lol I hardly ever talk about Green Day anymore to my friends because I know they'll just make fun of them or ridicule them.

I've learnt to deal with it (come here) and I don't mind. We don't really share many interests anyway...

I hardly ever talk about Green Day with my friends. Except for this one friend of mine. She's a fan herself, and doesn't mind discussing lyrical meanings and tabs, etc.

Anyway, my friends doesn't ridicule Green Day or anything, they just prefer not to talk about them. But it's cool with me, there are millions of other subjects to talk about.

It's sort of a respected fact that I'm a fan between my friends and I.

I sometimes talk about them, though not often. It can be very annoying when people endlessly ramble on about shit you don't care about, so I try not to do it to other people out of consideration. That's what GDC is for.

some of my friends got really annoyed so I don't talk to them about GD anymore

I can talk/write about them here and at home

And within my friends I know who I can talk to without being annoying

Not really. Everyone knows that I'm really into Green Day but I normally don't really talk much about them if it's not a good time. But I don't find it hard to talk about Green Day at all. It's fun :D

My friends hate Green Day, I can't help but talk about them all the time and they just have a go at me for it all the time. I have one friend who loves Green Day who is Alex_face on this forum. I went to see them with him in October and he is coming with me to see them at Wembley. If it wasn't for him I would have no one to obsess with about them. :(

Some years ago I used to try to talk about Green Day to my friends, but they didn't even listen to me so I gave up

In November I took my best friend to the show in Milan and now she loves them, so at least now I have someone to talk to about them :)

I don't really know. They dislike Green Day that much I don't even start talking about them  (I think they only see GD as the 'Green Day band with that anti-america song and that I walk alone song' But still.)

Newsflash not everyone gives a shit about Green Day, they don't have to either, its your thing, don't force your stuff on other people or they will just end up getting annoyed and bored with you.

I love Green Day but don't constantly harp on about it, that's what these boards are for, there is more to life than GD (I know shocking isn't it) ;)

Have some perspective, maybe let your friends talk about what's important and happening in their lives too, you get more of a response that way.

:)

Well I only have one friend who really doesn't like Green Day. But he doesn't mind me talking about them.

And my other friends know I'm crazy about them and if I talk about them they just talk about the bands they love. So it's like: Yeaah Green Day blabla. - Ooh yeah Arctic Monkeys blabla.

But it's not that I only talk about GD. Well there's always a point when I mention them of we talk about music. But I mean...there is so much music to talk about :]

Part of me wants to have friends who love Green Day as much as I do, then another part kind of doesn't. This must sound so stupid and cliche but I feel like I have a connection to the band that I don't really want to share with my rl friends because I feel like they don't really understand.

That's why I love GDC! Even though I've only been on here for a short amount of time, you are all so genuine and don't make me feel silly for loving a band so much because we all feel the same way!

/done.

My best friend likes the same stuff as me so i can have a pretty good conversation with her and to me that's all that matters. My other friends are accepting and will listen to me unlike some people I used to know. So I'm pretty good with that

I never really talk about Green Day with them. In high school there were quite a few Green Day fans, but I didn't know many of them. There were a couple of fans in my class even, but I wasn't close to them.

For some reason I tend to avoid talking about Green Day with those friends I have. I don't know if that's weird, but my friends have such different music taste than me, so I wouldn't get much out of it. Maybe it's just a feeling a have, but as soon as I tell someone I love Green Day most people go "oh, okay..." and move on to something else. It's like there's so much more to them than just American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, but my friends just don't know that. And I simply don't bother to explain it to them.

I don't know, maybe that's just my interpretation. My brother tells people all the time that Green Day's his favourite band. I think people get a bit surprised 'cause he's much of a techno dude otherwise. And some idiots associate Green Day with the whole emo scene, sell-outs, call them faggots and stuff like that. So he gets a lot of shit sometimes for saying how great Green Day are.

People I hang out with aren't as immature. But I try my best to avoid stupid discussions about them. 'Cause people always seem to have so many opinions about Green Day.

Sorry about the rant.

I hardly ever talk about Green Day with my friends.

The frustrating thing is that whenever I do mention them, they all act as if I never shut up about them. The rolling of the eyes, and the "here we go again..."

The only reason they know I'm a big fan is because they've seen my iPod, or my room. That's why I've taken to mentioning them as little as possible in conversations because, as awful as it sounds, their attitude makes me feel almost embarrassed to say their name.

There is absolutely no one I know outside of this place that would have the same music tastes as me, or the same determination to get tickets for gigs. It makes going to concerts a bit awkward, because if it's outside Belfast, my mum insists on me going with someone, and I'm like, "who? =/ "

Absolutely. No one else gets how I feel about the band or their music. My husband is only "tolerant" of my addiction. My friends all  at me!

Their loss I say!
