Did Green Day influence you to start learning an insrument?

kind of. when i started listening to green day i had played the piano for about 6 years and thought about learning to play guitar as well. green day pretty much got me into punk rock and that kind of music is the reason why i started to play guitar.

good thread. as soon as i saw the way that billie joe played his guitar in basketcase i was like omg that's what i wanna do. it was a new way for me to express myself and everything. the way that he played was the coolest thing that i've ever seen in my entire life. he made that sort of thwak (i don't know how to spell that sound) but yeah it was amazing and the way that mike played bass gave me the influence to create those sounds as well. i would have tried drumming 'cause it looked really cool, but i will never be able to pick up a drumstick, i'm really bad. but anyway that's how i started out on the guitar just watching Billie joe and doing the exact same things that he did.

I wanted to play guitar before I was that big of a Green Day fan, but since i've been having guitar lessons i've obsessed over them more, so I guess they inspired me to continue with it

I was already learning violin, viola, and trumpet when I started listening to Green Day. I knew a lot of people that were playing guitar after I started listening to Green Day plus I was bored, so that made me want to learn how to play. I didn't even think of playing their music until after I started taking lessons.

So the answer is no, they did not influence me.

Definetley! Their my fucking muse and inspiration for my life. They brought something out in me I didnt know I had, and really gave me this 'optomistic point of view' every time I pick up my guitar and write a new song, allways with Billie Joes words in mind.

Well... yes and no.

Technically, I already knew how to play the guitar before I had ever heard Green Day, but it wasn't much and I didn't really feel inspired by it.

Green Day didn't inspire me to start playing physically. I didn't really enjoy the guitar before but Green Day really gave it some meaning. It was like "I wanna play like them!" So they inspired me to enjoy what I was doing with music.

Walking Alone made me want to learn the harmonica. I got one for easter after that, but the only song I know is When the Saints go Marching In. LMAO The music came with the harmonica.
