Saviors - Album Discussion

In looking at all the singles Green Day have released, I think Dilemma is one of their best.   Probably in the top 2 or 3 singles ever in my opinion.    I'm not crazy, you're the one that's crazy, everybody's crazy, haha.  Look Ma No Brains is fantastic, but I'm not sure it's cracking the Top 10 Singles list or no.    It might.    Welcome to the new page of this thread.

Bobby Sox and 1981 are my most played songs from the album right now, but it doesn't seem that way in my head....maybe they got played the most last night as I silently played the album on repeated through the night, haha.   I gotta start hitting the Fancy Sauce a little harder.   HOORAH.

How are you counting your plays?

Really appreciate the Spotify streaming updates! Just curious, does Amazon & Apple Music share that data as well? Or, are they not as transparent with their data??

I really hope we get a Making of Saviors documentary because it could potentially answer many questions we've had here!!!
-Did Mike record his parts remotely during the first RAK sessions since Brittney couldn't travel unvaccinated?

-When did the sessions actually start?

-What led to the transition from 1972 to Saviors?

Yesssss I'm so interested what exactly happened with 1972, I know its likely just a renamed album, but was it meant to come out earlier? Was it entirely different? Its crazy no interviewer has raised the topic (Howard Stern should've at least been across it)

and yeah hopefully we get a doco of sorts, I think it will make the light of day in some form or another..

I saw a chart for indie record stores and Saviors was no 1 but I can’t find it again to share.  Am sure someone shared it to FB.

From what Billie said in one of the interviews, I don’t think 1972 was ever the album name. I also think the delay, if there was one, is possibly down to personal reasons so we may never hear them discuss it.

I think 1972 is a working title, like Insomniac's "JC Supermarket" and "Tightwad Hill"

After more than one week of excessive listening, I think my top 5 songs are Dilemma, Bobby Sox, One Eyed Bastard, Fancy Sauce and Goodnight Adeline (in that order). The only one I tend to skip sometimes is 1981, it kind of breaks the nice flow of the record (not always though. Sometimes I'm in the mood for it and I'm sure it will be a fun live song! And I love the lyrics.)

Bobby Sox is definitely the stand out for me on this album. 1981, Goodnight Adeline, Corvette Summer and Father To A Son are my other favourites. I’ve yet to properly connect to Fancy Sauce, I think it’s a grower for me. Still no skippable songs and I think that’s because every song has something going for it, whether it’s a chorus you can sing along to or a bassline or a harmony that sounds next level. It’s a great album. 💕

Fancy sauce is one of the best there. Corvette summer is a little boring song. I don't think a non green day would dedicate time for the song to grow on them.

Dilemma chart positions

Canada Rock - 35
US Alternative airplay - 35
US Rock Airplay - 25

I wonder why it took so long for this song to hit any charts. Fingers crossed this one is able to climb up the charts a bit over the next few weeks

I assume the band didn't want the song played on radio so that TADIKM could stay near the top on the rock charts for longer. This week is the first week TADIKM has dropped from no. 2 to no. 3 on rock airplay. So it makes sense for Dilemma to start making its way up now

In the physical CD booklet, they also mention Henson studios :)

RAK, United, and Henson. By the way, since it only lists these 3 studios, it kinda debunks the theory that Mike had to record his parts remotely while Billie and Tré were in London. What even made us bring up that discussion anyway?

I love Coma City. I know they’ve teased and tapped into 21st Century Breakdown a bit here and there during the Trilogy and RevRad, but this song feels like a true follow-up.
