Green Day will release the album "Hillside Dance" in 2025

While I don’t think OP is trolling, I do think someone at the show they went to who they overheard it from could’ve been trolling. Either that or it’s a compilation album. I just don’t see them releasing and promoting a new album next year after just releasing Saviors and having a pretty stacked schedule the first half of 2025. They’re not a band that pushes out new music that quickly and also, I think they’re really genuinely enjoying this period of their career and celebrating Saviors/Dookie/AI.

Billie wrote it after Obama won the election. It didn’t fit the overall theme of 21cb as it was bright sunny and poppy and not dark.

The band sat on lots of songs around this time, I think in 2008 they were working with about 45 songs. As we know, some rolled into the trilogy and others are in the vault.

I could see them do a second Shenanigans style comp. The tour was wildly successful and there’s been a strong fan reaction to the anniversary releases and demos. There isn’t a better time to release this.

Dream Catcher and Oh Girl are still so good haunting me like I’m forever chasing a ghost. I really hope these get properly recorded and released. A new Demolicious or Shenanigans type album would be awesome.

- AI Era: B-Sides (so that folks that can't get/don't want the box set or don't want to chase down the singles can have them) + I Fought The Law

- 21CBD Era: B-sides & covers possibly including Working Class Hero & The Simpsons Theme

- Trilogy Era: The four "Otis" remixes

- RevRad Era: Xmas Time of the Year

- FOAMF to Present: Here Comes The Shock, Holy Toledo, Dreaming, Pollyanna, Fever

- Maybe the two tracks they did with Iggy Pop?

Easily more than enough for one album. Plus there's a plethora of unreleased/unofficially released material should they choose to release any. There are still more Dookie demos (studio and 4-track), Nimrod session outtakes, Warning session outtakes, Ramones "I Want You Around" cover, the C&V material that remains/"John Roecker disc" tracks, Wonderful, 21CBD version of Drama Queen, early version of the 21CBD title track that leaked, more Trilogy demos, Trilogy outtakes, Damn Juvenile Delinquents, and who knows what else lurks in the vaults that we are unaware of. Just what we know of could fill up a box set.

The vocal melody is the same, just like black eyeliner has the melody of kill your friends in it. The songs are for sure completely different

Hillside Dance was a joke fake album name on this forum that people made fake album covers for on MS paint and stuff 16 years ago. If the person was a GD fan they honestly might have been trolling you. Amazing if true and the name actually came from something real all that time ago lol. But people aren't being "judgemental" they're just reacting based on the info we already know about that name.

I was unaware that they re-recorded 2000 Light Years Away during the Dookie sessions. We did get a Dookie-era version that was released on a movie soundtrack but it was just a remix that was done by Rob Cavallo and Jerry Finn, Dookie's production team. It sounds the same other than the fact that they changed the guitar tone and made the snare drum sound more solid.

IS writen on dookie 30 booklet by rob cavallo, and copyed on wikipedia... But IS strange not being included in the outtakes album if this IS true ...

Oh, weird. I haven't read everything in the booklet yet. Maybe they weren't happy with it and decided it was best to just remix the original for that movie soundtrack (The Jerky Boys Movie). That's the only scenario that makes sense to me, anyway.

Many things are considered "fake" until they become reality. There is substance to this title as there is even an unreleased song recorded with that title potentially the opener of the album. The fact that this was considered 16 years ago, didn't make it to an album doesn't make it a troll. The discussion was a serious one and I can distinguish between a joke / troll and a serious conversation with multiple people. I don't want to get anyone into trouble so just enjoy this piece of info.

IIRC the complete concept of the Hella Mega Tour (3 major bands on tour together) was first rumored on GDC.

Wasn‘t there even a rumor before that U2, Metallica and Green Day could go on tour together?

So if this does happen as a b-sides album, let's make a list of what will probably be on it. I'm not expecting them to give us anything we haven't heard yet, probably just stuff that was released here and there but never on an album. Lights out, hearts collide, here comes the shock, dreaming, Pollyanna, Xmas time of year, and Holy Toledo. Maybe the American idiot b-sides too but idk since they just released them as part of the box set

Yeah it's cool that you shared what you heard and obviously very cool if it's true. But it's also funny (and absolutely hilarious if it's true) because of the history of it here . It was a fun time on the forum so hearing that mentioned again brings back memories.

"I Don't Want To Know If You Are Lonley" technically wasn't a studio recording, it was basically performed live without a crowd, so I dunno, they could go either way with that one. It's always bothered me that the guitar is barely audible on that recording.

As for the early songs such as their first demo tape, I don't believe they have the master recordings in their possession, judging by the demo of Sweet Children that they released on the Turn It Around Documentary soundtrack, it still sounds like an old, degraded cassette. Same for the Dookie demos, the ones on the Dookie box set were ripped from the tape and the session that featured "Walking The Dog" was even the same bootleg version in bad quality. Either the master tapes were wiped out or thrown away because they didn't care about demos or they're collecting dust in someone's attic or basement.
