They haven't had a "mainstream smash hit" since at least 2009. Even if it's their most successful single post-21CB, that won't make it a smash hit. I think the days of Green Day "mainstream smash hits" is long gone

It’s going to take the mainstream cycle to come back to rock for this to happen, and it will probably be a young angry band when it does

Oh Love was on the hot 100 and all singles from uno were in full rotation in my area until the clear channel ban.

They haven’t had a smash hit since clear channel fucked them let’s be honest on that.

They have had solid back catalog rotation and the newer singles got good airplay when they were new and relevant on alt rock stations.

I think this song is solid though and if the record proves to be strong it will build traction. It’s not even released yet but definitely already has a lot of positive comments about it. The people will dictate the story. On the albums after Uno they got abandoned by core fans and the public atleast when it came to the consumption of new music.

yeah, acting wise, he was brave doing the fake vom scene while making it look realistic and not actually gagging

aside from them not being that gross, someone who worked on the video talked about getting to make fake vomit

First of all Billie looks fabulous 👌  and the song is so on point, I'm glad he's being vulnerable with this. I think brinhmging awareness as well when there is still so much ignorance about addiction

I’m right there with you on this and my own journey - this song hit differently for sure just for how accurate it was.

Also interesting to think about GD songs that surround this process and the order they appeared: lazy bones to still breathing to FOAMF (generally) to Holy Toledo! to Dilemma. All of these together really speak to this perpetual cycle and learning to live with addiction.

When you put it like that it’s so interesting and so true with addiction. Ugh, I love this band.

I wonder if this song will chart

I think it will chart on the rock/alternative charts at least. I think LMNB wasn't intended to be a serious single. I think it was just sort of like Fire Ready Aim, a pre-release single but the promotional focus was more on Father of All and Oh Yeah, and I think this time around, there's gonna be more focus on TADIKM and Dilemma probably

One thing I noticed about the video is it almost seems to be trying to be funny even though the song is really depressing and personal. Or at least that's what I've seen people take from the video, like thinking Billie going into someone's home all drunk and stuff is funny and in a way it is. But watching that video kind of just makes me sad. It's a good video. It just makes me sad seeing Billie acting like that. Even if he's just acting

Fantastic song.  And fantastic video.  I think this song hits so differently than Still Breathing.  . Brutal Love is one of my favorite trilogy song, and this one speaks to me in the same way.

Love that you compared this to Brutal Love, because both songs also hit me in the same way. They carry that same ache of being someone or loving someone who is struggling and trying to battle through the ugliest parts of it.

Brutal Love is a song that still affects me the same way it did when I first heard it, and I feel like Dilemma will be the same.
