TheMostExpressivePrice
As we all know, Green Day have announced the "Saviours" tour for this summer and will tour in both Europe + UK and United States. Taking into consideration the band members' claims that both "American Idiot" (celebrating its 20th anniversary this year) and "Dookie" (celebrating its 30th anniversary) will be performed from back to forth (although they did not describe whether that claim referred to a few performances or to a general setlist), as well as having an entire new record in their sword case which shall be treated good in order not to end as "Dos!", "Tré!" (for most of it) and "Father Of All..." in memories of fans, what is your expectation for an average setlist for this period? i guess they will play "Uno!", "Dos!" and "Father Of All..." from back to forth and add "Holy Toledo" and a few old songs such as "Green Day", "Strangeland", "Sweet Children" and "Last Ride In". Hopefully you did not take it literally. Jokes beside, since most of the performances' locations are stadiums, no serious changes will happen to the "Hella Mega" setlist, at least it is what i think. Also i doubt they will play "American Idiot" and "Dookie" from back to forth on average lives. And not many "Saviours" songs seem to have a certain place in the setlist. My expectation for the Green Day setlist for most shows during the "Saviours" tour is the following: 1. American Idiot 2. Know Your Enemy 3. Holiday 4. Boulevard Of Broken Dreams 5. Burnout 6. Longview 7. Welcome To Paradise 8. Minority 9. The American Dream Is Killing Me 10. She 11. St. Jimmy 12. Knowledge (cover by Operation Ivy) 13. Look Ma, No Brains (unfortunately) 14. Basket Case 15. Bobby Sox 16. 1981 17. Rock And Roll All Nite (cover by KISS) 18. Letterbomb 19. when i come around 20. Pulling Teeth 21. King For A Day / Shout (cover by Isley Brothers) 22. 21 Guns 23. Oh Love 24. Father To A Son 25. Homecoming Encore: 26. All By Myself 27. Words I Might Have Ate 28. Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) P. S. If the topic is not worthy, i will remove it, unless the personnel of the community does it before.

amsterdamn
I think: - Dookie - American Idiot - some other Songs every night different, 2000 Light Years Away, Brain Stew, Warning, Waiting, Know Your Enemy, 21 Guns, Still Breathing, Grafitia, American Dream, Look Ma, Bobby Sox, Dilemma, One Eyed Bastard, 1981

But unfortunately it will probably be established. As for "Dookie" and "American Idiot", do not be so certain they will be actually entirely performed live in most shows, instead i see them playing it from back and forth for certain shows such as London or Las Vegas. Yes, though, i would really eager to see the rotating setlist tactic coming back! 1 minute ago, Jon Benjamin said: La publication sur les réseaux sociaux dit « tout l’été » ''Oh dream, American Dream, i can't even sleep, from rainstorms 'till dawn. Oh scream, America (+ rest of the world) scream, believe what you read...'' ("21st Century Breakdown" demo version lyrics) If something sounds too good to be true, you better not trust it. Even if it is your favourite person saying it. This is why i am in doubt. If they have the same available time as in "Hella Mega" in 2021 and 2022, believe me, they will not do it in any case. Only if they actually have more time on stage we could think of this possibility.
stories and songs
I think they’ll play AI/Dookie, four or five songs from Saviors, a wildcard from their back catalog, and Good Riddance. There won’t be time for much else (and that’s already pushing past the two hour mark). The updated tour poster indicates that AI and Dookie will be played in full as long as they’re not festival shows. 2

greendepent
I think it will be AI + something + Dookie and Good Riddance The something part will have Dilemma at their start, because it conects well with Whatsername. They won't have to change guitars and the end of Whatsername is the same chord of the beginning of Dilemma. I can see it happening. I think American Idiot will be played first because the song is a very strong opener for a big show. I just wanna them to perform Fancy Sauce, that would be ideal in the end of the show after F.O.D
stories and songs
@TheMostExpressivePrice It’s not really my opinion, it’s how they’re advertising it: https://www.instagram.com/p/C2ao2dJpvDW/?igsh=dTZ0cHV2ZWs3eXZo. The poster says “playing Dookie and AI in their entirety” with just a few festival shows marked as “non-album shows.” We have zero reason to believe they won’t follow through. Knowing how they’ve operated their concerts for many years now, I suspect they like that there’s a structure to it already in place and they just need to fill in a few remaining songs to round out the set.

This could actually be great as a setlist. You could be right!
disappearing_boy_39
Man, playing Dookie and American Idiot in full will consume significant set time. I've seen them live around 15 times over the last 29 years, so I'd actually prefer hearing songs that aren't played that often, including a lot of the new Saviors songs. Ah well! Mike said "We’ve never done anything like this before. And there’s a really good chance we’ll never do it again." So, this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, and it will be nice to celebrate these milestone albums. I just hope undertaking doesn't burn the guys out!

So it wipes out any possibility of similar celebration for "Warning" and "21st Century Breakdown"? Since 2004 officially, but also since they started unofficially, they are based live on their singles and big hits instead of the deeper cuts. And tend to prefer performing older hits rather than new, which explains why since 2020 only two songs from the period after "American Idiot" are played regularly. And if they do every night different I’m going to need to go to 10 shows. Which in 2009 would’ve cost me under $1000, and now it would be over $3000 (not including flights hotels etc). Also I don’t wanna sit through smashing pumpkins 10 times lol. I hope the second leg is them playing indoor arenas with only one opener and different sets each night! For only $100 a show!

GuitarPunk94
since they wont play the full albums at my show i guess it will be the hella mega setlist, but with some dookie and AI songs switched and instead of some other songs they put in some saviors songs
HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN
My bet is: - Dookie - Look ma/Bobby Sox/1981/OEB - Dilemma - TADIKM - American Idiot - Encore with 3 classics - Good riddance

It doesn't wipe out them doing it for those albums. They may have meant they are never going to do Dookie and Idiot together again. However, if they do celebrate warning or any of the less popular albums it won't be a big event like this. They might just play all the warning singles or half the album or something. The albums really in danger of no birthday party are Trilogy and FOAM.

Oh I didn't notice! Thanks for the info, I thought they would also play them in full at the festivals, the first poster was kind of misleading then. But it probably wouldn't work because the time slots are shorter at festivals. Dookie+AI+new songs+some old stuff really is A LOT. I'm going to 1 festival and 3 "normal" shows, so it'll be interesting to see the difference. Can't wait to finally hear Whatsername live, what a dream come true❤️
stories and songs
@ThatsernameYeah, I’m guessing they have less time and also want to make sure they’re appealing to more casual fans at festivals who won’t really care about deep cuts. I’m interested to see how those experiences will differ for you!
disappearing_boy_39
1. Is anyone else worried that playing two entire albums each night will bore the band members and/or burn them out? 2. On the U.S. tour, how long do you think each band will get? I imagine most outdoor venues will need to end by 11 or so. On Hella Mega, the opening band got 30 min, Weezer and FOB got around an hour, and Green Day got 1 hr 40 min. Both albums back to back will be around 1.5 hrs. So, I'm thinking: 5:30 – 06:00 p.m. | The Linda Lindas 6:25 – 07:10 p.m. | Rancid 7:40 – 08:40 p.m. | The Smashing Pumpkins 9:10 – 11:00 p.m. | Green Day So, GD will probably only have 15 – 20 min for non-album songs
