Cali89
I've never seen Billie wear those shoes before Maybe it was part of his disguise? Just finished watching all the songs they did for this. It looked so cool and fun! Loving all of the promo this week. What an exciting time to be a fan

Popular Post The Grohl
That was fun I like how they couldn't even pretend like they didn't have a crowd going when they were in disguise. You can clearly see everyone lined up in the corners I hate that it's so edited down, so I gotta check out all the other fan videos to see the full performance. Also, shout out to Kevin rocking out in the corner. I see you Kevin! 5

But damn, it really was a movement, and has only gotten better with age and the increased fuckery of our country. I thought it was a great album, and it was 100% right for the times. The US was caught up in multiple wars we didn't have any business being in, the country's leadership was corrupt as hell (and oh my god it only got worse), and a lot of young people were just mad with no real way to express that. I heard it as an angry, topical album about current events, and when Bush won a second term I figured that was kind of it. It would become just another part of Green Day's back catalog, remembered fondly by fans but nothing more than a footnote in music history, an artifact of the times instead of something timeless. So, yeah, seeing videos of people singing American Idiot outside of Trump rallies in 2016 and 2020 kind of shocked me, and the response to AI in this video was another reminder of how important that album is. Maybe it really is timeless, or maybe America just hasn't made good on promises to the youth of 2004, 2014 or 2024, and AI will remain relevant until it does. Or forever. Forever's cool. 40-ish years from now, when I call it a life, I want AI played at my funeral so everyone in attendance can realize at the same time that they still know all the words. 3

Oh, she was right behind me during the performance, and we got to talk for a couple of minutes before they started playing. I just shared that I was excited (and I that probably I would have cried), and she seemed thrilled. She also mentioned that it was her first time seeing it live when doing this promo/TV stuff (but I'm not a native English speaker, so I might have misunderstood that). 5

I'm kinda sold on the idea of a "Greatest Acoustic Hits" album, then it's just the guys turning some of their biggest songs into acoustic versions. Except Good Riddance. That one gets the full-on arena rock treatment.
