I'm really confused about the VIP tickets for Stockholm. I mean, how does early entry work at a festival? Or is that one different from other festivals?

And why are they selling different VIP tickets for different ages? There are tickets for 18+ and tickets for 13+ 😅

They had separate lines for different tickets last year so I assume they'll do the same next year. I guess it will be one for VIP, one for premium and one for GA. Last year they didn't have VIP, it was just premium and GA and premium had early entry. It wasn't a problem. I think it's rather shitty of them to sell VIP tickets for just one festival though. 🙃

It's an own area at the festival for 18+.

I reckon we should consider this Stockholm show more as a own headliner show with a few opening bands rather than a regular festival.

Ah, I see.

Yeah, that's what's confusing. I think they haven't done those VIP tickets for any of the festivals this year and it looks like they aren't for any of the others for next year.

Don't say that 😅 That could make me considering of going 🙈😅

It just comes of as greedy to me tbh.😔 The only positive thing is that it's in a big city and not in the middle of nowhere.

This is what I'm thinking too. If I understood it right, "STHLM Fields" is a series of one-day "festivals". I don't see it as an actual festival, since it only has four bands. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. 😄

Billie once mentioned in an interview—before Hella Mega, I think—that they want to tour “more effectively” in the future. Whatever that means. Maybe it suggests playing fewer solo shows and moving away from the idea of an exhausting arena tour.

Does anyone know the interview I’m talking about?

i know this interview, it was the time when they joined CRUSH

their "normal" touring ended since then, it looks like they aim for making money in the first place (cant blame them, still shitty for their fans)

they play their huge solo shows in the US (ticket prices are over the top in the states), but in europe you can get more money if you are a big headliner, plus no need for all the infrastructure/organisation stuff when doing a complet solo tour

i dont think that they got exhausted from normal solo touring, because they still have a very packed touring schedule, so yeah i guess money is the biggest reason

we have a expression in germany for what greenday are doing the recent years in europe: they became "festival bitches"

I think the festival thing is a bit of a double-edged sword for a band like Green Day.  Playing big festivals is a great way to reach music lovers who aren’t necessarily into your music but who loved the performance and then maybe turn to your music, on the other hand, the fans want to see you on your own.  Also, once you have played stadiums and been so lauded for so long as a great live band, it’s pretty hard to scale back just because your genre isn’t so popular.  Did you all see Ryan Bailey’s post from the other day? Can’t find it to share, but he was saying he hadn’t realised before touring the GD that they have no backing or click track, he couldn’t believe it.  I think it explains the lack of variation in set lists but if you want to compete with other huge productions (often part fake) then you have to make compromises.   I can totally see why they do what they do.

Thinking I might go to the Stockholm one as well. Had decided I wouldn’t bother for another festival but it looks like the trip won’t be so expensive so it’s tempting.

The fact they have no click track is phenomenal considering how in sync they are. Tré keeping everyone in line 😯

I do get this touring "more effectively" thing to a degree.

I mean I wouldn't want GD to exhaust themselves and just decide to not tour or play live at all. They are getting older after all, (and so am I!🤣).

I also get why playing festivals is important to attract new fans, and also why playing them is easier. What I don't particularly understand though is this seemingly muddled mixture of the two. You either decide to do just a run of festivals next year and no solo headline shows, or play a decent string of solo headline shows. That way people are less disappointed and frustrated, or feel short changed at 'only getting a festival show'. (Yes I am including myself in this, even though I'm sure I'll be buzzing after the festival and just feel so damn grateful that I got to see the guys play again!😆)

Just says front of stage but I was very confused by all the categories, it’ll be fine I’m sure 😅 very little choice left even second night.

Front of stage should be fine. I‘ve got that too, for both nights… And I like how many people of this community will come to Vienna. Would love to meet some of you there!

counting wien one time, just looking at actual "locations/cities" they visit

i know summer means festivals, but compared to other bands its just getting ridiculous (weezer just announced their summer tour in europe, 9 stops and only 2 being festival shows

they didnt do a proper tour since ~2017, but still since covid they regularly visit europe, mainly to play festival shows

i just dont get it, they do their full solo tours in the US, why not in europe anylonger? they've become a festival band at this rate, cant blame them, but its just weird

As easy as money. The festivals took more risks to pay more money to the band. I hate festivals, but sometimes it's the only way to see bands (like this year in Madrid for example...And the organization was horrible)

I'll be going alone to both Vienna shows and would also love to meet whomever is up for it from the community 🙂

I will also be at Amsterdam, although I'm going with a friend and his partner to that one.

And... it's quite safe to assume there won't be any more dates in Europe, right? If this is it, I might buy a ticket for Luxembourg too.

It's an own area at the festival for 18+.

The age thing confuses me. Is 13+ the same as GA or is it meant for the kids?

The 13+ tickets is regular GA tickets. The 18+ tickets are premium tickets. They have their own area of the festival which is smaller then the GA section.
