I think people care about the charts/sales because we love the album and want it to do well, I think it’s natural to want to see it beat the competition! But no, it doesn’t matter ultimately.

I still don't understand why anyone gives a shit about album doing commercially well enough or not. At the end of the day it simply does not matter. Trilogy is my favorite records from Green Day ever and those albums ''flopped'' in terms of album sales and fans reaction. Revolution Radio was seen as ''return to form'', it sold well and fans liked it, but that album is quite literally unlistanable to me thanks to loudness wars (Outlaws is the best example of this - notice how after quiet part your ears start literally bleeding due to how loud chorus it is) and even without production issues the songs are soulless and dull and I never enjoyed the album nor its songs as what they are. Father of All Motherfuckers is seen by almost every single one as the worst Green Day album ever, but even that shit had tracks I listen to this day with Sugar Youth being on top.

Then there is Saviors which is once again seen as ''return to form'' but this time songs are actually produced well and songs themselves (not all of them) feel alive and real - something that was missing from Revolution Radio. At times Billie writes really straightforward and at times he stumbles to his own shit by writing nonsense that can hardly be understood even by his most loyal audience. Still, it very much feels alive and real and themes surrounding this record are honest. Do you know how easy it would be for The Boys to just give in and do a record where they say fuck Trump on every single song? I'm just glad that they're making the songs they want to make and not what everyone wants them to make. That's part of Father of All Motherfuckers charm. It's definitely a record they wanted to make.

My point is that even if Saviors would sell 10 million copies, would that change anything? Would this mean it's literally top 3 Green Day album? Of course not. For me it's in top 5, but I can see why someone else would put it in bottom 5 instead. It's a safe record like Revolution Radio and doesn't offer anything new to diehard Green Day fan. Dilemma will be remembered as the best song from this album (which I disagree with, Corvette Summer is a bop) and songs like Strange Days will be forgotten, but that doesn't mean album is shit. It's good. Really good.

I honestly don’t care about charts and streaming numbers, but I’m a nerd and enjoy the statistic side of it. Then of course I don’t care and don’t think sales are in any form an indicator of music quality, but as a fan of the band I would be very happy to see them on top of that chart.

Spotify is so weird. There are songs/albums that I saved years ago but then when I go onto the artist's page, the songs or albums aren't saved. It's like they put new versions of the album on their page at some point

It mostly happens when license stuff happened or copyright renewal. Sometimes a change of audio quality update.

I was in the car and just heard Father to a son on the radio in Denmark (DR P4)… I was like whaaaaaaaaat ❤️

And yesterday they played Goodnight Adeline! Two days ago Suzie Chapstick! They are playing the whole record day after day, so nice to see this love for Saviors!

I think the label should push goodnight adeline it's definitely got mainstream appeal

This album is so good, reminds me what other GD albuns have in commom, a lot of songs would be good singles (Give Me Novacaine, Whatsername, Scattered, Restless Heart Syndrome) even if it dont ended up being one. Bobby Sox is a really good choice for a single, but Goodnight Adeline would be incredible too, Suzie Chapstick and Father to a Son as well.

Is this based on recent popularity? Seems weird when other Saviors songs are getting more streams.

I also don't care about charts but it's always nice to see the boys doing well. Plus if the album charts well that puts them back in the mainstream spotlight which can mean more appearances in the media, which we all love. Remember how they were everywhere after AI? I think the chart success of that album played a hand in that. At the end of the day I don't care if Saviors teaches the top spot but if they then that's awesome.

Are other Saviors songs getting more streams? I've been looking at the numbers for all the new tracks, I've not been looking at all the tracks that were already released when album released

I feel like Dilemma was supposed to be the big ballad single of the album. But it's not charted at all in the US, not even on the rock charts, so idk

You know what would make Saviors perfect?  Lady Cobra rapping in the middle of it. 

Can we get another single in February?  If not, I think it best to go ahead and open up ALBUM 15 spec thread.....will it have leftoevers and from what era?  Will Green Day do less of that in the future?   How do you followup Saviors? Will it have a black cover, because Green Day have done a black cover the last three records now.   Can we get a sequel song? Like a real Part 2?

It would change a lot. Rock music would come back on the radio. People wouldn’t think I’m stupid for liking Green Day. The band will have more motivation to continue. The record company will give them better budgets. They’d be one of the only bands in history to have 3 major hit records spaced that far apart. Like you can’t get rid of ‘em. I really hope this album does amazing commercially.
 

Popular music these days is really depressing. I want songs in majors keys with guitars again. I listen to music to cheer myself up.
