Montclare
Interesting seeing GD mentioned on CNN. https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/04/entertainment/billie-joe-armstrong-time-of-your-life/index.html
jengd
This reminded me, he said something like he had hurt feelings but wasn’t bitter about the break up which I thought explained the song well.

'Hurt feelings but not hard feelings' I thought that was a really good way of putting it too! 2
Popular Post Alan86
I also really liked the segment that he talked about his mom. She has lived through so much historical moments. And to be 91 and still going for a walk everyday and still have that self independence, it's amazing.

Weren’t they also another of Ben Weasel’s bands he goes back with them to Screeching Weasel (Mike played with them) and Lookout Records
Popular Post The Grohl
Great interview! I normally can't stand Dax, but gotta say he was a great interviewer who knew his shit and remained engaging throughout. Love to hear Billie being honest about his substance issues and that he's currently sober and doing well 🤗 Really fun interview! It feels like we've got the full version of Green Day stories and factoids we've heard before. Billie seemed relaxed and like he enjoyed himself. Just wish it was actually 2 hours and not Dax and Mina (?) in the last 40 minutes or so. I don't want to hear them without Billie 🤣

So cute. I know they’ve been friends forever, but that put into perspective just how little they were and how special that bond must be. When I think about my nephew who’s ten, it really does remind me how young that is. To know someone that long, grow up with them like Mike and Billie did, it’s amazing.

Oh I know it was the riverdales thing, but I thought it had some other meaning since a few other people they knew got one tatted as well. 51 minutes ago, pacejunkie punk said: When he mentions Elvis Costello as one of his favorite songwriters 🥰 I’m also very glad he’s been giving so much love to the replacements, Husker du, and siouxsie (look at the button he has in the alt. Press photos) lately.

Popular Post Squashie
Greatly enjoyed this while driving last night. The magic leaves story gave me a good chuckle. I too wish it was the full 2 hours. I love listening to Billie tell stories and remanence about their beginnings. I'll be listening to this again because I'm sure I missed something.

There’s no budget for music videos anymore and they didn’t have to bother but they financed it themselves. He’s like, what else am I gonna spend my money on? Yes I loved that abd they had their fans as extras

Popular Post Vintage Disciple
God I LOVED this! LIke others have said he is so relaxed and open in this interview. So many great moments...the magic leaves with Mike? 🥺. So much honesty in this. Didn't know how Dax would be as an interviewer but was pleasantly surprised. Also, his story about knowing Jason White was cool. I sincerely hope Bilie considers doing more interviews and podcasts like these. Absolute GOLD! Howard Stern would be a good interview if he did a one on one like this podcast. 🥰
That Dude
We gotta hear music made by Billie and his dad. I can only imagine how good that would be.
peachesandzebras
I found this so comforting and relaxing to listen to. The laid back vibes felt refreshing in comparison to the more rapid-fire-questioning interview style that often produces a stiff, less genuine feeling conversation. I loved the cadence of this that gave adequate space for storytelling & would love more! 3
That Dude
Couldn't get away with Suzie Chapstick remaining a Bosa Nova song? You dang FOAM haters ruin everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's fine. I'll make it with AI or something.

Saviour
Pretty good interview. The interviewer (I dunno who he is TBH) seemed to have done his research pretty extensively in some areas but not in others. Like he knew some pretty remarkable details about BJA's life but didn't know that Jason White still plays with the band? Lots of stuff we'd already heard, but in long form content like this you always get to hear stuff you haven't. BJA's recollection of the early days is pretty remarkable considering. I did find the editing jarring at times though. There were some pretty egregious edits in many of BJAs answers for whatever reason. Assuming it was for brevity reasons as there was a distinct lack of "y'know" throughout, but there could've been stuff that they decided shouldn't make the cut.

Saviour
Also surprised with a number of Oasis / Gallagher brothers references. Wouldn’t think they were really on his radar.
Popular Post Beathe.
I really liked the parts were he talked about his parents and siblings. And the magic leaves so freaking cute. 🥰 I'm impressed that he is so open about addiction. Sad to hear that he was struggeling on their last tour in Europe. The interviewers overall had good questions, but not knowing that Jason White plays with the band. Come on.
