Looking at these results, similar to FOAM the top favorite songs were not singles. Maybe SDAHTS and Suzie Chapstick should have been singles?

I'm sure there would be at least 2 more singles once the tour starts

I always seem to put the album on when I am working. Thoughts on Rev Rad?

When Revrad forst came out I thought it absolutely banged. Then 8 played it to death for a while. Still listened to some of my faves in playlists but not the full album for a good while. Then played it in the lead up to Foam coming out and loved it all over again. Rinse and repeat in the build up to Saviors. I think it's as underappreciated as warning tbh. And Ordinary World in one of my favourite songs Green Day have ever done - though I think forever now would have been a better closer to bring the album full circle.

What about you?

Listening to Forever Now right now hahaha. I love playing Rev Rad songs on the guitar. Easy to play and sound amazing. Not a single bad song in the album.

Forever now IS my favourite Green day song (i'm fan since 1994) and Revolution radio grew on me since FOAM (don't like It) and also last month with saviors. As you said, no skipables songs. My only claim on It IS only 12 songs. I think IS the BEST post american idiot album.

The content below refers to notes about voting results:

Spoiler

It is a five horse race in the poll with "Strange Days Are Here To Stay" fairly emerging victorious, "Dilemma" having secured the second place and a trinity of songs which are candidates for the third place ("Suzie Chapstick", "Goodnight Adeline" and "Fancy Sauce").

Best of the rest are surprisingly "Coma City" and "Look Ma, No Brains" (my least likeable tracks). i expected "One-Eyed" and "1981" to be much higher considering most of the comments were supportive, and so i did for "Living In The 20s" because it is impressive.

"Corvette Summer" is low as expected, while "The American Dream Is Killing Me" and "Father To A Son" share the final position. The former obviously because of the amount of time available between its release date and the album release (it was listened to death from most fans here and has been performed in nearly every Green Day show, starting from Las Vegas in October), the latter either because of the minimal similarities to previous Green Day works, or due to it being a second ballad after "Goodnight Adeline" and its placement possibly ruining the tempo between "Living In The 20s" and "Saviours".

I would add the subpar lyrics and the whole Joey thing as more reasons why Father To A Son is not the emotional gut punch it should be and why fans haven’t embraced it

Bobby Sox

Strange Days Are Here to Stay

and it goes between Susie Chapstick and Corvette Summer. But also I'd rank Bobby Sox in my top 10 GD songs in general.

And in addition, I think that the instrumental part is too long to be commercially recognized.

These results show that TADIKM was a bad choice as a single. It should have been Dilemma/ Suzie / Strange Days (Suzie is my favorite one).

And interestingly Father to A Song haven't gained that much attention as I expected. Upon realise I thought to myself - Father to a Son is sweet but quite boring but other fans would surely love it. But it didn't come off.

Singles aren't choosen for fans... They don't use to be the most deeper, soffisticated or original songs... Except jesús of suburbia

Les singles ne sont pas choisis par les fans... Ce ne sont pas habituellement les chansons les plus profondes, les plus sophistiquées ou les plus originales... Sauf Jésus de banlieue

It is not always that case, my favourite songs from "Warning:", "American Idiot" and "Father Of All" and a matter of songs amongst Top-3 from "Nimrod", "21st Century Breakdown" and "Revolution Radio" are singles. But yes, due mostly to their repetition, they soon lose their positive effect on the listeners/audience/viewers.

Father to A Song

Spoiler

i like the times when a less appreciated song is even difficult in correct spelling! If i remember correctly, users have trouble remembering "Take The Money And Crawl"'s name as well.

I don't agree with some of the comments above about Father To A Son, I think it's classic Billie writing really simply, similar to GR, he leaves quite a lot unsaid.  I think it's beautifully understated but I do agree, the long ending with strings mean it probably isn't going to be a radio hit.  I like everything about it.

Yeah I really enjoy the music but the lyrics just feel like they're lacking something. They're clearly from the heart but too vague to grab me. "A place you want more than I could give" is good. But overall the lyrics don't feel like they warrant that grand level of music.

The lyrics' motiv is kindred to "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and "Ordinary World", the music after the first chorus reminded me of "Restless Heart Syndrome" (the instrumentation before the breakdown) and the choruses sound like "when i come around". Lyrics themselves are simplistic (as they were in "Wake Me Up When September Ends"), however do not remind me of other songs' lyrics. The long ending indeed seems a bit as wasted space, where Green Day could instead add a cool outro (in "Outlaws" style - alongside the bridge it was the only remarkable thing in that song) and despite that potential they decided to extend the instrumental and the "Father To A Son" screams.

In no way it is my least liked song from the album, though; the instrumental is captivating and Billie Joe's voice is extremely attractive, except the post-chorus title repetition.

Strange Days, Suzie, Goodnight Adeline and Father to a son would have been / still could be singles.    Strange Days just feels like the perfect representation of the band while the slow songs are what the average person associates with Green Day.   And me, I'm living for a future that has Album 15, the last Green Day album of the 20s.  It should continue to see the band satisfy with what the people want combined with some excellently packaged and crafted experiments.  Heck, steal a song from The Network.  Get Jesse Malin out of his situation for a moment for a collabo.

There’s something about the mixing and the vocal delivery in Father to a Son that bothers me. The way Billie says “father to a son” sounds weird, maybe too nasal, I don’t know. But it’s probably my least favorite ballad of theirs, even The Forgotten I would rank higher.

My top 3 Saviors songs are Suzie, Goodnight Adeline and Strange Days.

TADIKM is easily one of the best lead singles they ever had. The song has the perfect topic for a lead single to gain attention and it has many different parts so it stays interesting throughout listening (I mean, an interlude, a bridge, a solo and a third verse?? How many Green Day songs do have all of these four? 😍)

I agree it sounds a bit weird/nasal especially here. But I think it's just his voice haha

I think TADIKM would have been ranked higher if it was as fresh to our ears as the rest of the album.  We’re just more used to it so it doesn’t have as much novelty to use to its advantage In a poll like this.  I think it was a great choice as a lead single personally.

This part sticks out to me every time I hear the song!  It’s nasal Billie to the max!

Nasal Billie is fun ☺️ Lights Out is one of my favorite nasal Billie songs lol They wanted us to think that song came from the 21st CB era? When clearly it was from the Cigs and Valentines era lol. I mean later we found out it was but still. 😄 He sounded so much younger than 2009 Billie haha
