Guest Quietus
ironically enough, you're exercising your right by telling him to supress his. hypocricy rocks!Yes. I am aware I am. Because I'm sick of hearing this. People are acting like Green Day personally came to their house, tied them to a chair, pried their eyelids open, and ran every Green Day related show on. minimouse
My opinion is...they're starting to age...and when they age, bad things tend to happen. What I want them to do is to bring back some of the old teen angsty punk rock they brought with Dookie and Insomniac..thank god for those albums. Now, I know with AI the true Green Day fans hate it, and to be honest, some of this new crap is getting redundant and getting old VERY fast. Just let the teenies have their spotlight. Then, hopefulyl the guys will come to their senses, though they do have families. The thing that bugs me most about the teenies is how much attention they give to the guys family members. I've been a fan since Dookie and before AI I had never seen a pic of Billie's wife or Mike/Tre's g/f, now there are websites dedicated solely to Billie's wife. WTF. You know a band is overexposed when a spouses biography is splashed all over the internet, especially when that spouse isn't even in the music business herself. As for them being sell-outs - NO - they are not and I bet if anyone here was lucky enough to be in Billie's, Mike's or Tre's shoes they would do the exact same thing. zoki
"i know no one is forcing me which is why i didnt watch them as ive said before. it just gets annoying and who cares if those other artists have 4 or more vids out they dont have all the making of shit or the underwear"^^ robin , (my makeshift quote thing)Of course other artist in the mainstream don't have extensive merch, how could I.oh wait, I have to go change the batteries of my Quen stefani camera, and fuck, I got my G-Unit watch wet, off to Wal-Mart. mclaren
nice example, considering g-unit would be the first to admit they're in it for the fame and money.
enjoiskaterguy
Love all the question marks - ok 'godfathers of punk' is a term that has been applied to Green Day , especially in the British press, especially in Kerrang which published that article. I should have made that clearer by putting it in inverted commas, my bad. As for the other bands - go for it. What are we talking here - California punk of the late 80s, or are we going back to The Ramones? Or is its Brit-punk back in its early origins, when Green Day would have been excluded merely by the fact that they can all play their instruments? I'm interested to know who you think are the originators, and how it came to life again in California particularly. Go on, educate me.Im sorry, but I already said in my last post that I wouldn't lower myslef to do that for you.if i was nominated at every single inconsequential award show on the planet, i wouldn't parade myself and perform at each one, no.I second that. seventeen and strung out
Maybe I'm completely ignorant and should notice things like "selling out" if such a thing exists, but I just don't pay attention to any of that stuff. I honestly don't care how famous they are, or if you can buy Green Day underwear at hot topic, as long as I enjoy the music. I just think paying too much attention to the bands personal affairs, or financial affairs, or merchandise just makes everything complicated. I'm quite content popping in a Green Day CD, and as long as those don't suck then I'm perfectly happy with them.I know I'm posting again, sorry, but I just noticed someone got on the "punk" topic again. I absolutely detest that. People get so upset over music genre's and it's just a bunch of crap if you ask me. As Paul Mcartney said "There are only two types of music; good and bad." Exactly, and in my opinion Green Day is good. End of story. Screw 'Punk' screw 'emo' screw 'rock' screw 'pop. They are GOOD!

Guest Quietus
I second that. But they did not perform at every single show. They performed at the bigger ones.
TheMinority
The only thing i've gotten really tired of is the grenade heart on all the merchandise. It's everywhere! Merchandise over all is just to much.. I mean do we nead a whole wardrobe with clothes with Green Day's name on them? and everything else that comes with it! blankets, dolls, pens and 10 different kinds of patches? Well of course merchandise is the "hipp" thing right now but Green Day over did it...
AAJ
The only reason im glad the A.I era is over is because that means that Green Day will hopefully be soon producing a new CD!! I still love American Idiot but i guess that some of the stuff they put on sale and stuff was a bit ridiculus. I am waiting for the Movie i think that would be great, i love Green Day as much as i ever have

green all the way
Warner and thier PR managers control all of Green Day's PR. I don't think they know what's good for the band.

green all the way
ok. Warner just looks to sell and move CDs. they look at the short term. I don't think they understand how fans would react or care. this is of course, pur speculation. By selling Green Day out, I mean they just look for thier interest in making money, not so much Green Day. This could all be wrong. it's just a feeling I get.pretty sure the record company also held guns to their heads and made them make every public appearence possible. you make it seem like green day is helpless.it's called a contract

The Doctor
I think the American Idiot mania has kind of died down a little now. I mean, sure, they're still winning awards and shit, but the insane hype has gone. And I like it this way. But I still can't wait for the next album.
