They've changed. But they made it better so i won't complian.

From listening to them, i found out about other band like op ivy, who i now love.

But also i just think it, it made my sway more towards certian genres.

But i still have some bands, that i've always listend to. and always will

even if they are a completly style different to Gd.

I liked my parents music when I was little, and then in kindergarten I became obbsessed with Britney Spears. Later, in elementary school I listened to whatever shit disney sold me. When I got to middle school I couldn't stand disney shit anymore and just completly stopped listening to music. About a year later I was just starting to buy some shitty pop and rap just so I would have something to talk about with my friends when my brother got into Green Day. He had the songs "Know Your Enemy", "Give Me Novacaine/She's a Rebel", and "When I Come Around" I loved these songs and stole them from him and put them on my ipod. I listened to these and some other Green Day songs I bought for awhile, but I didn't become completely obbsessed until the summer of 2010, when I became the obbsessed fan I am today. While I was listening to their music, I was Introduced through youtube coments and links to other bands like Rise Against and Anti-Flag that I know love. Green Day probably saved me from Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, and Rap and made me like some really awesome music. I wish i could thank them in person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah...about 180° before I was hip hop and R'n'b now I'm Rock'n'Roll and punkrock and well...rock generally... I stll see rap/hiphop as an art..but not as something to care about 'coz it like hollow and not fullfilling, you know?

they taught me about the skill of music making, using actuall instruments instead of electronic stuff und lyrics that are moving...

Green Day not only changed my taste in music but my whole lifestyle...and I'm grateful

They defined my musical taste, not just changed or molded it. I was 10 the first time I heard 2000 Light Years Away... which lead me into their first two albums. That was '94.. and from there I just grew up with them and their style. I got into punk and ska and have been loving it ever since.

Not really. I still listening the same bands I listened before. Let's say that Green Day has improved a little bit my musical taste but they didn't changed. :)

Yeah, pretty much. Before I knew Green Day, my favorite singer used to be Gwen Stefani. (I still like some of her songs :ninja: ) They introduced me to punk rock and such. And I'm really thankful for it.

Completely.

I was twelve and until that point I listened to your usual kid shite, S Club 7 and Gareth Gates were among my favourites if I remember correctly.. From the day I heard Green Day I was literally hooked, and other than when dancing to cheesy music at a party, I have never listened to the old stuff since that day. I probably spent about six months just rejecting absolutely everything that wasn't Green Day.. then I realised that is stupid and I got into Blink 182 and Avril Lavigne  Then my music taste just gradually started expanding until you come to where I am now with a pretty diverse music taste.

Green Day not only got me into rock music, but also got me into music! Before I discovered I listened to the music my parents listened to (South African stuff from the 90's, ABBA, Cat Stevens and other mainstream music from the 70's, 80's and 90's). I also kinda liked Avril Lavigne (I was 10 years old!) and other mainstream music, but I wasn't ever really INTO the music. I kinda just listened to it if it was on the radio. My passion at the time was rugby! (For those of you who don't know, rugby is kinda like American Football. It's huge in South Africa! I was really into that. It was my jock era. :D )

When I started getting Green Day's stuff I became obsessed with them. American Idiot was the first song I heard of them. For 6 years now my life has been dominated by rock music and guitar playing. I then got into MCR, Fall Out Boy, Billy Talent, Sum 41, Foo Fighters, Panic at the Disco, Muse and many other bands. I'm not playing as much guitar as I use to, because I'm not taking music as a subject at my school anymore, but I still love it.

Green Day are the biggest reason for my passion for music.

well...when I was like 10 i liked pop music and thing...I just didn't imagine me as liking punk/rock. I was like "look at these punks---they're like clovns"(I dont know what i was thinkin.) :pinch::blink:

But one day, when I was 11/12 yrs or somethin, we had in sql some presentations and some guy put on the radio American Idiot. I was like: Oh, so this is Green Day!"

&suddenly i was obssesed with them.

yes, they definetly changed my taste of music. I mean, i don't like this "popular songs" anymore. I just want them, nothing else. They have all that I need. And I'm sure you all (most of you) think like that.

Sry, I know my English isn't very good, but I think you understood my point.

i'm not sure Green Day changed my musical tastes as much as FORMED my musical taste.

before i came across Green Day, i didn't have a musical taste. i listened to whatever was on the radio at the time.

mostly my mom and i listened to 90's alternative and country on the radio.

i used to really like bands like the goo goo dolls and barenaked ladies.

we had even listened to Green Day on the radio before i knew who Green Day was.

but as far as having my own taste for music, i really can't say i had one.

Green Day opened my eyes to music. they practically opened flood gates to any and all music i have ever discovered.

and it's almost like i'm not giving them the credit they deserve.

they did so much more for me than just helping me find a musical taste.

they really did help me form ME.

that sounds so cliche and lame, but it's so true.

Yes, they totally did.

I first listened to them when I was 13 and like most 13 year-olds I was listening to shitty Pop music by shitty casting bands. When I started to listen to Green Day and started to learn more about them and Punkrock, I also started to listen to other bands like The Offspring, Blink182 and Die Ärzte. From then on, Green Day didn't really influence my taste in music anymore though. It just developed, I discovered other genres like Indie and later I also started to listen to completely different music like R'n'B and Hip Hop. All this would have probably never happened without Green Day. :)

That have influenced my taste's quite a lot, I used to listen to anything that anybody else was listening too, I didn't really have a paticular tase. But Green Day introduced me to the Ramones - I haven't looked back since.

They definitely did. Before Green Day I listened to 60's/70's rock, like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Joe Walsh, Pink Floyd etc. I wouldn't even listen to anything that was current. But since I got into them back in 2005, I hardly ever listen to classic rock. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have gotten into the music I listen to now.

Hell yes!!!

Before green day I mainly liked pop and liked singers like Hilary duff when I was 8 or something =/ now I don't like any of that type of music- also cos it's usually about love and guys and that's IT! like I know gd have some songs about love but it's not in all they're songs and whatnot! But anyways.. My taste in music has definitely changed since green day. I'm more tolerant of rock/punk music than I was before too! :D :D

I don't think so, although it has improved the quality overall of my musical taste  . I like a bit of everything, bit of rock, bit of pop, what I really think defines my taste is not the genre, I like more melodic stuff, and with lots of rhythm. It's just that for me, I separate music into two groups: the silly, simple, kinda shalow music to dance to and have fun (pop stuff), and then the ones that really make me feel, like it really touches my feeling, it's the music that I feel it's honest and really comes from what the artist/singer feels (best example is GD). I get really philosophic about my fave music

I wouldn't say they changed my musical tastes, but they definitely opened the flood gates of my musical tastes. Like before Green Day came into my life, I was listening to the Backstreet Boys and N'Sync and such lol. But I pride myself in having very diverse music tastes cause I listen to basically everything, as long as its good to me I could care less what genre it is or how popular it is.
