As you said, age is not a bad thing and they are beautiful ❤️. But it does depend on the image however, sometimes in a picture Billie looks his age but in other images he reminds me of how he looked in 2005 (despite hair color). Same with Mike and Tre. Again, they are all beautiful no matter how old they get. ❤️. I am actually glad that they are not like other celebrities who are scared to age. This was my first Longshot show! And that's me in the pink/blue check shirt in the photo. I'd just started a new job when the tour was announced, but Love is for Losers was and still is one of my favourite things any member of Green Day has ever done, so I knew I had to make it out to the US somehow. Everyone in the training room was trying for tickets and in the end we were all screaming. The big boss walked in and was like "...what the hell is The Longshot?" As soon as I got home, I booked everything for @Rumpelstiltskin2000 and me, which is probably still the best gift I've ever given anyone. I arrived at the venue a bit after 6AM and was 8th in line, which got me that amazing spot in front of Kevin. As soon as they started playing Fell For You, I screamed so loud it made Billie smile, and when the song ended I turned to Rumpel and said, "I can die happy now." Some extracts from the recap I wrote back then: Spoiler "It wasn’t like Green Day, where Billie Joe is the final, dramatic entrance. The four of them strolled on stage together, smiling and waving to the crowd mere inches from them. I was staring in disbelief at Billie, at Kevin and his setlist taped to the amp in front of me, at David behind the Longshot kit that looked so new – like it was. They tore straight into Kill Your Friends. We were slammed into the stage in a surge I’d only ever experienced in England. All the tourist attractions we’d seen yesterday were long gone. The four walls that packed us in could have been anywhere. It might as well have been England, or maybe it was Washington DC. I’d felt like I was watching Green Day through a thick screen before, many times. Somehow, so close I could see the smallest features on their faces, this seemed more dreamlike than ever. I went to this show too since it was only a short train ride from DC. Me and @Rumpelstiltskin2000 are in front of Billie's mic on that photo – best spot I've ever had! I'm very glad I had my little ticket buying army because I ended up with spare tickets for DC, but wouldn't have got Baltimore without a particular hero who had never even bought concert tickets before. People from Baltimore told us not to line up before the sun rose. Someone was actually murdered right outside the Ottobar. We couldn't check into our Airbnb until later, though, so we just went to the venue. Whenever anyone passed, it was like, "murderer?!" They all cheerily said "morning" as if it was standard to see two English women sitting there with their luggage. We cheerily replied "morning" like it was our daily routine. A police car screeched past, sirens blaring. And THEN a big bus slowed down as it approached. I was absolutely certain it contained murderers. That had to be why it was slowing down. We were going to die. Even the roaches stopped scurrying. The bus turned in to the Ottobar's car park... and we heard singing. The murder wagon was The Longshot's tourbus. At some point during that very hot day (made hotter by the murder wagon pumping extra heat at us), I fell asleep. I woke up to Billie's shoes in front of me. He said he'd take a photo with one person, which would've been Rumpel since she was at the front of the queue, but she hesitated and I wasn't fast enough to shove her towards him before someone else barged in. It was very refreshing to see no-one chasing him when he left though. That was a mostly respectful crowd. The band waved when they came back and Bill kindly left the door open for a while so we could all hear the soundcheck. When the doors finally opened, it was totally surreal to just walk straight to the front row without a stampede behind me because that was the first time I'd ever been #1 in the queue. Murderer." "The thrill of the drum intro to Kill Your Friends hadn’t worn off. It wound up the crowd like a clockwork toy. One verse in and we were crushed. But no-one flinched. Billie demanded we clapped to Devil’s Kind. The crowd obeyed in force. I hardly had room to breathe, let alone jump, but I still did. It was impossible not to. This was what these shows were all about: nothing but the band, the crowd and passion. My voice was already hoarse. As we all screamed along to Taxi Driver, I looked at the faces around me and up on the stage; and not one was filled with anything but joy." "‘She’s my soul defender, don’t be so uptight! I… oh shit!’ Billie laughed, turned away and before he spun back round, saying, ‘I got it! I got it, I swear!’ the crowd was already filling in for him: ‘just me and my imagination! I swear I think I saw a ghost!’" "Soul Surrender is, to me, an incredibly intimate song. A lot of The Longshot's tracks are. Yet there was nothing uncomfortable for me, the band, anyone about sharing them with the other 350-or-so people in that room. Whatever our backgrounds, whatever we got from that show, we were experiencing it all together. It’s weird – I’ll never see most of those people again, yet in those sweaty crowds, we subconsciously learn so much about each other people in our ‘real lives’ will never see. ‘Send me a message through the window…’" After Bastards of Young, I shouted "Wild One" and Billie replied "I could say the same thing about you." I also got a concussion from his arse slamming my face into the amp over and over. Murderer! Anyway, I never wanted to forget how incredible those shows were, so I drew a design on the Greyhound back to NYC and got a Wild One tattoo from the first place I found... with a concussion. There are some very unflattering photos of me on the artist's Instagram. Poor bloke. He thought I'd been partying very hard because of all the blood but no, I was just concussed. No photos, but a message from The Rev: "Oh My! My dear Tub Heads, The first thing I want to say is, and I quote, "Aaaaarrrrrrooufjdjdidsndbvhdhuydhjhyhfjd!!!!!!!" We hit the sunset strip and a RIOT it was! All the honeydips and alligators were sunburned and packed into the hall called The Roxy! We shared the trip with Girls With Guns and sugartowns finest Mystic Knights of the Cobra. The crowd took down the stage, the monitor man did a dive and we took LSD in an asortment of tropical flavors! STING!!!! We hit the hotel with a freakshow of Girls and Cobras. We tried to wake my man Morrisey with soccer chants but we ended up naked in the pool where we were welcomed by the Hollywood Po Po at 4:00 am! STING!!!" On this day 14 years ago (30 May 2010), Green Day played in Hannover, Germany on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. This was the first show I ever went to outside England. We were in the seats and there was absolutely fuck all to do at Hannover Expo Plaza, so we just wandered around all day and met another English fan, an Italian fan and a lovely German mother and daughter (if you ever happen to see this, Julia, I wish I'd saved your email address! I lost access to the one I was using). A Welsh guy was sitting next to us. We had the best time dancing and shoving each other in our makeshift mini-pit. If you've never seen the video that features Tre stealing Coca Cola and Billie trying to pop a bubble-wrap dress, I highly recommend it. 22 years ago (2002), Green Day played in Wantagh, NY on the Pop Disaster Tour. 26 years ago (1998), Green Day played the WXRK 92.3 Dysfunctional Family Picnic – also in Wantagh, NY – on the Nimrod Tour. Spoiler Now I think this is a special one, but I suppose I'm biased. 11 years ago (2013), Green Day played Emirates Stadium in London, England, where they broke the attendance record with an over-capacity crowd. I've been to a lot of Green Day shows since 2009, so I can confidently say this was Green Day at their absolute best. It was a pretty basic setup compared to their last big show in London at Wembley Stadium, but there was something about the atmosphere, the band's contagious joy and the sound of 65,000 people singing every word to every song – yes, even the trilogy ones – that made it unlike any other. I can still hear the crowd echoing "FIRST TIME!" in Missing You like it was yesterday, and when I remember hearing Brutal Love live, I think of looking back to see a sea of thousands of lighters and phones waving in the darkness at Emirates. Billie called it the "best night EVER" on Instagram and it totally was. My biggest Green Day merch regret is not getting one of the replicas of Billie's Shepherd's Bush shirt though. I have no idea where that is. 33 years ago (1991), they played the Red Barn in Isla Vista, CA. Well, they actually played an acoustic set outside because the key was lost.
