Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. If there’s a solo show in Germany, it’s gotta be on June 23 or 24 (Hurricane/Southside will almost definitely be on the 20th and 21st; when they played there before, they did one show after another without any days off in between). But there’s still no date for France, so they might play there on the 23rd/24th.

There's no date for Poland as well and the gap between Hurricane/Southside and Oslo is perfect for that :toocool:

Like I said earlier, I'm not predicting it or penciling it in, but Bilbao BBK is that same weekend as Mad Cool in Spain and NOS Alive in Portugal. If I had to bet I'd say the tour would end in Greece, but just saying there are possibilities in Spain/Portugal if the money is right. It just feels weird that they'll skip Spain, Portugal, and France on this Europe run. I think that extra show on the 23rd or 24th would be in Germany, if it was in France, I don't see why they wouldn't announce it yet with the other individual shows.

I assume they’ll start the tour again in early June on the Iberian Peninsula, followed by France, the UK, and the rest of the locations that are already known.

Is there a festival in Poland that hasn’t announced yet during that week? I think that gap if there’s a show would have to be in Germany that they can’t announce yet, if that show were in another country and outside the radius clause of Hurricane/Southside, they would’ve announced it along with the other solo shows

That’s right: in 2017, they announced the solo show in Germany (Munich) quite some time after the announcement of Hurricane/Southside. This is probably regulated by contract to make sure ticket sales don’t interfere with each other.

There is Lollapalooza in Paris and as far as I know they still haven't announced a headliner for Friday night, which is July 18th... I wonder if maybe that is their plan if they are indeed sticking to festivals.

To only do Download fuckin' sucks.

I HATE FESTIVALS.

FML.

Also just had a look and it looks like Download don't do solo day tickets? You can only buy for the whole weekend?

Oh, well if there's no other option, guess I'll do it. Not happy about it though.

I’m actually excited that they’re most likely playing Download. It’s a festival they never played before to a different type of crowd, and it very well might be one of their largest crowds ever with Download’s capacity

You're more excited than me then!lo! I mean what are the chances of getting nearish the front with a decent view?😮‍💨 You're just not selling it to me tbh...I mean saying that, I'm still planning on going just for GD! A girl has take whatever GD breadcrumbs she can get!🤪

The thing is if GD wanted to play other festivals/places they haven't been, or to think outside the box for venues I could think of loads of places. All they need to do is look at a Google map of the UK! They could have played in Cardiff, or smaller shows like the forest live shows, or at racecourses (I mean it's good enough for Justin Timberlake!🤭) I know it all come down to money and scale of show at the end of the day, but still...just one ginormous festival. Oh well. Maybe next tour cycle, in however many years.🤞😁

I waited 4 hours in the pouring rain to see Busted at Haydock Park this year. You've now put the thought/hope/delusion in my mind that I'll be doing the same for Green Day at somepoint 😅

Download is very strict unfortunately. One of the reasons why GD never headlined Download until this year

I just tried to verify this: none of the headliners at this year's Download Festival (FOB, Queens of the Stone Age, Avenged Sevenfold) played a show of their own in the UK (neither Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Ireland) this summer. the only exception is Royal Blood, but they weren't the headliners either.

Is Download 100% certain? I really hope not.

I'm just tired of all the festivals and huge shows with three or four support bands (or worse for festivals).

They played stadium shows in England and across Europe both in 2022 and last year, the only festival they played in England in a while was Isle of Wight which still allowed them to play the stadium shows last summer in the UK. With as much competition there is in the summer for tours, Green Day probably doesn't think there is the demand for more stadium shows, instead headlining a festival they never headlined before that happens to be very strict with their headliners. It's why Foo Fighters, Blink, GD, etc never headlined Download before.

For me personally the stadiums with multiple bands are equally bad as far as I'm concerned (and I was too sick to attend Hella Mega in any case). I'm an older fan and a festival is out of the question for me even if I was interested in the other bands which I'm not.

The complaint is partly about these stadium shows with multiple bands though. No one wants them and it's been 7 years since the last normal show in the UK (Sheffield Arena in 2017). There's a cost of living crisis here at the moment so not everyone can afford to fly out to the EU shows. It's inevitable that a lot of British fans will be disappointed if they play an exclusive festival.

Disclaimer: Obviously I'm not personally affected because I've already seen them on this tour, but I'm sad for the British fans who haven't and won't if Download is confirmed.

It’s pretty unlikely they’ll go back to Mad Cool after what happened in 2017; seems like they don’t have a great relationship with that festival. If they don’t start the tour in Spain at the beginning of June like they did this year —and this time it looks like they’re starting with Download in the UK on the 13th— I don’t think Spain will get a show, unfortunately. The tour will most likely end in Athens.

I think exactly as you. They came back to the same place as Mad Cool '17 this year, but the festival was a new one, and not organized by the guys of Mad Cool (by the way, I know the webmaster of the festival from that year, and he doesn't have a good opinion about them too).

I don't know about Green Day, but nowadays bands like Rolling Stones I know (from what I read about in the net) they only have one stage to save costs (and we are talking about the Rolling Stones!). If they are doing that, it won't surprise me that Green Day does the same thing, so Greece sounds like the last stop of the Euro tour.
But, maybe, even with one stage, I guess they could send if back to the Iberian Peninsula for those final shows in a week. I mean, my parents were on a boat trip from Italy to Greece and they do it in one week with stops, besides, I guess the band are going to need the stage to be back to the USA. (But that doesn't sound good monetary speaking, as they would need to pay their crew a "full week" without shows).

As my theory about the Barcelona Rock Fest is discarded as they announced a show in Oslo for the 26th and Denmark on the 28th, only have 3 theories about Spain:
- They will start the tour again in Spain, maybe their own headline show as I don't know about a festival in those dates which it isn't a metal festival (but who knows, the Madrid show this year was a new festival).
- They are going back from Greece to Spain, but doesn't sound right monetary speaking to me to the final(s) shows of the tour. I can't see them doing Mad Cool again and BBK Live sounds to me the only logical place, maybe NOS Festival in Lisboa too.
- No show at all in Spain/Portugal. which I could thing is possible. I remember when they did the surprise show in Madrid and the MTV show in Sevilla, Billie Joe said Spain would be on the map for the 2021 tour and not the 2020. Could be the next year Spain is not an option, as for example they did like 4-5 shows in the UK and the next year sounds Download Festival would be the only UK show.
