Gonzalo17
Can some one that knows about live music explain me why they use 3 guitars playing the same chords in some songs and 2 in other songs. I was surprised about this and how they change the guitars and bass in different songs. Last year i saw NOFX and they play with the same instruments the whole concert. Karol Oliveira
I haven't watched all the videos but I imagine that with this setlist now there's only one chance to go up on the stage during KYE and no more guitar giveaways, right?! Or are they letting a fan sing Longview as well? Edit: watched a video of Longview in Lyon and there was no fan singing

Edit: watched a video of Longview in Lyon and there was no fan singing Indeed, at least for the show in Lyon there were no fans playing instruments, no guitar giveaways. Just one person came on stage to sing 5 lines of KYE. I think it's been the same in the festivals so far too.

In some songs the tuning of the guitars is different (by example the Dookie songs and TADIKM, tuned in E flat), so changing guitars is faster than re-tuning them. Then the give-away guitars. And of course it's part of the show, some guitars fit better to some songs. And refering to 3 guitars playing the same chords: the sound gets thicker nevertheless because no one is strumming at the exact same millisecond. During studio recordings you also often hear 4-6 guitars at the same time, to get a bigger sound (especially since 21CB). And sometimes you can see that they play different chords on stage (by example Billie sometimes plays open chords while Jason plays power/barrée chords and/or Kevin plays lead guitar parts) 2
marekpipe
Hi. They will play this evening the Rock am Ring Festival here in Germany at 22:40 German time ... It seems that all the bands are broadcasted online on https://plus.rtl.de/video-tv/live/konzerte/stage-utopia-konzert-nuerburg-nuerburgring-08-06-2024-993795 (perhaps with VPN?) ... Hopefully Green day will be also shown ? His guitar is more an overdub
Scotgro
Really annoyed, but due to not being able to travel because of work, I'm no longer going to make the Glasgow show. I have 2 x tickets for sale for Glasgow 25th June 24 and I'm happy to sell at a discounted rate as there're still general tickets on sale on Ticketmaster for £80.80 I've listed these on Ticketmaster for £60 each at the moment I can send the link to purchase them or if anyone would like to offer me anything for them.

His guitar is more an overdub I noticed this while watching video from bits of Madrid and Lyon. He stops playing in the middle of songs and you can’t even tell, everything sounds the same. It’s weird for a band that was always a trio he doesn’t even need to play anymore
stories and songs
While I appreciate the professionalism of wanting a song to sound good no matter what, I do find it weird when artists use a backing track to fill in their voice when they stop singing or add extra guitars to fill in their own if they stop playing. I totally get the thought behind it, but I’d rather be able to notice when something live drops out than have it make little difference.

Billie guitar can be heard at the top of the Others but it is not a rhythm part as it was before anymore ... His playing is more for entertaining when they have the Others in Stage 1

His playing is more for entertaining when they have the Others in Stage Yeah he used to play rhythm while Jason played lead and the third guitar was just to fill in rhythm for songs like St Jimmy where he didn’t play at all. Now I think Jason and Kevin pretty much play everything and Billie just adds some power chords and flourishes 1
Hermione
I think it's more to add overall extra sound and power to the performance than to "fill in" when Billie stops. More guitars (and vocals) just gives a bigger sound. But it also frees him up to interact with the crowd more.
Flashback
In Bullet in a Bible Jason's guitar is also much louder than Billie's in some songs. Bx example during the solos of American Idiot and Holiday. You barely hear Billie's guitar there. But I think it's totally fine since Billie's job as lead singer is also to be an entertainer.

Or was he doing more just behind the amps? Jason White does an incredible job and he doesn't like the spotlight so is the perfect guy to do what he does.

Popular Post Tomcat20
I Iove this band to death. I've seen them so many times and have been listening to Green Day for 20 years now. I was at their show yesterday and will see them several more times over the next days and weeks, simply because I love this band. But honestly, the live shows have gotten worse, shorter, and less interactive since the 21st Century Breakdown tour. It feels like the band is rushing through the set. They are getting older, and I understand that, but that's just my opinion. The 21st Century Breakdown tour was the pinnacle of their live performance.

It was, but there’s nothing to be done about that. They’re still doing two hour sets. It seems like another no win situation for them. When they do a lot of fan interaction, people complain it slows the show down and they don’t have time for as many tracks when Knowledge, HAR and KFAD take forever for instance. Then they remove them, cram 37 songs into a setlist, playing two albums in full, and people say they’re rushing through the set and there’s no fan participation. Well do you want to hear a lot of songs or do you want more people pulled on stage, Billie lying on the stage ranting and singing covers and ten minutes of Hey-Oh’s Bugs Bunny style? Maybe you want the t-shirt cannon back? 4
Insomniac90
Tbh this tour is far better than Hella Mega and I‘m totally happy with it. They‘re doing a lot Fan interactions and playinf over 30 Songs for about 2.5 hours which is great. the only thing I‘m „disappointed“ is they disn‘t play Dookie in full because they went 10 min too late on stage and finished at 1am like it was planned. Sad we didn‘t get dookie/AI in full as Pro Shots. But the show was great and I‘m completely tired after 12 hours at the stage

Popular Post Cali89
Is it just me or does it seem like people complain no matter what they do? Lol. Everyone's allowed to have opinions and that's totally fine, but I think we should be more grateful they're doing something as cool as performing their two most popular albums in full. I'm so excited to see it! I'm also just glad they're touring in general, and from what I can tell, seem to be happy and healthy
billy1986
I just hope a the American leg they play all of Dookie and AI plus some new songs in between. Sucks they didn’t play all of Dookie last time and only 1 song from the new record that’s why I’m worried with the 3 bands they are bringing especially smashing pumpkins….how Green Day will have enough stage time to play all these songs. So sorry guys 😭 Maybe someone else was more successful?!

But don't worry, you were surely not the only person to record a band like GREEN DAY, while they were livestreamed for free. Some recording of the whole thing will come up, don't worry A recommendation for future live stream recordings: I use OBS Studio https://obsproject.com/ and it records the screen (so it's not an app within a browser, if that was the cause of the blank screen) and the audio that is being played on your computer. You can also digitize VHS or play old game consoles if you happen to not have a TV.
