One thing I noticed about the video is it almost seems to be trying to be funny even though the song is really depressing and personal. Or at least that's what I've seen people take from the video, like thinking Billie going into someone's home all drunk and stuff is funny and in a way it is. But watching that video kind of just makes me sad. It's a good video. It just makes me sad seeing Billie acting like that. Even if he's just acting

I get this.  It can be odd saying "I enjoyed this video" due to the subject matter, but I do.  And it is split into parts, the hey, this is fun, and then, oh shit, until it isn't.

I do wonder about singles, how much they push what.  LMNB was getting attention due to the Taco Bell commercial, but I wonder if they don't push it for that very reason.  I hope they push this one.

I see what you are saying and I think Green Day are past masters at taking a very serious subject and making it relatable or understandable for people.  I think the video is open to interpretation.  With no knowledge of Billie’s addiction you could just look at it as a fun video about partying hard and the consequences.  I like that he is acting in this and he does a really good job, albeit he is portraying things he knows well.  I also think and hope that it means he is doing well when he feels he can write, record, share and perform this song when clearly, for him it is very serious.

Fantastic song.  And fantastic video.  I think this song hits so differently than Still Breathing.  . Brutal Love is one of my favorite trilogy song, and this one speaks to me in the same way.  In a way, it makes Still Breathing sound pretty naive to the whole post rehab scenario.  Such a slippery slope addiction.  One of the things that resonates with me is wanting to be able to have the fun, and being around someone with issues, and still having a part of me want them to be a part of the fun.   It's why I find it easy to turn a blind eye to it at times.  And then boom, you're at the not fun part, and the impact on friends and family is honestly brutal.  It's really hard to be honest about that part.  It's a lot easier to diminish the impact and deflect the damage.  If Billie is doing that work in his real life, well I give him credit...  In terms of this song tho, lyrics, guitar riffs, just a total banger.  I really have liked all 3 songs so far, and they have all piqued my interest in different ways.  I am super excited to hear this album from start to finish.  Bring on Saviors!

That’s the same way I feel about Lazy Bones off the trilogy. Dilemma is kind of the dirtier, harder version that gives me the same vibes.

Videos for the album thus far are fantastic, with Dilemma and American Dream being particularly epic!! The creativity and videography are top tier, and the consistency (black and white with more color added consecutively across the releases) yet style uniqueness of each of the three singles blows my mind.

I think the ambivalent feelings might be part of the story and the intention. Most people think drinking is just fun, everyone is encouraging you, like the band mates are encouraging Billie in the video (you can almost hear them say "Oh come on, just one drink!"). And it might be just fun as long as you're not an addict, then you have a drink too much and a headache the next day and carry on. But for an addict, it can be the start of a downward sprial and the fun turns sour. I think the video portraits that in a fantastic way. Yes, it makes me sad too because the struggle must be so hard. I have a sober alcoholic in my family and somehow, being reminded of how hard it must be, it makes me even more proud of him (and our Billie of course🥰).

As a licensed  mental health therapist who’s bleeds Green Day and who battles with PTSD/Depression/Anxiety this song and video just speaks volumes. This, Still Breathing, Lazy Bones…amongst others just speaks truth to mental health and addiction I feel it’s an accurate and sad video I feel it’s “funny” until the video shows Billie is the brunt of the joke then it subtly flips to the dark side of the party. Brave and honest lyrics as someone who struggles with mental health and do my best to help others I truly think this song can save people and have them seek help. No BS I hope this single blows up and I hope Billie is in a great head space he really is in peak writing firm hear and I can almost feel the hurt in his vocals similar to wake me up and still breathing I feel it’s so genuine and it’s just beautifully strong and inspiring by also respecting the topic.

So far, we got three songs and I really like the diversity in terms of sound and lyrical content. TADIKM sounds like it was inspired by 21CBD while LMNB sounds like Insomniac/Ninmrod with a modern twist. Dilemma definitely gives me RevRad vibes. Still Breathing is the obvious comparison but it also reminds me of Outlaws and Bouncing off the Wall (yes, really). This is why I believe that this album will have a little bit of everything, especially because OEB sounds somewhat FOAMy, even if we haven’t heard the official version yet. I like that. Getting an album that reflects the band‘s entire discography would be amazing.

Concerning the song‘s commercial success: I don’t believe that the band will have another smash hit with mainstream appeal but it really doesn’t matter, does it? They had plenty of these songs and now they’re in a position where they can do whatever they want without having to worry about commercial success. The album is pretty much guaranteed to debut very high in numerous countries and they can sell out big stadiums. They’re in a phase in their career where other things are more important and it’s not like no one is listening to these songs. The general perception is a very positive one. Of course I want them to do well but in my opinion, they ARE doing well. It’s a good time to be a fan right now and that’s the most important thing.

The bridge is killing me, it's so good. This song combines Billie's more melodic, pop-orientated songwriting with the traditional GD guitar sound and neither sound out of place with the other.

Was thinking the same thing. In my mind I hear Hayley's "ooooh..." right after the first verse because it sounds really similar to Crazy Girls!

Yeah, for the music wankers, the addition of the minor 6th note to take the Amaj chord into (I think - little rusty on my theory) an FAug chord at the end of each verse refrain, and just before the chorus kicks in adds a melancholy feel. It's a great touch. 

That reviewer said "someone's been listening to Weezer", and yeah TBH my first reaction was "Make Believe" era (AKA their darkest album) vibes.

This song makes me cry, I love it.  I'll let my son hear it tonight and see what Gen Alpha thinks.   They are the Green Day fans of tomorrow.
