Billie posted this photo (left) on Instagram yesterday, which appears to be from the set of the Armchair Expert podcast (right) with Dax Shepard. Looks like Billie may have been interviewed for the podcast, hopefully we'll find out soon.

Cool! He’s finally doing podcasts.  Maybe that’s what the Whisky A Go Go photos were from too they were posted together. I thought that was backstage at the Whisky. 

From the About section (maybe someone can copy it here?) he focuses on people with personal struggles including sobriety and other issues so this should be interesting.

From the few interviews we’ve seen so far this promo cycle, I’ve gotten the vibe that Billie might have some things he wants to say about his sobriety journey (the focus on Dilemma’s lyrics, him commenting in that radio interview that he just got out of rehab, etc.). Which isn’t something I expected, since he was initially pretty adamant he wouldn’t talk about at length after his interview in 2013. But I have a feeling his thoughts on the whole thing have probably evolved a time or two since then. It sounds like if you’ve dealt with addiction, you’re definitely going to be talking about it on this podcast because Dax Shepard is a recovering addict, and I’d be really interested to hear that.

I always enjoy Billie’s solo interviews though, so he can talk about whatever and I’d be happy!

Great idea! I've added the About section to my post. 😀 I'm looking forward to this, it'll be refreshing to hear a long-form chat that's outside of the usual press junket dynamic.

Marc Maron (of the WTF podcast) mentioned on an Instagram Live that he was interviewing "The guy from Green Day" this past Monday. I assume it's Billie.

Always hoped this would happen. Maron did a great interview with Rivers Cuomo several years ago.

I’ve been hoping for a Billie / Maron interview for a while. Given that the band is in soCal so often I’ve been thinking it would be easy for him to get over to the garage.

I know, I was bummed when the host started wrapping it up and there was still 45 minutes left to the episode.  It was a great chat, really relaxed, a lot of new stories and insights. This is why I wanted him to do more podcasts. So much better than an interview with a radio station or magazine

That was a fantastic interview! Billie’s insanely good memory and great storytelling abilities make listens like this so fun. Loved hearing about his family, his dad driving advice, and finally learning why he’s obsessed with bottle rockets. 😂 Also really loved the “fuck yeah” to if his life is better sober. 🥹 Good stuff all around.

(One nitpick is that Billie started to talk about the Dilemma video in the beginning and Dax changed the subject and I really wish he didn’t lol.)

Great podcast! It’s not one I’ve heard before so went from “oh my god, I can’t believe this two hours long, that’s amazing” to “shit, that’s Billie finished”.  As @stories and songs said, great to hear him speaking more at length about growing up, his mum, Adrienne, Project Chimps etc.  They covered lots of topics but would have liked to hear more about Saviors and the videos and less from the guy.  He started to ask about writers block, inspiration etc but they kind of went off in another direction.  Great photos accompanying it too.

Good interview. I thought maybe the host cut off BJA a few more times than I would have liked, but it was offset by the host asking generally better and more thoughtful questions, and appearing to have done more research than other interview hosts recently. 

Interesting to hear that Billie’s sisters used to play dress up with him. I’m sure he’s mentioned it before, but this is the first I’ve heard of it. I wonder if that influenced him to explore cross dressing later in his childhood.

It made me wonder whether it was the inspiration for the line in King for A Day: “Started out at the age of four…”
