stories and songs
1 hour ago, pacejunkie punk said: I wonder whether they had a long discussion about whether to release these songs as a standalone new EP given that they’re not Saviors outtakes, or whether to attach them to a deluxe edition so close to Saviors release. Usually those things come much later and people are ready to buy a new version of the album again. But we all just bought it and it’s a tough decision to buy it again, but a new EP under new title and art I would definitely have bought if there was a CD version. I think deluxe albums come out relatively quick these days. Linkin Park’s new album dropped in November and their deluxe album is coming out in May. Looking at a totally different genre, Sabrina Carpenter’s new album came out in August and the deluxe came out in February. Six months to a year seems pretty standard with the artists I’m familiar with, and Saviors is (somehow) more than a year old already.
Popular Post alecandstuff
I think it’s a great sign we’re getting a deluxe. For YEARS this boys have been far behind on music promo, and this new era seems to have new management behind the scenes getting these videos, tracks, and social posts out there. It’ll also tie in nicely with their upcoming Coachella set, which you’d want new music prepared for. Whether you’re a fan of deluxe editions or not, it’s very commonplace these days in music and from a marketing perspective it does a lot to extend the otherwise short lifespan of an album in the current music landscape. That said, I’m happy the boys have a competent team behind them now, and it shows because we are getting FED! 🥳 7

Not even sure how we knew what the name of that leaked clip was, tbh. This is a fun surprise and their first deluxe version in over a decade, I believe. Going to pre-order but holding out for maybe another signed CD. Any idea what might be in the Zine? I wonder if we are getting all the unreleased songs from the snippets https://youtu.be/OQE1n1K5Wno?si=3u4RtGf2AIyZbzEt I wonder if this is Stay young?
GreenDayJunkie86
I got this email from Green Day Thought the Saviors fun was over? WRONG. No signs of slowing down here !! Enter Saviors (édition de luxe), dropping May 23rd. The deluxe includes 5 brand new songs: “Smash It Like Belushi,” “Fuck Off,” “Ballyhoo,” “Underdog,” “Stay Young,” and acoustic renditions of “Suzie Chapstick” and “Father to a Son.” We also have TWO new vinyl variants for you... pink with white splatter + clear with pink splatter - both 2 LPs/double gatefold with some new artwork! Andddd there’s even some new pieces of merch too. Pre-order the édition de luxe + stream "Smash It Like Belushi” now. Can’t wait to see your faces in the desert this weekend for Coachella!! We’ve got a few more tricks up our sleeves the next few weeks (as always), stay tuned.
Christian's Inferno!
It makes a lot more sense from a commercial standpoint to add these songs to Saviors than to release them as their own EP. Just add to the album's total stream count. While I don't like the idea of adding a shitload of tracks to a single album just to pad the stream count, I don't really have a problem with it as long as the tracks are added to the end of the album where they can be ignored if they're not as good as the rest of the tracks. Like, adding a bunch of filler nonsense and 30 second interludes all over the album would just make it a nuisance to try and listen to the whole thing. Besides, if the rest of the tracks are of the same standard as Smash It Like Belushi, I probably won't be skipping them all that much. Obviously, Smash It Like Belushi isn't the best track ever but I still prefer it over One Eyed Bastard and maybe 1-2 other songs on the album.
ekim
I would've preferred an acoustic version of fancy sauce over father to a son 3
Dingle
The three Saviors album version releases, follow a similar pattern to AI, if I remember correctly. The Japanese AI release had a bonus track, and the digital deluxe release with 3 additional new tracks. Favorite Son, Too Much Too Soon, Governator, and Shoplifter, respectively. Imho, I thought the deluxe edition then was awesome and a great addition to the original. So with Fever added, I'm really excited about deluxe version. If the others are as good as SILB, this should be epic. GD, your spoiling us, again.
That Dude
It's great that Green Day haven't had anything get in the way of them promoting Saviors. They've had bad things happens during the promotion of their last FIVE albums so they're smoothing sailing this time around is a real joy.

IIRC during the Rev-Rad a performer died 20 minutes before GD went on and GD (plus the festival hosters) got a ton of flack for continuing the show after the fact (might i add that the festival staff did not tell GD about that until AFTER the set had ended) also this era had the Drone incident and the Oracle Park """""""""""""""""""""Incident""""""""""""""""""""" that led to GD getting ""banned"" from 2 las vegas radio stations
