Burnout98
Yes, i was only 7 when i first listened to Green Day, and i wasnt really listening to music back then. So it ultimately led me to the best bands on the planet!
Ryan_
They did of course. I used to have no taste in music before I listened to Green Day, and I've gotten to like loads of other bands because of them.
SuperRebReb
I was seven when my friend introduced me to Green Day. Before that, all I knew was girly shit that the 'popular' girls in my school liked. I discovered Green Day and began to consciously listen to music. I asked for a portable CD player for my birthday, and bought all their albums within half a year. With GD as my starting point, I then moved along my musical discovery, into 80s and 90s music. Not only did they teach me what good music was, but the music was so me that I became who am am now. I distanced myself from the false friends I had til then, and found the group of friends I'm still stuck with now, after almost 10 years. Our similar taste in music brought us together. The fact that we were different, from everyone, even each other. Somehow we still fit together perfectly, as different as we are. I have my whole life style to thank GD for. For all I know, I could have sat next to someone without GD on their mp3 player, and could have turned into a bitchy popular kid.
Velocity
Yeah! I've started listening to The Clash and The Who as well! It's fucking great music. Never really listened to mainstream rock bands, cause I always thought they were unoriginal. But listening to what has inspired Green Day make me realize there are kinda similarities between those bands and GD now! Exactly! I kinda realized that most modern bands now are shit. So I looked into the bands that influenced Green Day, and they're SO MUCH BETTER than most rock music nowadays. Sometimes I'll be watching an interview with Green Day and if any of the guys mention any other bands they like or were influenced by, I'll often check them out because I figure those bands are better than what's out there now. LMC
As my parents aren't huge music fans (at least not anymore), I only listened to what was on the radio as a kid. Mostly nonsense pop, with a few exceptions. Then when I found Green Day (11 years old), I started to develop a musical taste of my own. At the beginning it was only Green Day, but as time went on I found a lot of other bands and artists. A few years ago I used to despise all the "radio crap", but nowadays I can see it for what it is, and actually enjoy a good portion of what's played. To answer the question: Yes, Green Day did change my musical taste. They introduced me to good music.
beejeezee
Green Day completely changed my music taste. I always used to listen to Rock. Like Metallica and other hard core rock bands.Once I started listening to Green Day I couldn't listen to hard rock anymore. I liked the slound of Punk Rock much more. It's like almost hard rock but has such a nice touch to it. Plus No Hard Rock singer could even be compared to Billie So yes Green Day changed my music taste and I love them for that
Izzard
No U2 has been playing in my house since I was born...so I think if any band has 'influenced my music taste' it was them. Green Day definitely introduced me to a lot of cool bands though
alaniluau
The boys absolutely revolutionized my musical taste. I realized that it was a lot more fun to discover bands on your own than simply accept the general sheep's consensus of what is good.
Holly Ann
Oui, I started loving punk bands like Sex Pistols then I realised they were shit and started to like everything.
xbox360ROCKS
If it wasn't for Green Day, I think I wouldn't listen to music as much has I would now. Back then, I use to think Music was GARBAGE (don't ask me). The only times I'll listen to music was when me and my family members, or friends, would play Guitar Hero 2 on PS2. Otherwise, I hated music. When I discover Green Day years ago, I got into music and discover so many bands that I like (GREEN DAY is one of them!). Green Day is what got me into Music now. Green Day is definitely one of my favorite bands of all time. I love 39 Smooth, Kerplunk, Dookie (my favorite), Insomniac, Nimrod, Warning (LOVE WARNING!), Shenanigans, American Idiot, and 21st Century Breakdown (LOVE THIS ALBUM!). Heck, I can't even wait for the new album called Awesome as F**k. I just gotta say, I love Green Day. It's the only Band that I actually like these days, since todays music kinda SUCKS now. Zelda
A big, fat fucking YES. From the age of five until I was about thirteen, I was convinced that Weird Al was the only good musician on the planet. I liked a few other songs, but I was basically obsessed with him. Then I found Green Day, realized how fucking pathetic I was, grew up, and started listening to rock, punk, metal, etc. I still listen to Weird Al, though. Just not as much. Mar
I don't think so. I have to say that getting into the Killers back in late 2004 really helped me be more open to rock music like Green Day.

Vaso.Of.Suburbia
Well my parents love rock music so I grew up into a house with Bon Jovi, Guns n Roses, Foreigner, Led Zep and Patti Smith songs playing. But when I was 11 I found Green Day and they introduced me to pop punk and punk rock. And year after year they changed my personal and political views
Zia
I just got more into punk-rock music. I've always loved rock and alternative etc. so Green Day didn't really change my musical taste. It just helped me find more interesting music.

EuropeanIdiot
I never listened to a specific genre of music before. I just listened to whatever came up, from rock to hip-hop. Then I saw a movie about the Rolling Stones, and that started to change my music taste to rock'n'roll, blues and so on. And then, I finally really got into Green Day. From then on, I changed my taste a bit again, to hard rock and punk rock and stuff like that. But I still enjoy rock'n'roll and even country, I just don't listen to it as much. solongfromthestars
Yeah, sort of. I grew up with my mum listening to Green Day and liked them, but I didn't really like anything else from their genre. I was into video game music and unfortunately, also some chav music. But when I really got into GD I developed a fairly decent taste in music.

jake smith
I can't remember being a big fan of music and listening to CD's but I deffinatly had already bought CD's like All Killer No Filler by Sum 41 and Take Off Your Pants And Jacket by Blink 182 so I wouldn't say they changed my music taste completly, but maybe a little bit

Uva
Definitely! Green day really taught me to listen good music, I found out there are bands you may listen to and there are some you shouldn't.
