I used to listen pop music before. And Turkish pop. (It sucks 'cos it's like slow pop music :pinch: ) and once, i listened Linkin Park (an advice of my best friend) and i hated Linkin Park. and i thought it was all rock. that's why i hated rock, too. then someday, (last year  ) i was watching a music program and i saw "know your enemy". Then i listened it over and over again. Then, I said myself: "I must listen more songs of Green Day. They rock and I like them." Then, I listened their songs. I bought their 2 albums. I'm really happy and I don't listen pop music or Turkish pop  I listen alternative, rock, punk and all the way Green Day.

I think that Green Day really did change my musical tastes. Believe it or not, I used to be a big mainstreamer, (ugghhh) up until the age of 11 when I got introduced to the Beatles. Just before Green Day, I listened to ALOT of 60's stuff. But now because of Green Day, I alter between some 90's punk bands (The Breeders, Jimmy Eat World and of course Green Day) still some of my favourite 60's bands (The Kinks and The Who) and now alot of 70's (The Sex Pistols are my favie at the mo!)

Not really, my big sister was a real hardcore Punk in the 80s and 90s (yes my sister is WAY fucking older than mew, lets try twenty years older than me) and I was just brought up with all of that. Only really because my mum was on on her own and when I was smalll my sister looked after me all the time, shes basically a second mother to me. I picked it all up from her, she used to sing me to sleep with Green Day if I had a nightmare when I was like four. Punk music has always been in my life so...I don't even know why I like it I think its a comfort thing to be honest.

Before I heard Green Day i used to listen to country. Thats just what my parents and older brother liked so I just picked it up. The first time I heard Green Day I thought they kinda sucked. After a few times of hearing it I started to like it and started to get more into their stuff.

:woot: Same here I listened to german music a lot but then my taste totally changed  i still listen to my old music from time to time but i mostly listen to GD, Ramones, Clash, Queen, Billy talent, fall out boy and that kind of stuff

Before green day, I didn't listen to music. Period. I was like 13, but still. I had an iPod, who knows why, with about fifty songs on it all of the r&b or pop genre from now! CDs. It hurts me to think about it.

Then, in 2008 I heard boulvard of broken dreams on the radio and... It was like an epiphany, I suddenly realised how captivating and powerful music could be, and more than just a catchy tune!

Since then, I first got more green day music, then I got into other alternaive bands which my friend told me about, like nirvana, my chemical romance (didn't last too long), blink, muse, and the kooks.

Most recently I've been getting into older classic rock like the beatles and bob Dylan, which I salvaged in my dads cd collection. also older pinkish stuff like the ramones, the clash, the runaways and now the replacements.

So basically, green day gave me music. Which is pretty good for a lucky play on a local radio station!!

They opened me up and made me more open minded with music. :-D And cool, I also loves old music (the best in my opinion!)

Before I started to like Green Day, I wasn't into any bands. I just listened to anime and video game music. Now I listen to different kinds, but mostly rock.

More than I could ever have imagined. Before I discovered Green Day, I listened to stupid pop bubblegum shit. There were some rock acts as well that I listened to but I wasn't really into them. Green Day got me into punk and alternative music as well as the lifestyle. And I'm pretty thankful for that ;) When I look through my cd collection today, I just can't help but shake my head about the music I used to listen to.

Just E.X.A.C.T.L.Y. this!

Before, I used to think bands like Hedley and Simple Plan were punk. :pinch: Then I started listening to Green Day, who had enough pop appeal for me to get into while at the same time completely opening my eyes. I started to listen to some more well-known punky bands like Rise Against, Billy Talent, and Alexisonfire, and I just kept getting more sucked in. My taste now is mostly punk and hardcore, with Green Day and Thrice tied as my all-time favourite bands. :)

Yes, Green Day definitely changed my musical taste.

When I started to listen to Green Day, I also began to listen to other bands such as The Distillers.

Yes, definitely. Before Green Day.. I'm pretty ashamed of it, I listened to what most people listened to, music I now consider terrible. Then I read about Green Day in a book, and I tried it out and I immediately loved it. And so I began to listen to more punk rock, and other alternative and rock bands.. I'm so thankful, without Green Day I'd still be listening to shit.

I was into rock anyway, but Green Day widened my music taste to punk rock also.

Before Green Day, when I was around 8, I used to listen to rap... :pinch::pinch:

I owned a Britney Spears cd and thought the Wiggles were the coolest thing ever. :whistle

I still like a lot of music I used to listen to though. Like my Irish folk music-Paddy Reilly, the Dubliners and so on.

But yeah, they've changed the way I act too. I used to be really quiet and afraid of what people would think of me, now people can just get stuffed if they don't like what I have to say! :P:P

I owe Green Day a lot of kudos... because they really did change my musical taste. It was all about boy bands, rap and shity "pop-punk" bands before Green Day stumbled into my life.

They introduced me to punk and what that subculture was all about. I started listening to The Clash a lot more after I got into Green Day. And to this day The Clash is probably one of my favorite bands along with Green Day. And of course I listen to other punk bands, too. But that's just an example.

I listen to many genres from alternative rock to opera... but Green Day opened my eyes to Punk music. And I've never looked back. It's quite amazing.

They did change my music taste but also my mom helped on that too because most bands and punk music my mom liked Green Day also liked too. But sadly since my mom has passed away, Green Day has been making my music taste progress. :)

Kind of. I mean, before I started liking Green Day, I had never been a huge Rock music fan. But I still listen to some pop artists. :)

Before Green Day, I didnt realy have a music taste. I grew up listening to 60s and 70s classics on the radio and I listened to current radio stations, and had songs I liked on there. I also had a couple of RHCP albums that I liked, but again, it was just good music, not so much musical taste to me.

I bought American Idiot after hearing Holiday and seeing the American Idiot music video. From there, I bought GD's old albums. The first non-GD but GD-inspired purchase I made was Operation Ivy, which led on to Rancid, and other east bay stuff.

Green Day didnt change my musical taste, they MADE my musical taste :D
