Rebel Girl1989
They completely changed mine. Before I got into the punk scene I was into pop and crap like that. At the time I started listening to Green Day I had a huge personality change and grew out of other music. But, yeah, they did change my music tastes. Nicolle
To an extent. They were one of the first bands of their genre I was introduced to. It broadened my horizons in making me look for similar types. But I like alot of different stuff, metal stuff, so my horizons were already quite wide. wowsers_trousers
i guess they did, i think i was kinda heading down that road anyway, i was listening to a lot of rock, and older rock, but i didnt really listen to a lot of music and i didnt know many bands.Green Day, and also Rancid introduced me to the punk-rock/ punk music, now i am obsessed with it and listen to it constantly nand listen to a lot of bands. michelleono
Yes, Green Day helped to change what I listen to. I first started getting interested in them when I saw them perform on Saturday Night Live. I love bands that sound good live, and of course they kicked ass on the show, so then I got American Idiot and a few months later I caught them on their last American tour for American Idiot. My musical tastes have always been pretty mainstream. Wish that I hadn't grown up during the 90s because I only heard the pop stuff. I mean, I knew The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and stuff like that from my dad, but my favorite tastes were what was big at the moment. My favorite music all Green Day now, but they have helped me get interested in other stuff. I've been dissatisfied with whats on the radio, so I seek out a lot of other smaller bands. I'm still into a lot of oldies, and now I'm going back and looking for all the stuff I missed when I was too young. Example - finally heard Nirvana's Nevermind last week and I can't stop listening to it. Green Day is also the reason that I started playing guitar. And that opened up another world for me... WalkingContradiction118
Yeah, definately.I used to listen to pop and rap. Yeah, embarrassing. Eventually I got kinda bored with it, and when I heard BOBD, it got me completely hooked. I downloaded other Green Day songs, then bought their albums and completely dumped the other music. Now I listen to MCR, AFI, AC/DC, The Offspring, The Ramones, Van Halen, etc.

RamaMama
hello . . .I don't know that Green Day "changed" my musical tastes - I've always been pretty eclectic but they certainly broadened my attention to include more punk . . .
samdarko
Nope, Green Day didn't change my taste at all. I loved all kinds of rock before I really got into them. I've always been into rock/punk/metal, so...yup!
green.day.sarah
I liked mostly country and some alternative stuff. pretty much just the stuff my parents would play on the radio. so yes they changed my musical taste completley
queso
yes... before i listened to them my taste went from spice girls in the beginning (8-10 years old) and then i went on to like people like nelly furtado (before she went all hollywood-whore on us) and michelle branch... and then i got into kinda indie bands like the strokes and franz ferdinand and.... well, i was always into the beatles.but after i got into those indie bands i figured out who GD were by finally looking up basket case on the computer. cause i had memorized the lyrics from the radio without ever knowing who they were but once i figured it out i asked if my friends had any of their CDs and borrowed some and i got hooked. that was around the time that AI came out, but i swore i wouldnt go out and buy AI without getting their older stuff first. but anyways, after that i got into more punk stuff. before, i liked what little ramones i had heard and that was about it, but after green day i started looking up all the punk bands i had heard about (sex pistols, dead kennedys, ect) and tried to go out and find new ones. and im SOOO glad green day lead me to find out about NoFX, cause they ruuuule. not as much as GD, but still...i was never a girl who liked rap or pop (like brittney spears) , so i guess they didnt change my taste drastically, but they tweaked it! nessa1416
Definetly.I was never really into music before Green Day. If it wasnt for them I never would have started listening to bands like The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Who, Rancid, The Living End, The Explosion... etc. Very greatful that my Brother-in-law decided to play the BIAB soundtrack when I was in the car that day...or I might not be on this forum lol. maddy31
YES!! Green Day totally changed the music I listened to. I used to listen to that rap, hip hop, reggae(sean paul), pop crap and I only listened to it because everyone else listened to it so I felt I had to too. Then there was Green Day, and I became more independant and was no longer afraid to have my OWN taste in music.
