Green Day nominated for 3 Grammy Awards

In a way you can’t feel bad about losing to The Beatles and The Stones but on the other hand, how long are bands going to have to keep losing to the Beatles and the Stones? Like everyone I thought they had the best shot at Dilemma for song that one really hurts. This album may be their last best chance at Grammy recognition. Very sad about it 😢

Well the Stones I get it (even if I would have still preferred Green Day to win),  they released a new album in the the 2023/2024 cycle too.... but The Beatles?

This won’t be their last pretty soon they will automatically win like the stones and Beatles. I bet their next record is successful abs gets nominated for many categories

I hope the band is not too disappointed and that they managed to enjoy the rest of the show.

In a bigger scheme of things, last time I paid any attention to the Grammy's was the year they performed with the American Idiot cast, and it's sad to see how rock categories are considered as "irrelevant" now, and rock artists are not making it into main categories now

But well,  as @jengd said, at least I can go to bed now 😅

I get the Stones probably had the best one or two songs on their album of all those nominated, but really the Green Day and Jack White albums were a lot deeper. And alternative awards aren’t even alternative really anymore with St. Vincent winning most if not all of those, though at least that album had a good song or two.

Now they HAVE to win something in March when the iHeart music awards goes on. Also, if you guys have voted before me and a bunch of other people need help in the "Green Day nominated for iHeart Radio 2025" thread. We can't figure out how to vote for Green Day, loll.

Kind of like Meryl Streep being nominated for a billion Oscars. I’m sure at a certain point other actresses are like “okay she’s great, but seriously?” Lol.

If this year’s wins tell us anything, the boys are a shoe-in for whatever they release when they’re 80.

The red carpet is before the main event. Rock categories were given out during the premiere ceremony earlier but I don’t know if Green Day were even there. They will be attending the prime time ceremony but are not performing

Ugh I can't believe they didn't win a single one! I was certain they would take home at least one award. Losing to the Stones? Fine, they at least put out a new album. But the Beatles? As far as I know, that was a previously unreleased song and they automatically get nominated? That fucking blows.

Regardless of the quality of the other nominations, The Beatles winning a Grammy in 2025 is a naff gimmick, especially when AI had to be used to lift Lennon's voice from an ancient tape. No, that's not quite the same as someone using AI to write a song, but as far as I'm concerned no art is 'legit' if AI is involved in its creation.

The Beatles should not have been eligible, but not because of the AI thing. That argument is kinda ridiculous to me

I stop caring for music awards when they're giving awards to pop  bands (or used to be rock bands but they shifted to mainstream pop genre) on the best rock category😂

Ok, yall are being ridiculous with the AI thing. Literally nothing is AI generated, it's all still sourced from human content. This technology has existed in forms for decades, just never had the ability to do as much as it can now. It's practically the same type of tool as noise reduction, but with a large dataset.

 

Saying the beatles shouldn't have been eligible just because the song was written in 1980 and partially recorded in 1994 is hardly an excuse. Green Day could've won, but being salty that they didn't is lame.

Well, that's not the main reason most of us are "being salty". We are just all disappointed that they didn't win. The Beatles and the Rolling Stones are classic bands, but they are pretty old. Putting current bands up against older bands isn't fair. As I said before, the Beatles and the stones had their time, now it is the current bands' turn to be great. The AI thing is just another factor to it. You can have your opinion, that is fine, but we can have ours as well, and we shouldn't get called "salty and lame" just for speaking our minds .

Yeah, im not trying to be mean, just sayin. You got to admit though, AI is starting to get scary. It can copy voices, faces, steal your job etc.
