I remember at the time he made that comment the impression I got from it was that he meant not from a songwriter’s perspective but from a listener’s perspective. He was saying how he doesn’t have the attention span to listen to a long song and doesn’t think anyone else does anymore. It still may have been bullshit but that was my takeaway.

The other bullshit thing he was saying at the time which to me was more out of character and ridiculous was the whole thing about not wanting to hear feel good music, shut the fuck up about your feelings, rock music should make you feel bad, blah blah blah. Like wtf Billie all you do is write about your feelings. One interviewer called him out on that statement and his response was pretty funny. He said he can write about his feelings because “I feel awful” 😂 I laughed about it at the time but it was probably a pretty good glimpse into his mental state then.

Foam makes me feel good, as does a lot of really dark, twisted music.  I think when Billie said this, he could have meant bad in a good way, or simply meant he wants to make people feel emotions with the songs.   It's hard to explain, but when he said it, I got what he meant.

Thanks @pacejunkie punk that was a good one, missed it at the time.

In the iheart interview, the interviewer asks about a documentary and they dismiss the idea, so either all that speculation was wrong or it was aborted I guess.  I think, and hope, there will be one, but maybe in 10 years or something.

So the young actors wasn‘t for something like a documentary or movie about them. I guess we will never know

the "fancy sauce" Green Day speak of is the rap part of Nu Metal.    "Fancy Sauce" will tease what Green Day 15 will sound like.    Instead of a combination of Dookie and Idiot, it will be the clean parts of Linkin Park mixed with the nastiest, heaviest parts of Slipknot and System of a Down.      Billie will be the savior of Linkin Park because he's the ONE dude that could fill in for Chester.    Well, Mike and Tre could probably do it too, but that's a little beyond my speculative posting cababilities.    You guys would get very upset if I said Tre Cool or Raj could replace Chester.         But yeah, the newer, older HEAVY METAL / NU Metal Green Day.    And the new Green  Day-esque Linkin Park.   2027 BABY!

So in this interview, Billie said that The American Dream Is Killing Me was written 4 or 5 years ago, but in an earlier interview linked as a source on WIkipedia, Billie said it was the last song written for the album? I know its not important but im confused x-x

That's just one of these extremely strange things of the FOAM promotion... Billie's cameo in a rap video. Just why? 😅

it confused me too ... but maybe sth got lost in translation or whatever? maybe he wrote (parts) of the song many years ago, but for the actual "full band/studio" writing/recording process it was the last song they worked on?

or its just billie being billie :D (still waiting for the forever now music video) 🤣

I'm really curious about their marketing strategy this time. If I remember correctly when they started the FOAM era, they had several appearances on TV shows. Hopefully they don't stay silent too long since the streaming and sales charts start to decline again. Would be a shame, because TADIKM did quite well so far. I'm sure it would be more successful on charts than FOAM (single) when they would do more promotion 🤔

@Flashback Right now, it just seems on the early side to me to be promoting too hard. I expect after Christmas they’ll have some TV appearances. And in December/January they’ll probably have some good magazine interviews, too. I imagine this time of year, it’s hard to do promo without it getting lost in the holiday shuffle. Doing stuff like the Amazon show and the Grey Cup were smart early promo moves, but I’m thinking the more robust interviews will happen a bit closer to album drop.

I could see them playing on Ryan Seacrest's New Years Rockin' Eve. Also, have the Game Awards performers been announced yet?

If they do a NYE performance it will be prerecorded like it was in 2019. Coverups are doing a live show that night (much like Longshot was that year)

I hope they shoot out Taco Bell combos into the crowd and dump Baja Blast all over us.      Taco Bell guitars, outfits, the works!    Taco Bell stations all over the venue.

I would settle for a Taco Bell App-exclusive Green Day combination box or something like that.
