Agreed and I find it really ironic that at a time when everyone (ok, many people) are trying to be open and accepting of everyone else and their lifestyles etc, we are so busy labelling people.  Are you Gen Z or X, is this dad rock, etc.  As I have got older I cannot believe how quick people are to look at me and make lots of assumptions, it really pisses me off.

Especially because this will ultimately happen to every generation. Green Day was one of the biggest bands when I was a teenager and that was only 15 years ago. Now I’m almost 30 and people who are younger than me enjoy different stuff (not all of them, obviously, but a majority of them). But in  20 years from now, teenagers probably won’t listen to Taylor Swift or The Weeknd anymore, not because these aren’t good musicians but because they’ll have their own idols. That’s just the way it goes.

Can we please let the term "dad rock" die? I don't care how It's used, the term is so fucking cynical and dismissive of a song's quality. Much like "mumble rap".

Also dismissive and derogatory of fathers.

We haven't even heard the song Father to a Son. Do we even know it's a ballad? The review doesn't mention it as a balld, just as acoustic dad-rock

Idk why you're so angry all the time. Every time I see you comment here you're complaining about something or calling other artists shit

It's definitely a ballad Italian billboard article described it as an acoustic ballad with strings and piano

If you worrying about reviews and mad at what they saying, your doing music wrong. That and worrying about chart placement is weird as a fan.

Looks like GDC always looks to refer to outside opinions but cries about it at the same time.

Sucha shitshow GDC

Looking for positive reviews and when someone doesnt agree while then they suck! They are attacking your favorite band! why not wait for your own first listen instead of getting upset on what the others say and what terms they use LOL

Worst GDC'er by far, use the ignore command if you disagree with an opinion.

LOL how this forum is so sensitive!

I feel like Dad rock is basically dissing singer songwriters like cat Steven's James Taylor etc something some moron zoomer came up with to justify their terribly forgettable era of music

After one go, I would say my fav song is (or will be) Susie Chapstick, next Goodnight Adeline.

As mediocre and generic I would point Comma City, Living in the 20s and Good Days Are Here To Stay.

Production/mixing seems to be fantasic, guitars sound fresh, it's got the rawness, catchiness.

After one listening I can't yet form a proper opinion, but giving just a quick one, on plus side: great production, raw and punchy guitars, kind of reminiscent of 70s punk like The Ramones and even (some parts) 80s glam-rock like Def Leopards, Bon Jovi, Kiss

On the minus side I would point: repetetivness (like in Comma City for example). We got the chorus but it goes on and on and eventually it may get boring, also: no song which could be flaged as ambitious and multi-layered. But taking a longer view, on the whole, the album was not supposed to be next AI/21st in terms of lyrics and structure.

EDIT: As an afterthought, I'm glad that they didn't choose to compose an experimental, a weird song - no falsetto, no annoying vocal filters etc. The whole album seems to be really consistent regards to sounding and structure or at least more consistent than Foamf.

Anybody know the details of the embargo on Saviors?  Written reviews are out, but what about YouTube reviews?  Can us talking heads start reviewin? because I'm ready.  Also, the record label still hasn't emailed me back.  Maybe they will let me hear it 20 minutes before everybody else or something, 😄   Or at 11:59pm on Thursday, lol.

I love it.  Definitely a top 5 album, maybe top 4.   Corvette Summer is the weakest link but even it isn't a skip for me.     Lyrically, they have fun with the darkness, and the lyrics are edgey.   Even without the F bombs and Gosh Darns, Saviors would be parental advisory for adult themes of sex, drugs, violence, suicide, etc.
