Did Green Day change your musical taste?

I wouldn't say they changed it. I like loads of different types of rock bands. I love classic rock & punk rock. I would say they extended it, they are a few bands I listen to because of Green Day however my taste is also influenced by other bands and even literature too. Joe Perry actually influenced me to play guitar as I love the old Aerosmith stuff.

they changed my taste in music a lot.

i had always liked rock, but i enjoyed whatever was on the radio, so I never felt the need to listen to anything rocky.

Now i don't have the ability to listen to the radio for more than 10 minutes.

before green day, my favorite band was Marianas trench :S

Yes. I can't even remember exactly what I listened to before Green Day came into my life, but it was all crap, except for Britney Spears, I still listen to her. But, I listened to a whole bunch of other crappy bands.

ahhh this subject

yes but slowly...i listen to them once and again and again and i relized that i wasnt listening to anything on the radio. there was a three month span where i listened to nothing but Green Day. Then i started to change and listen to 80s rock also the Ramones and the Beatles. Green Day not only shaped my taste but also my desire to play a musical instrument i played flute at the time and wasnt very good i got some Green Day books and wha la!! im the best flutist in my school... Now im conquering the guitar :):D

Not really. After I stopped listening to pop I started listening to Good Charlotte, Simple Plan and other pop punk bands. Then I got into heavier stuff like Linkin Park and then I discovered Green Day. Now, I listen to everything from pop rock to metal. I love it all. :)

Yes, Green Day did to an extent, they opened the door to punk rock for me and now I listen to more punk rock than I used to. My music taste varies from the likes of Amy Macdonald and KT Tunstall all the way through to Slipknot so Green Day helped me to explore a new genre of music that I had never listened to before.

Yes pretty much.

Before I really like Reaggae and rap but at the same time I found it bored.

I couldnt really figure out what I liked and started getting more in to pop, thats when I got 21st CB and I was blown away.

I fell in love straight away, and now I also like bands like Nirvana and Blink 182 :)

They kinda did, I listened to rock and the heavy stuff more. Now, I'm listening to a lot more stuff I've found from listening to bands with similar musical styles. Meaning, I'm into a lot of Ska, and Ska-punk now. I guess you can say they expanded my musical taste. (:

I think they did yes, before I didn't really care for music too much. I had the odd album here and there, but then when I was 14 my parents bought me American Idiot for Christmas and then I fell for them quite hard. I got International Superhits after and then worked my way around into other music. It mainly focused on punk rock for the first few years, before going onto more modern indie rock bands, and now i've found more big band/underground stuff. Right now i've been listening to alot of Belle and Sebastian and Codeine Velvet Club. I still love Green Day and all the bands I found along the way thanks to them being the starting point!

I listened to rock music before i get into Green Day, but I also listened R n B and that stuff. So it changed a bit.

Now I listen almost only- rock, punk rock and alternative. So bands like MCR, Nirvana, Sex Pistols, Sum 41 ...

I used to listen to a lot more mainstream modern rock bands like Linkin Park, Sum 41, Audioslave, Staind, even a little Nickelback. My taste has changed a lot since I got into Green Day, now I listen to more stuff like The Clash, The Who, The Replacements, and tons of other awesome bands. Thank God.

Yeah! I've started listening to The Clash and The Who as well! It's fucking great music. Never really listened to mainstream rock bands, cause I always thought they were unoriginal. But listening to what has inspired Green Day make me realize there are kinda similarities between those bands and GD now!

They did, yes. Before I heard Green Day, I'd listen to the same radio station day in and day out. I would fall for mostly very poppy songs, bands that make me cringe these days. In my own opinion, I now think that I used to have a terrible musical taste. But I was a girly girl, and I listened to whatever you were "supposed to" listen to those days, whatever bands that were popular. I never branched out, until I heard Green Day and then stuck with them. They opened up a whole new world to me. I went from the most lame pop to rock and roll I guess. It felt like a big change at the time.

Good question. Yes, Green Day did in a good way. I only listened to Mainstream and all that stuff. But i realized that most of those songs just have no meaning ("Yeaah. we are partying" Yo know what I mean?). Or are over mixed with 100 different sounds in the backround. I also realised i only listened to stuff like that cause everyone around me thought it was good. I'm so fuckin happy it changed...

Before Green Day, I liked music, but it wasn't a nessecity. I listened to a mix of country (my family's influence) and rap (my friends influence). After I heard Green Day, I deleted my music library and started over. Now Ilisten to a lot of punk, alternative, and 80s rock and I can't go 30 minutes without wanting my iPod.

This pretty much sums it up for me too
