I dont give a fuck if people think green day sold out. I`ve been reading this crap ever since I first joined to the so called "official message board" *spits* I still listen to the cds. I still love what I`m hearing. fuck what the press says. fuck what anybody says. I love the music. I lvoe what it says to me. I love what it means to me. sell out? who fucking cares? Dannit
They pretty much abandoned their roots. Not musically, but theyre now charging you 50+ bucks to see em, who almost all older fans cant afford to pay. Theyre playing to 12,000 preppy girls and 8 year olds with their moms. They DID sell out, they even admit it, so dont even try denying that. They said "us and blink are the 2 biggest sellouts in punk rock". They arent even funny anymore, bullet in a bible was the most boring band dvd ive ever seen, all it was was billie joe talking about how poetic and shit it all is. Dont get me wrong, i still love their music, but they are grown up and boring. and MBK hit the nail on the head. back in dookie, and even nimrod time they made fun of the media and refused to be a part of it all. Now theyre just basking in their glory. Back in dookie they Never wouldve done all these stupid shows (behind the music, storyteller etc). And they were touring with punk bands and stuff...now its MCR, New found glory...bahh! i agree with you totally. i mean, how and why did green day bring along My Chemical Romance . . . where's the connection musically or anything? and yes, they've sold out, i wish i could've lived back in the early 90's so i dont have to put up with them being boring anymore, they're good musically, but green day have basically dropped everything they beleived in before media-wise
ArmatageShanks39
and i mean 50+ bucks a concert...its just riddiculous. almost all their old fans cant do that. If they cared about their fans at all theyd play a smaller venue like they used to. what bugs me is theyre in a totally different scene, which i really dont wanna be a part of. back a while ago they would be mentioned among Rancid, Bad Religion, Ramones, and the Offspring. I mean, the offspring were huge and decreased in sucess, but they didnt go out and start dressing like the new emo trend, and make wierd powerballads. Now theyre among bands like MCR, Simple Plan, the Used, and Fallout Boy, and even coldplay. The punk aspect is gone. never coming back, dont even try to wait for "american idiot to die down". Im just really pissed that theyre wannabee emos. Its a fucking trend, and they jumped right on.

Lotus Eater
50+ bucks a concert For what concert did they charge over $50, or over $45? I hope you're not counting service charges, because that's Ticketmaster's shit.

Im just really pissed that theyre wannabee emos. Its a fucking trend, and they jumped right on. if they cared about thier fans??? you mean you dont you? just because you cant see them in the places you want to doenst mean they have to do those venues. I struggle to afford to see the band play live. as it stands I seriously dont think I `ll be making the next tour. but thats down to me not them. slagging them off for having younger fans is stupid. they dont choose their fans. they put out he music they believe in. they dress the way they want to. they do what ever they want to because they want to. the day they start doing things just to satisfy the fans I`ll fucking shoot myself. the one thing about bands... is that as with us so called normal people, we develope, we struggle and find our way through life. we do what we have to do to stay sane. green day are in a totally insane situation being in a band as big as they are right now, with so many people making demands of them. this is why I seriously hope they never read any of the forums. just get the hell off and ignore the shit because its way worse than you will ever read in the newspapers. you get a band like green day, with passionate fans, and those fans all to easily get possesive. all too easily come to think that they have a right to tell the band how to dress, how to talk, what songs to play at gigs. all that shit. simple responce. fuck you! long may the guys do what they do so well. and fuck what people who dont understand say. you dont own green day. none of us do. if you dont like what they are doing. if you dont agree with their current direction... then quit bitching and go find another band to support. you have no control over this. none of us do. if their "path" has divurged from yours.. so be it. Guest n1i0m3r9od
I don't believe they've sold out... ..But, the only thing that gets me is their drastic change in appearance. Other then that, they're still pretty much the same.
mbk
they were $47.50 before extra charges at both ai shows i attended. I paid $45 for one ticket, $30 for the others, and one was free (it was a free show). Since their shows sell out in a matter of seconds, they could clearly be charging much more. Other bands that are as successful and long-lived are charging way more.

sarah!
i don't think they're sellouts at all, i think that's too harsh. i think they COULD be, if they pumped ai any more but they're not going to as far as i'm aware. the movie.....ehh. it'd suck balls if they were acting in it themselves, i just think it would. would suck less so with proper actors but even so, can't you just see teenies FLOODING to that? i want more music more than i want more merch, personally. but at the same time, they're their own people and based on what they've done in the past i'd say they'll come good. i dont think we can comment on stuff like lookout with any degree of real authority cos we only know what press releases tell us. green day are like the signiature band to my life. so, i respect them, and i think we should let them get on with it. it's their band, at the end of the day.
