A little late to chime in here, but the more I listen to this song, the more it grows on me! Don't think this song will have quite the mass appeal that TADIKM does (even that one won't have as much compared to previous records)

I do however think it's a great track for fans of the band, and while I do think Mike's bits are a bit buried, along with the vocals in general, I think the actual arrangements are super good! Gives me hope for the rest of the record! Here's hoping we get another single drop in December as well!

I just listened to Look Ma, No Brains! for the first time on headphones. At 01:27 there is a guitar slide on the right speaker going to the higher octave, that sounds so cool!  Everything about that song is totally fun!

i noticed stuff like this too

i listened to look ma through my laptop and my stereo sound system and the instruments were too loud so you can barely hear the singing etc

but with headphones on, you can hear all the juicy details of everything

it was the same with TADIKM, i recommend listening to this new LP with headphones

I think what I like the most in Look ma is how the lyrics and the music intertwine into something different. I really feel when BJ sings "I'm so far away" with the change of key and the lead guitar is a descent into madness.

Then I got two different different messages. One is the Brat-like, where the song is about a total asshole that gets everything he wants, with no mind of collateral damage he does to others. The other one is a heavy take of impostor syndrome, where he describes himself as a fool, but goes too far and is successful. Is kinda the message of I was a teenage teenager, but from another angle.

This is good stuff.

i'd say it is to do with the promotion of the album kicking up a little more since, but perhaps it is more liked as well

LMNB really reminds Trilogy (that catchiness, simplicity, 60-70s vibes) but what most important - it's like scented with Insomniac. That's what I think makes it attractive and fresh.

That, along with "I'm special and I don't need your help" coalesces to make some of most scrumptious lyrical bites we've gotten from Green Day in a long time.  It's a song that can be both dumb and smart at the same time.    There's something special about this song.
