pacejunkie punk
That was a weird ending with that guy playing Good Riddance. I think Billie regretted picking him they kind of blew him off at the end. Glad they played Bobby Sox it sounded so good. Just two Saviors songs tonight and no Belushi

Undómiel
Interesting, apart from missing some key *points* The Guardian review did note that it is a bit strange to have GD headline coachella, given that it's often about elaborate choreography and costumes, something which Green Day are not exactly known for. Post Beychella is all about spectacle, and it might have been a bit of an odd choice? Did they do it, like they do so many things, just to prove that they can? Yes because it's something they haven't done that they can check off their list and I think it matters to them that they do it their way and not change their performance to match what others do, but to present themselves authentically as a way of saying, this is us, this is our show and this is what we do and we do it very very well.

Yeah, I've got no problem with it (obviously). They fuckin rocked as they always do, and I love to see them conquer everything they want. I just want everyone to love them as much as I do, so the idea of a *potentially* lukewarm crowd makes me squirm a bit.

Just two Saviors songs tonight and no Belushi I don't know why he picked him to be honest. Not trying to discriminate, I suppose there is reverse pretty privilege too, but I think it should have been abundantly obvious from the start that he was a show-off (not a die hard GD fan) and then on stage that is exactly how he acted. I mean everything from his style to his demeanour gives it away. In terms of his behaviour on stage, I get that people on stage can get excited and run off (I think I might without meaning to) and being on stage is obviously a thrilling experience. But that's not what this was, this guy was strutting off calmly, boldly, chest out, as if he owned the stage and, I think crucially, he kept ignoring Billie. Never really looked at him. Eww. Always seemed rock solidly looking forward, "into the cameras". What I think was the most awkward thing was that one point when he was kind of standing in front of Billie, blocking him from view for a solid half minute with a "look at me me me" attitude. And you could see him holding onto the guitar for dear life at the end, refusing to give it back, and then he threw the goddamn pick into the audience!! Yeah, not cool. So Billie's reaction was warranted, that guy did not deserve to be up there. It all seemed like he did this for an Insta or TikTok reel, and tbh given so many influencers attend Coachella, it could well have been that. Shame, 9/10 people are overjoyed and grateful, being on stage, but I mean, this is Coachella, which probably increases the frequency of self-absorbed spoilt brats, so it's not reaaaallly usual Green Day territory anyway. The only thing I'll say in this guy's defence is I don't think Good Riddance is particularly conducive to fans being up on stage, regardless of who it is. It's such a personal song in my view, as a show closer, and I think all attention should be on Billie and then Mike and Tré.
MillenniumFan Posted yesterday at 01:31 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:31 PM On a different note, just watched the full show recording and damn Billie looked and sounded fine I had a friend of mine, like super casual fan, text me about their Coachella performance, I think he liked the political statements and just thought the performance in general seemed great, it appears to have made the rounds online, so I think overall it was a net positive for the guys, even if I get that Coachella is not really their crowd.
