I listened to backstreet boys and avril lavigne before green day. And other things too embarrasing to mention.

Oh yes...! Green Day definitely changed my taste of music!!! Before Green Day I just listened to Rap Music... uhh! :whistling: But now, I nearly just hear songs which haven't anything in common with rap, because I think rap is simply the worse music style

totally.

i used to listen to all the "mainstream" music that everyone else was into but then i found something called a "personality" so that was the beggining of me getting an attitude and listening to exceptionally good music and being myself.

yay for me wahooo!!!!

m, and I'm so glad they did! think it was couse Am. Idiot became so big and it did get a lot of attention, I loved it and then started to listen to their older records and to other smaller bands. Before I mostly listened to the same music that everyone else did, Green Day really opened my eyes.

....maybe a little, I got into rock before I got into Green Day actually, but I heard some Green Day songs on some radio station and thought it was cool, so I got into them, and more into punk.

Haha when I was like 6/7 I started to listen to Backstreet Boys, and so yeah I was a fan of them for a while, and now I'm finally getting rid of the things I had of them, and I'm buying Green Day and Ramones stuff from that money. Kinda funny in a way you know :P Meaningless little kiddie music, makes place for meaningful good music!

Oh, man. YES, Green Day really changed my music style, and tatse. Before my obsession with Green Day, I was in with the whole "Pop" music thing (Now, that I think of it, I never knew why I ever liked Pop...it's really....bad music...).

Green Day definitly changed my attitude too...heh. I used to be all "Just go along with it, don't cause touble", now, I'm just myself and I like standing up for what's right instead of following what everyone else was doing. Which, now, I think was very stupid of me to follow.

After I heard Green Day, I started listening to other Rock bands (after I got obsessed with Green Day, that is), and I fell in love with the music. Now, it's all I listen to. Punk, Hard, Soft, Alternative, Emo, Metal, etc., etc.

But even if I still listen to other bands other than Green Day, I'll always know that Green Day is THE BEST BAND EVER!!! :D

I was kinda like you, Dearly - they definitely motivated me to find more than mainstream rock.

Before Green Day came out when I was in 6th grade, I was into Paula Abdul and the New Kids on the Block. Hey, it was the 80s and I was only a youngin.

Not really.. I wasn't into punk that much before I found out about green day, but I was into rock... And bands like Oasis, Nirvana, Metallica and Kaizers Orchestra(<--A great norwegian band!! :D) So Green Day didn't change my musical taste to much, they just opened my eyes to punk. And I think they've changed me more as a person than they have changed my taste in music.

I would say no.. I grew up listening to rock bands like Pink floyd, Talking heads, and queen. I still have fairly broad music taste and I like hearing new things. I listen to Green day more than anything else but i cant say they influenced the music I listen to.

Okay. This is how musically retarded I was before I found Green Day...

I loved Britney Spears.

I played Vanessa Carlton's stuff on the piano (and sang along). :bored:

I started writing pop music. :ermm:

I wore lots of pink. :pinch:

I liked Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan. I thought they were awesome.

The only thing close to rock I listened to was Michelle Branch.

Then one day, a long time ago, I rediscovered myself. I found out who I really was underneath all that pop music and baby blue skirts. I connected to Green Day more than I ever did with anything else. It was my music for life. My mojo. My drive. Yes, I am no longer retarded.

I never thought I'd possibly listen to anything like Punk Rock. All I listened to was 60's-70s Pop and classical, because that's all I'd ever really heard, because that's my parents taste in music. I'm happy Green Day happened, it's opened a whole new realm of music to me, even inspired me to learn guitar.
