The sound blew out but fans got a special show with air guitar, other funny antics and Angel Blue, Peacemaker and Rusty James. This is an excerpt from a fan story in the We Are Revolution Radio book. The lovely lady who wrote it described her journey with Green Day through her favourite songs from each album and from ¡Uno! it was Angel Blue, which she got to hear at this show. This is one of my favourite stories in the book. Sticking the full thing in a spoiler in case anyone would like to read the rest: Spoiler (I've cropped that really badly... printing the books was expensive and it's been 7 years so I'd like to release it as a free PDF, but it's a huge file and my internet connection is too shit to upload it ) More photos: Spoiler 23 years ago (19 November 2001), Green Day played Hitchin' a Ride on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. solongfromthestars
On this day 8 years ago (21 November 2016), Green Day played on Jimmy Kimmel Live. More photos: Spoiler 20 years ago (21 November 2004), Green Day played the Cox Arena in San Diego, CA on the American Idiot Tour. "It was the best show I have ever been to. A great memory of my favorite band. It was amusing when Billie Joe stuck his hand down his pants making it look like he was jacking off and then sniffed his hand. It was hilarious! During Knowledge he called people up to play that song. When he asked for a guitar player to come up, he asked the guy if got laid, then Billie asked if he got his cock sucked before, so he called him on stage ans said well you're about to right now. Then he kissed him, gave him his guitar, and made him say the magic word (not please), SAN DIEGO! They made all the songs longer and Billie made a funny ass laugh in the middle of Hitchin' A Ride. And he did the crown thing with King For A Day and the crowd thing with Brain Stew. He introduced himself as Jimmy before St. Jimmy. And he called a kid on stage to squirt people with a supersoaker." — fan experience 29 years ago (21 November 1995), Green Day played the MECCA Arena in Milwaukee, WI on the Insomniac Tour. "Billie Joe Armstrong pulled a Jim Morrison and exposed himself to 6,000 fans at the Mecca Auditorium, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. That was, of course, Armstrong's clever way of letting Green Day fans who understand Green Day-ese know that the Mecca was a mediocre show. Armstrong told ATN during an interview on Halloween that he only drops trou at so-so shows. Unfortunately, this time mooning the crowd, if you'll excuse the expression, backfired. After Green Day finished their hour long set, police officers took Armstrong to the Milwaukee police station, where he was cited for indecent exposure. After he paid the bail of $141.85, he was released. But why don't we let Lt. Thomas Christopher of the Milwaukee PD explain what happened, as only law enforcement can: 'Mr. Armstrong dropped his pants to his knees and exposed his buttocks to the crowd. After the concert, Mr. Armstrong was taken into custody, given a city citation for indecent exposure. He posted a bail and was released.' Thomas said this was not an actual arrest, and Armstrong is only required to go to court if he intends to contest the charge. Otherwise, he'll commit a 'civil forfeiture' and the city will take a 'default judgment.' Which means if Billie Joe doesn't come back to Milwaukee to fight for his right to drop trou, the city gets to keep the chump change. Officers went out of their way not to disrupt the concert, in order to avoid a potential riot. Instead they waited until the last notes were played and apprehended Armstrong on the way to his limo. 'The problem was he exposed himself to a crowd of about 6,000 people,' said Lt. Christopher. 'Including people as young as ten. That was our main reason for taking the action.'" 33 years ago (21 November 1991), Green Day played Hirscheneck in Basel, Switzerland. It was their first Swiss show. 16 hours ago, jengd said: How can it be 8 years??!! Feels like yesterday and a long time ago at the same time! The kid started chanting "No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA" and I joined in. The gentleman and his daughter clearly didn't like it and scurried off to find a different seat! Another guy then joined in and we had the row left to the three of us dancing all night (although I did have to sit for the encore because my arthritis was playing up 😂)
Popular Post solongfromthestars
🚨 ATTENTION! 🚨 The insignificance of Green Day cannot be overstated. Before we allow the author to continue po̴̢̩̗̲̬̹̯̿͆͜sting about this pathetic band, the representative̸̛̤̠̺͛̈́͋̋̏͘s of The Network must make clear what is truly important. 21 years ago in the timeframes that earthlings understand (22 November 2003), the greatest band in this universe and all alternate ones visited your planet. They actually played the Key Club in West Hollywood for a crowd of mere mortals. Such benevolent men! The seminal film “Disease Is Punishment” was recorded on this fateful night. Facts about The Network: 🚨 They are not Green Day. 🚨 They were brought together by an ancient prophecy. 🚨 The members include Mongo Fink, Van Gough, The Snoo, Z, Captain Underpants and Balducci. 🚨 Those who do not evolve will find themselves disconnected from The Network. 🚨 Some say they are Swiss, but it is more likely that they just use Swiss passports when they visit Earth, as they probably hail from planets we are yet to discover or even the vacuum of space itself. 🚨 They are experienced travellers of space and time. 🚨 They founded the Church of Lushotology. 🚨 Van Gough does not remember who he is after finding himself in an alternate universe. His ordeal was emotionally recounted in the hit song Amnesia Vagabond. 🚨 They are not Green Day. 🚨 While The Network were on one of their many intergalactic tours, a squatter moved into The Snoo’s flat. They left McDonald’s wrappers in the trash and… something worse in the sink. 🚨 Mind control is another one of their talents and was used to write this post. 🚨 Spike is still waiting for his mother to give him $200. Due to the duration of his wait, he now needs $2,000. 🚨 Billy Jo of the inferior band Green Day has said, “All I gotta say is fuck The Network. These guys are totally spreading rumors." 🚨 The mortal we are currently mind controlling wrote a Pokémon fanfiction featuring some masked musicians named Van Der Gouge, Bongo Blink, The Poo, X and Lieutenant Diaper. Naturally, these geniuses exposed the story’s criminal syndicate. The Network are supreme, even when found in garbage! 🚨 Hey Elon! You are too late. The Network have already visited Mars. 🚨 They have also proved it’s flat, like Mercury and Earth. 🚨 Billy Jo has continued to harass these innocent time travellers, even saying “fuck Switzerland” after playing a few lines of the incomparable Money Money 2020 at a New Year’s Eve party in 2019. 🚨 They are not Green Day. Disinfect, sả̶̲̙̃̀̒̈́̔̈̓̌͊́͂̎̕t̶̬̖̠̳̫̜̮̺̎͑̔̽̉̃͌̓͊͊̅͊̌̕ellite, disconnect, good night! ...Looks like those Swiss bastards got me again, but anyway. Another photo: Spoiler -------------------- On this day 24 years ago (27 November 2000), Green Day played the Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisboa, Portugal on the Warning Tour. 30 years ago (27 November 1994), Green Day played the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA on the Dookie Tour. "We had been warned of trouble looming at a show in Fairfax, VA, a conservative suburb outside Washington, DC. The gig was at the Patriot Center at George Mason University. George Mason, a father of the Bill of Rights, refused to sign the Declaration of Independence because it didn't guarantee enough rights and freedoms. (Were he still alive, he'd be cast out of Virginia; although its state slogan is "Virginia Is For Lovers", in 1994, Virginia had an anti-sodomy law.) The promoter told Green Day in advance that they wouldn't allow us [Pansy Divison] to play, that we were inappropriate; Green Day's response to the promoter was that if we didn't play, they wouldn’t play. The promoter backed down, but when we arrived, he pulled me aside for a lecture. In a friendly-yet-stern way, he said our material was too mature for Green Day’s young audiences. He said that there would be eight-to-12-year-olds in the crowd. I asked why he was worried about our lyrics and not Green Day’s, which also have some references that might not be suitable. And who were these kids, anyway? What parents were letting their kids go to concerts so young? I told him, if they’re that young, much of what we sing about is going to go right over their heads; they won’t get it. But they’ll know they saw a gay band, and it will get them talking one way or the other. To us, that would be a victory, meaning we’ve infiltrated Pat Robertson country. This guy kept saying things like he had a lesbian sister, that he was for gay rights, but not in these circumstances. He said he was dreading the day-after phone calls from parents. I told him I had the right to sing about it, kids had the right not to be censored, and what we sang about was part of the world we live in. Virginia was a sodomy-law state; the discrimination was written into state law. To counter years of hetero propaganda these kids had heard — and would continue to hear — a few bad words and risqué songs wouldn’t do them any harm. This discussion went in circles for 15 minutes, until I finally told him it was a waste of my time. When we played, the reception was mixed but more supportive than I’d feared; it was the only show we played with Green Day in the South." — Jon Ginoli of Pansy Division 33 years ago (27 November 1991), Green Day played the Revolver Club in Madrid, Spain. He used to sit in my math class on the third floor of the ancient, run down brick building in the back of the room right next to the window. He had a perfect view of 'Tight Wad Hill.' I don't remember if he was a good student ... if he did his homework or got good grades. But I do remember him as a good person, he got along with just about everyone (except, perhaps, the vice principal) and he was pretty cool, mature for his age. My biggest disappointment is that he once invited me to come and see his band, Sweet Children. I didn't go. I don't remember why. Now, with Green Day's success, I'd kill to have seen that band. Anyway the first time I saw Green Day is when they played an arena in Seattle in 1995. Someone threw a shoe at Billie Joe and he got pissed off and cut the set short. I liked the Nimrod tour a lot more. My wife and I saw Green Day play a small club on Dec. 2, 1997 and the show kicked ass. Green Day just wasn't made to play arena shows. Anyway, I'm a big fan. I wear my Green Day shirt to school every now and again. And I've got a Green Day poster up on the wall. It's cool to tell my students that Billie Joe was once one of my students. A few of them don't believe me, oh well. Hey, Billie Joe. I bet none of your other teachers have asked for a back stage pass. Next time you come to Seattle, what do you say? I'd like to party with a rock star and a former student!" — John Goar 29 years ago (2 December 1995), Green Day played the Auditorium in West Palm Beach, FL on the Insomniac Tour. 30 years ago (2 December 1994), Green Day played the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY on the Dookie Tour. "As with the show in LA, Whip It was played right before Green Day came on. Billie, Mike, and Tre ran onto the stage. Everyone went wild. Then with no intro, Billie starts with, 'Here we go again,' then Mike and Tre join in. After like the third song, some prick in the audience started throwing shit at Mike. Mike warned him by stating, 'If you throw anything else, I'm going to beat your fucking ass.' Well, after the next song, Mike jumped into the crowd to do just that, beat that kid's ass. Guess who it was? It was Mark Hoppus from the band Blink-182. (What a dick!) Anyway, they played just about everything I could have asked for (save for Eye Of The Tiger). They even brought a kid up on stage to play Knowledge with them. Billie is hilarious. He made fun of Bush, Matchbox 20, and especially Marilyn Manson. He even sang The Beautiful People over the bass line of Longview. At the end of the show, as always, Mike and Tre trashed the stage while Billie played around with his guitar playing some nasty-ass chords. Then he closed with Good Riddance. I swear to God it brought tears to my eyes. It was the best show I ever seen." — Rick Savage 29 years ago (8 December 1995), Green Day played the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, TX on the Insomniac Tour. 32 years ago (8 December 1992), Green Day played Thunder Bay in Berkeley, CA. 33 years ago (8 December 1991), Green Day played Vort'n Vis in Ypres, Belgium. "I was there, interviewed Billie Joe and Tre for my zine. They were really nice, we talked for 30 minutes on the first floor. And their concert was excellent! They played for 45 minutes, good level of energy, they seemed to enjoy themselves. I went to a lot of gigs at the Vort'n Vis at that time and I definitely respect them more than many of 'DIY' hardcore punk bands playing drunk, being very sloppy and touring Europe solely for sightseeing and free beer." — Philippe Klur Interestingly, someone else said the opposite: "Mike Dirnt, Tré Cool and Billie Joe Armstrong acted really 'cool'. They weren't very friendly, mildly put. Were they having a 'green day'? Or were they expecting a fancier venuer? Never saw any photos of that gig. The only trace of their passage seems to be the entry in the Vort'n Vis guestbook." — 90's Vort'n Vis 35 years ago (8 December 1989), Green Day played 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, CA.
