I can't with Punk Bunny. What the hell is this collab? Is American Dad even still running? Why American Dad? I miss the days of Oakland Coffee.  It felt less corporate-y and more straight forward. Like hey, here's our coffee. We think it's pretty good. Enjoy.

Since the promotion went away the cardboard end cap at the grocery store is gone and they have tiny shelf space for the boxes that are left at a deep discount ($8.99 a box). Not sure if they’ll restock once that’s gone. The collabs give sales a boost. Now if they would just put out a decaf again.

Someone on Reddit captured my feelings on PB perfectly: Everything about it, from the rebranding to the promotion feels so cringe.

I, for one, am in love with the American Dad collab. It's one of my favorite shows and is consistently funny. I prefer it over Family Guy at this point. Also, they've used Green Day's music in the past on the show, so nice to see them come together for something as bizarre as this, ha.

Also, the American Dad/Green Day artwork cracks me up.

I was just sad Billie was all alone 😭Bad fan, not watched all 10 hours but this is hilarious 😂❤️

You only really have to sit through 45 minutes if you want. They each get 15 minutes, then the bunny gets 15 then that hour loops for ten hours.  Gotta say Billie looked very relaxed ☺️

I love that analysed this, good fan.  Billie does look pretty chilled but I feel his brain is going full belt.  Lots of coffee in that mug 😂

Did someone say cringe?

American Dad thing is pure cringe but this I can get behind 😍. Billie slays in that fancy dressing gown and love how absolutely filthy that bunny suit is lol. Could be the worst fake "burning" Yule log ever though

Got the pack that came with the dookie, American idiot, and saviors themed coffee bags and the hot cocoa for Christmas!  Looking forward to trying them all

PBC is a huge disappointment. Of course I love the band but they absolutely sold out their values for the almighty dollar with this one. When they created Oakland Coffee and no one was making fully compostable pods they literally hired engineers to develop them so that all their packaging was certified compostable. All the roasts came in either ground or whole bean.

Enter Punk Bunny Coffee - where only the dark roast is available in whole bean (I'm a medium roast whole bean guy), none of the packaging is compostable, and they partnered with effing Keurig (gross) and now make incredibly wasteful k-cup pods.

I still like the coffee and will buy it if there's a good sale but I hate that it's ground and not whole bean. I nabbed the trio of limited holiday roasts along with a couple of bags of Last Ride In and, once the LRI was gone, I decided to start with the Fancy Sauce roast......... 🤮 My god it's bad! Thankfully a friend of mine makes a homemade Irish cream liquor every Xmas to give as gifts and I got a bottle of it at the right time to add some flavour to the coffee.

I'll probably try Dookie next since it's a dark roast and American Idiot will be last cause it's medium AND whole bean. Fingers crossed!

I’m wondering if the company was struggling financially being so local. Suppliers of compostable packaging had to be expensive, plus the cost of using a third party roaster and they had extremely limited distribution and brand awareness. Unless you were a Green Day fan and knew it was their company or had some connection to Oakland there was no draw. They weren’t growing. Coffee is a competitive space and people are brand loyal.

At first they even modestly kept the Green Day connection to Oakland Coffee very low key on the packaging and marketing but I think eventually they realized they had to lean in to that and use it if they wanted to sell it.  But their customer base was still pretty finite.

Now with this company they’ve gone all in on what’s needed to build a brand. Partnership with Keurig for packaging, sales and distribution, venture capital and investors, merging with a roasting company, a national brand identity, Green Day front and center on the packaging, eye catching and colorful, something I might actually see on store shelves outside of California.  I hope it does well for them it’s not an easy business but at least this time they’re taking it much more seriously and trying to actually grow a company.

It's all about money. Which makes me sad.

What also makes me sad is you buying Tim's k-cups. Come on... lol

😄 Aw, Timmy’s is iconic. I’m not a coffee connoisseur if you can tell everything made at home tastes the same to me.  Really I miss living in Philly. Nothing beats Wawa coffee.

I’ve tried all the coffees in my 3 pack and I think my favorite is the dark roast for sure.  The medium roast whole bean is a close second.  I didn’t really care for the taste of the light roast fancy sauce coffee too much.  At first, I tried the hot cocoa with milk and was pretty disappointed with how bland it tasted, but I’ve discovered it tastes MUCH better with just water, so I’m pretty happy with it all.

Haha When I visit family in Florida I tend to drink Wawa cause it’s the closest place to get coffee. I wasn’t sure where you lived, drinking Timmie’s. For Canadians, Timmie’s has become an embarrassment for several reasons. If you were in Canada I was going to suggest getting a reusable pod for your Keurig if possible and buying Kicking Horse coffee for it. It’s my fave Canadian coffee I’ve found so far. So good.

I’m not saying I don’t like the coffee (except for Fancy Sauce), but for someone who REALLY enjoys coffee, there’s nothing better than freshly ground beans and (personally) a French press. I hate buying ground coffee.

Yeah there was something about the taste of the Fancy Sauce that really bothered me. Lol I’m excited to try Dookie and AI though.
