Some bands can still stay fresh after 20+ years, U2 for one their just as good now as they were in the 80s. Rolling stones were good for a long time into like the late 80s. Nowadays they suck but Streets of love is a good ballad IMO...

i dont ever want them to stop being Green day. i hope they become the next rolling stones, not so much like the stones sound of music but to keep making music and touring until they all die of very old age.

honestly though i would like to see Billie joe do a solo album sometime in the near near future. A full record of just billie on an acoustic, rocking out billie joe style.

Yeah, I'd love that too, it'd be really interesting - I bet he has a shitload of material he can't do with Green Day; I bet he'd do a cover or two as well. It would just be a different vibe, a change of pace. He has a huge talent, and I'd be really surprised if he sticks solely to what he does with GD and his other side projects. I think he'll eventually try his hand at literature of some kind, a novel or poetry or a screenplay.

None of that would take away from Green Day, it would add to it. As for how long they should continue to make music - I'd say he will never stop. Artists don't retire - it's not a job, it's who they are. And to all those who don't like looking at old guys on stage - tough shit, this generation's not going to lie down and die because they're not pretty anymore!

I don't mind. They've given us a shitload of music to listen to already. I wouldn't even mind if they split up soon. However it would be weird having old grandads playing punk songs, but hey...

wtf..that's unsensitive and rude and big crap.

i mean, i wouldnt be ovejoyed at the fact that they'd never release anything ever again, but even if they did stop making music, i'd still have all the music they've made so far. im not greedy :D and its totally their decision. i dont wanna keep them working till they're 75:P

why is it up to us to decide what they do

We're not deciding we're just saying what we think should happen...

yeah, they should be around for as long as they want to... which is probably gonna be a looong time

Yeah, I think so. Theres some bands that just arent meant together, or do well together and just sort of grow apart (like Blink 182) so they should eventually break up. I think that Green Day however, has a special bond thats going to stick with them. To paraphrase something that Billie said, "We're different than a lot of other bands, we all like each other!" Theyre too good of friends, and such a kickass band, that they have no need to ever break up. Could you really see them getting into a serious, band-breaking fight over anything? I know they were on the verge of it before they wrote American Idiot, but now that thats out, and they got through it amazingly, theyre going to always be a band together.

Yeah, because the most important thing is how many fans they have, not the music they make. Good call.
