoying. If i'm listening to green day my mood can usually even out, if i listen to the right song.Like if i'm mad i'll listen to platypus, geek stink breath, or jaded. If i'm sad i listen to WMUWSE, BOBD, or good riddance. If i'm too happy i listen to nice guys finish last, king for a day, or warning. All of those songs can pretty much fix or change my mood. Other songs change my mood but those ones are just the ones that i listen to the most.
TheresNoSignOfHope
I think that they pretty much made me realize who I was. I used to just listen to music to listen to it, and not enjoy it.. Or think that I had to be like the girls at my school. But now I realized that I don't want to be all girly and pretend that everything is okay all of the time. I learned that it was okay for me to feel certain ways about things, because everyone has an opinion. I think that they just showed me who I was and now I know what I want to do with my life... That sounds just like me.

I started getting into Green Day at a really low point in my life, and they gave me something to obsess over so I didn't have to focus solely on my problems. *patronsaintofthedenial*
in key skills communications, part of my course was to make a powerpoint presentation. i have a really bad problem talking to a whole group of people and i was dreading this as i had already failed the discussion part of the course. i asked my teacher if i could do the presentation on green day, and she said that was absolutely fine, so i did, and it was the best damn presentation i've ever made, i rarely stuttered or paniced and i passed by a very wide margin. on a more serious note, the song panic song (about mike's panic attacks, incase you didn't know, but i'm sure you did ) helped me understand and deal with my panic attacks when i first started getting them. lines like "broken glass inside my head" freaked me out when i listened carefully to it as it was exactly what it felt like to me, and the fact that someone as wicked as mike suffers a similar thing really was a sort of comfort (though i feel sorry for mike that he gets them too obviously!) as i don't feel abnormal because of it, which is one of the symptoms/triggers of them in the first place.(not relevant but wanna mention it): this is my 100th post! woohoooooo!
