A Worry Rock

Me and @Montclare are at the reckless one in Wicker Park! Are there any other GDCers here?

The voice memo isn't something copyrighted so I'm happy to share it for anyone that wasn't there

The store I was at didn’t play the voice memo, so I appreciate it!

Didn't win a shirt (not that it would've fit anyway 😄) but since we're not a huge market and I brought my mom along to increase our chances of winning, we all got extras of the pins, posters and booklets! I set them on the table in the meantime until I find somewhere to put them (boo, work at 6 a.m., gotta go to bed), and Kenny's already trying to walk all over them 🙄😄

I love Suzie Chapstick, and I really liked Corvette Summer; I felt like the songs everyone was digging at the store and online were my least favorites, but I think I at least liked everything I heard.

I'd love to get a lyric book and pins if you're willing! Sadly Australia only had shirts and posters

If anyone at the DC party was curious if there were extra shirts the dude at the counter said they didn’t (which I think wasn’t fully true) after the second listen through.

Ps if anyone saw someone in a black jacket and caps jersey tonight in a chair - hello 👋🏻

Does anyone know if the signed CD's that are indie store exclusives are available to pre-order at any store in Australia?

I was there as well! So much fun to hear the new album with other fans. I very much appreciated that the store played it twice back to back so I could take it in again.

I was the guy dressed in all black in one of the two soft chairs around the coffee table. Go Caps!

Were the shirts that hard to come by? I walked in about 2hrs before event time and they gave me a shirt just for asking. Then later on when everyone else showed up at show time they won the other 2 by raffle, did I just get really lucky? I even got their only Medium 😁

Nice! They had three at the DC event and raffled all off. I think you may have gotten lucky!

Portland's parties have both been postponed. One, to Wednesday, and the other TBA due to snow and 'extreme weather'.

To say I'm bummed is an understatement.

How cool! Which listening party did they show up at? I assume somewhere in LA? If it was the Oakland one I'm going to be so mad I didn't go

The listening party was fun!  Only the three t-shirts though, so bummed I didn't get one of those.  But they had plenty of everything else.  There was a lot of me turning to @The Grohl going, what song does this remind me of?  (finally figured out what Father to a Son was reminding me of- the "Is there anything I can do" line reminds me of The Decemberists' Make You Better).  The beginning of Corvette Summer reminded me of Hit Me with Your Best Shot.  A few call backs to other GD songs as well.

On first listen, excluding the ones we already heard, I'd go with Living in the 20s, Suzie Chapstick, and Fancy Sauce as my top ones.

The listening party was pretty cool! It was kind of funny and awkward that everyone stopped and stood around the store to listen. Our crowd was pretty quiet - kept to themselves, but still good vibes. We didn't get the recorded memo :( instead the clerk started the event by Rickrolling us first! I was into it (it's a good song!). Reckless had plenty of freebies (pins, wristbands, posters) but seemed limited on lyric books. They only got 3 shirts and raffled them off. They also gave away a framed Saviors album, the Saviors LP, and a CD copy, which was cool! Some folks got physical copies of the album early! No prizes for me, but at least I got all the freebies :D I went to another record store nearby to see if they had any signed CDs for pre-order, ended up hearing the album again, entered another raffle and STILL didn't win  At least I got more pins and another lyric book.

Overall, I think the album is great! Really like just about everything and already have my favorites (Corvette Summer, Living in the 20s, Bobby Sox). Definitely recognized some riffs - a lot of them reminded me of other GD songs. A recent review remarked that Saviors is a focused album and I agree with that. All killer, no filler. More than anything I think it's so cool that Green Day did a worldwide listening party a week before their album officially releases. It's a cool way to get together a bunch of Green Day fans and experience something awesome together. I love seeing GD fans out in the wild! I feel like most people I encounter scoff at Green Day, so it was nice being in a room full of fans listening to this highly anticipated album together. Thanks @Montclarefor joining me! It was great to meet up again :)

Physical copies? Given away? Early, you say? 💦 👀
