Once I got into an argument with my ex best friend and ex boy friend over who influenced who and what they both argued that it was Blink 182 but I knew otherwise. Many of my friends who I can see locally just don't get my extreme love of Green Day and just shrug my Green Day related comments off. My own sister thinks I'm too involved with them. But I usually have a Green Day cd playing in my car so if they drive with me, they listen to Green Day. hehe same for me: a GD cd in my car But people always say: "No, not GD! put on something else please!" Nobody of my friends like them. Only one friend at school said that their live performens was the best ever...but for the rest she doesn't listen to them. At home: my bro and father get crazy and mad when I got GD on. My mom doesn't like it too but she doesn't mind when I play it loud all day long... If I could, I'd make a documentary on the guys' lives and Gilman and stuff and make my HIM and MCR-loving friends watch it so they know to fucking shut their mouths before they judge them and shit. My friend heard me playing Brainstew once and she asked if Green Day did a cover of it, that she knew it a couple years ago and liked it. Naturally, I had to lecture her and say that no it was their original song. Then another time she was over at my house with her sister and she was looking at all my Green Day albums and said, "You know, it's sad that they've put out this many albums and haven't been famous till now." And so I had to tell her that they were just as popular, if more, during the Dookie days and that Dookie went Diamond. I wish people would educate themselves before judging Green Day. amen! hah. Acadia Posted February 5, 2006 Share Posted February 5, 2006 I have a problem with my stupid friends who dont care about green day. whenever i try to talk about the meaning of the lyrics they either blow me off, tell me that they dont even get it, or worse start talking about all the new hot "hollaback hump" shit! the only people I can converse intelligently about the true meanings off Green Day are the you guys on the forum. I want to know do you have the same problem??? i was the one who got my friends into green day and each of us has a green day wall in our rooms. they do get annoyed when i talk about them a lot though.... i was the one who found out that Billie Joe was Bi, and the Tre has only one nut (lol, but very weird how it happened ) theres nothing weird about mike, but when i try to talk to people that are 'sort of' my friends, they go "yeah--uh huh--whatever." pfft. now the only thing they care about it the black eye peas and the 'my humps' song. or the laffy taffy crap. everyone at my school either listens to hard rock, or pop bitch music. *sigh* what ever happend to the real music out there? or is Green Day the only inspiration for new punkers? amen! hah. I talk to them about Green Day anyway. And they talk to me about it, like today when my friend asked if Green Day were Canadian, which was funny. "But they sing a song called American Idiot!" My classic rock friend is also my Green Day obsessed buddy. We met because of Green Day. I had a Green Day shirt on, she had a Green Day shirt on, and we knew we were meant to be friends. So we became best buds within a week. Really cool, eh? My mainstream friend listens to mostly that pop-rock-punk-whatever like Blink 182, The Used, Alexisonfire, you get the idea. But since she's mainstream, she also listens to some Green Day, mostly American Idiot. So I can talk to her about American Idiot only. Sooo...that's my friends-situation.
