I hate when records come with posters. I never hang them since I wanna keep the packaging (with the lyrics) intact. And, the creases wouldn't look great anyway. If I want a poster, I'll buy. a poster, haha. So, if I understand correctly:

  • CD: Gatefold Digipak (lawn chair photo) with a booklet and CD
  • Vinyl:
    • Non-gatefold (multiple vinyl colors & lawn chair poster)
    • Non-gatefold w/ slipcase (multiple vinyl colors & lawn chair poster)
    • Deluxe gatefold (black vinyl, lawn chair photo in the gatefold & weird 3D poster)
    • Zoetrope (just the vinyl)
  • Cassette: No idea, lol

Correct me if I'm wrong!

Cassette, solid cassette, paper folded insert that has all the lyrics/cover

  • Thanks 1

If they're not going to do jewel cases they can at least do the digipaks that have the CD tray in them. It protects the disc better.

I don't care too much about the digipak. I'm more surprised by the lack of inner artwork. The lyrics are just typed out on a white background. This is the first album they released like that — everything else from 39/Smooth to FOAM had designed liner notes. And, with the lyric book, we know that art exists! So, it's just odd and disappointing.

I love the actual album though! And the accompanying music videos.

I don't really see what the length of time making an album has to do with it. All we're saying is we miss the days when packaging for physical media had more thought put into it. I think complaints are valid. It's not like anyone is saying screw Green Day!! They gave me a digipak for Saviors! This album sucks!! With how cool the lyric book looked we just thought there would be cool album art too. And it's a shame that it's not the case.  As someone who still buys physical media I do care about the packaging. Does that mean if a CD comes in a digipak I won't buy it? No, it'll just make me wish for a sturdy jewel case.

One thing I don't get is, since they went with the Digipak for RevRad, why did they go back to jewel case for FOAM?

If FOAM came in a digipak, it would have been too much for foam haters - the straw that made their brains explode.  😄

I wish I had gotten the gatefold one, but my hot pink half black vinyl is cool.    The era of packages being great is over, I suppose.  All the cds I bought the last 2 years have been kind of pointless.
