Popular Post solongfromthestars
On this day 6 years ago (5 May 2018), The Longshot played in Phoenix, AZ. Thanks to Rumpel for finding Billie's selfie from that show (the only decent photo) because I've hardly saved anything from 2017 onwards. I unfollowed Longshot a while ago and now I can't get back in to look for photos for this project. 7 years ago (5 May 2017), Green Day played in Melbourne, Australia on the Revolution Radio Tour. That girl in the centre makes the whole photo. More photos: Spoiler 15 years ago, they played a short set on In Session With Zane Lowe at Maida Vale Studios. I actually remember listening to this on the radio. I got the date wrong and listened to the whole show that day just in case, so I was very excited when Green Day were actually on the following week. It was great. I've still got the cassette I recorded it on somewhere. "That one just fell out of our bums." – Tre on the Foxboro Hot Tubs "eBay!" – Billie Joe when Zane Lowe asked if he could keep his promo CD (he's actually a huge Green Day fan, so I doubt it ended up on eBay) More photos: Spoiler 19 years ago, Green Day played in Columbus on the American Idiot Tour. I don't have any photos of the show, but this photoshoot was done that day. 31 years ago (5 May 1993), they played in Wigan, England. "We're Green Day, but it's time to change the pace a little bit. We're Green Grass." — Tré Cool "Tré has broken his toe, so he can't do ballet for you this evening." — Billie Joe (however, the audience member they called up to "do ballet" was unsatisfactory, so Tre did some anyway) More photos 32 years ago (5 May 1992), Green Day played the Beacon Hill Bandshell in Victoria, Canada. There are more of these fab photos taken by Sarah Kramer on Instagram And finally, 34 years ago (5 May 1990), Green Day played one of their many shows at 924 Gilman Street. 3

More photos: Spoiler I'm just going to keep saying that I can't believe that tour was seven years ago, because what the fuck? When did that happen? Don't talk to me about how long it's been since the 99 Revolutions Tour. 19 years ago (2005), they played in Peoria, IL on the American Idiot Tour. 22 years ago (2002), they played in Selma, TX on the Pop Disaster Tour. 26 years ago (1998), they played in Schenectady, NY on the Nimrod Tour. Popular Post solongfromthestars
On this day 15 years ago (12 May 2009), Green Day played the 700-capacity Le Trabendo in Paris. That was a very tiny show considering how huge they were then. More photos: Spoiler There was also this press conference in Paris, although I'm not sure if it was on May 12th or the day before/after. More photos: Spoiler 26 years ago (1998), they played in Lewiston, ME, on the Nimrod Tour. These photos are from a radio interview that day. More photos: Spoiler And a ticket from the show: $21.50 for general admission! And 32 years ago (1992), they played the Ritz Diner in Edmonton, Canada on the Kerplunk Tour. "The first time Green Day came to Edmonton they played 2 shows; first show was Sunday matinee/all ages at the Bronx and an acquaintance booked this show for a couple days later. This person didn't have the best reputation, so I helped him with shows to ensure that bands got paid and that flyers were put up. When the band arrived they weren't happy about the show being 18+ and that the bar was a strip club on the days we didn't have shows. They were cool to me about the situation and an all ages show was quickly put together at the Ritz Diner, just down the road. The roadie for GD on this tour was Aaron Cometbus, and I was quite excited to meet him and buy a zine. ...The Ritz show was so tiny, not a lot of people." — Shaun Cowan 4

Popular Post solongfromthestars
It's a good thing the Instagram stories are scheduled because as you can see, I keep forgetting. Anyway, 7 years ago yesterday (13 May 2017), Green Day played in Auckland, New Zealand. More photos: Spoiler Even more photos There was also a soundcheck video that day. 19 years ago (13 May 2005), Green Day played in St. Louis on the American Idiot Tour. 26 years ago (13 May 1998), they played in Burlington, VT on the Nimrod Tour. "I've been truly lucky to see thousands and thousands of live concerts over the years, and, truth-be-told, my FIRST (real deal) concert (by myself) was Green Day. May 1998. I was 13 years old. My mom dropped me off at Memorial Auditorium in downtown Burlington, Vermont. Green Day was touring their landmark album Nimrod. As a nerdy-looking kid (coke bottle glasses and gel in my hair), who was 100 pounds soaking wet at that time, I wandered the old auditorium (a gymnasium) and found a seat way up on the wrap-around balcony. I watched the band destroy not only my eardrums, but also what I thought music was. They kickstarted something within me, where I found myself thinking, 'I want to always be around this feeling I have.' (Which was live music.) And, I've been on that quest ever since. So, thanks Billie Joe and Co." — Garret K. Woodward, fan And 30 years ago (13 May 1994), they played in Berlin, Germany on the Dookie Tour. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On this day 7 years ago (14 May 2017), Green Day played a second night in Auckland, New Zealand. More photos: Spoiler 19 years ago (14 May 2005), they played in Kansas City, MO on the American Idiot Tour. 22 years ago (14 May 2002), they played in Tampa, FL on the Pop Disaster Tour. "I wanted to share my little Billie Joe meeting story. I went to the Pop Disaster tour show in Tampa, Florida on May 14th, 2002. It was an incredible show. Jimmy Eat World opened, Green Day was in the middle, and Blink-182 were the closers. Green Day slaughtered Blink-182, by the way. They were so tight and put on such a better show. I actually still have the show ticket and some pieces of confetti with Green Day's logo printed on them. They shot out the confetti throughout the show out of big cannons. Anyway, after the show ended I really wanted to try and meet anyone I could. A fairly small group of fans found a fenced in area where the tour buses were located. We watched Tre and Mike leave the arena and head straight into their buses. We called out for them, they waved to us, but they didn't come over. Billie Joe ended up coming out last and to our utter shock, he started walking towards us as we called out to him. He started at one end of the line and started signing items for people through the fence. I had purchased this foam hand during the show, and it was the first thing I thought to hand him to sign. He was incredibly nice and seemed very appreciative of the kind words from the group. My respect for him grew immensely that night because of this - the girl next to me raised her shirt and asked him to sign her chest. He very politely told her that he couldn't because he was a married man and asked if she had anything else to sign. I thought it was very respectful and cool that he handled it like that. Anyway, that's my story..." — Imonlysleepingx on Reddit, fan 26 years ago (14 May 1998), they played in Williamsville (AKA Buffalo, NY) on the Nimrod Tour.
