Guess what? This morning I've got another message. It's now for January 27th... Warner shop... seriously. The worst. And that's just for my Saviors CD + shirt. I guess my signed CD will come somewhere this summer. I'm supposed to get my Saviors vinyl from Warner today. It says it's out for delivery, so we'll see. I really want to stop messing with their store after this. I don't understand how they charge so much for shipping only for me to wait a week to get the album. Plus, they couldn't even use normal UPS. They used Surepost which adds an extra day or two. I complain about them every album cycle, so I gotta resist the cool vinyl variants and just grab an indie variant somewhere else in the future.
Christian's Inferno!
25 minutes ago, Lauren said: It would change a lot. Rock music would come back on the radio. People wouldn’t think I’m stupid for liking Green Day. The band will have more motivation to continue. The record company will give them better budgets. They’d be one of the only bands in history to have 3 major hit records spaced that far apart. Like you can’t get rid of ‘em. I really hope this album does amazing commercially. Popular music these days is really depressing. I want songs in majors keys with guitars again. I listen to music to cheer myself up. It won't do amazingly. It could do decent for a rock band in 2024 but to expect anything huge, even close to the level of American Idiot or Dookie is just going to result in disappointment. I follow how these albums do commercially because I want to know if Green Day or just rock music in general is going to have some sort of mini-revival or redemption after the past decade of it largely being absent from the Hot 100. But I'm not expecting any return to the day's of the 90's or 00's where rock had a big place in the charts and in the mainstream. There have been rock albums that have done well recently. I know people are sick of them being brought up all the time but blink's One More Time has done pretty well, arguably better than any of their albums since Untitled. And that's even after California was pretty successful in 2016 without Tom. But that is a special case where the band (with Tom) has been absent for over a decade so there were a lot of people wanting to hear new blink. Metallica released a new album that had great first week sales (but still only reached no. 2 on the Billboard 200, I guess they were probably just unlucky enough to be competing with some other big popular album at the time) but again, that's because they only release an album like every 8 years or something Even in the extremely unlikely scenario that Green Day's new album was at least as successful as those albums, that wouldn't bring rock music as a whole back to the mainstream. There'd have to be a string of successful rock albums following Saviors that were inspired by Saviors in some way. I mean, that's sort of how the big pop punk explosion of the 90's/00's came about, right? There were multiple popular albums in the 90's by bands like Green Day and then other bands were inspired by them and made their own pop punk music To be successful in 2024, you also need to be successful in terms of streaming and I don't see Saviors doing any better than RevRad in terms of streaming, which just isn't good enough to make a big impact outside of the GD fanbase

They've sucked since Dookie, they should quit, they look like Rosie Odonald, etc. Ew. Of course it's the anti-"sellout" mfs who think they're true punks because "green day sux"

GDC where it's a different kind of drama and I don't know anyone's real name or what they look like. 😄 Like in my head, you are literally a Spider-Man character and Boozy is Mario. And I assume the wrong gender of everyone on here somehow. GDC is better than facebook for sure though, I love it.

Two days ago Suzie Chapstick! They are playing the whole record day after day, so nice to see this love for Saviors! åbenbart kan p4 godt bruges til noget en gang imellem! Now we just need it to hit p6 and p3, although they don't play much rock on p3 these days do they? Speaking of hit radio, I must admit I ought to check into how Saviors is doing here on Swiss stations, but I'm not much of a radio listener to be honest. I could imagine it doing quite well on NRj Rock or NRj Bern or so. Update: They've played songs off Saviors and dedicated an entire episode to the album release on SRF 3 which is pretty cool. SRF is not listened to thaaat much among Swiss radio listeners, it's publicly financed and tends to lose out to the private competition. But being featured on SRF 3 is pretty cool as it is the considered the "youth" channel of all SRF channels and usually plays hits/charts. Kinda the Swiss equivalent of p3. So way to go Green Day! 2

The Rolling Stones' new album Hackney Diamonds did amazing as well - totally deserved because it simply IS amazing. But it was also the first new record with original material in 18 years. And it's the Rolling Stones who have always been more mainstream than other rock bands. Looks like if you don't have their size and status (and age, lol), it's become really hard to reach the mainstream nowadays.

HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN
Found an element of distortion in the sales numbers: https://m.hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=339248&title=GREEN-DAY-ROCKS-THE-RACKS-AT-INDIE-RETAIL “The effectiveness of the triumphant indie-retail campaign won’t be reflected on the Bible’s album chart, given that most of the stores involved don’t report to the trade’s Luminate database. But HITS’ newly launched Indie Retail Top 50chart will compile every transaction, so take a look early next week for the results.” So most of the records sold through indie stores will not count for the Billboard numbers. Another reason why that chart will not actually fully reflect the record performance.
The Grohl
A week later and I'm still bumping that album. I feel I don't endlessly play records much anymore unless I absolute love them. Even with FOAM, which I liked, there was a point where I said okay I'm good and moved on shortly after release. Absolutely love this album.
HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN
“as of Q4 2023, only 72 U.S. indie stores (out of more than 1,400) reported their sales to Billboard chart partner Luminate. That entity displayed its disdain for the indie community by ending its practice of weighting indie sales in its sales chart—to extrapolate for those stores that didn’t report—and only counting sales that were directly reported.” https://m.hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=339251&title=THE-HITS-INDIE-RETAIL-TOP-50-CHART-GOES-ON-THE-RECORD
billy1986
See all the hate all the bullshit Rock gets is why I’m serious when I say keep streaming and get this album to a #1 debut. Who doesn’t want our band to do well? This will as mentioned in another post give the band more exposure have the label continue to market them and will give them more attention…they are a hall of fame band and get unfairly treated so again as a community let’s get a GD album to a #1 spot even if it’s for a week. Keep streaming that’s the way to have it debut higher.

Keep streaming that’s the way to have it debut higher. First of all, a few people playing the album over and over again is not going to make a noticeable difference to the band's first week performance. Secondly, only people in the US will be able to make a difference to the band's performance on the Billboard charts and a lot of people here aren't from the US. Finally, if one person streamed the album in full for the entire first week of its existence (even when sleeping), you'd be able to stream the album 224 times. 224 x 15 (for 15 tracks) = 3,360 streams which equals slightly over 2 units. It would be a lot easier to just buy a copy (or 2) of the new album

billy1986
Idc i think every fan from around the world should help by streaming or buying the record more then once we are a strong community anything to prop up the band if not why be a fan? Just to watch BS music take away from GD and rock music? This negativity sucks
