Didn't they say TADIKM and Father to a son were the last two song written for the album?? But here Billie says TADIKM was written 2-3 years ago.. Doesn't this mean they had all the demos ready by the time FOAM was released?? and it took them 3 and a half years to record Saviors(1972 originally) ?? That’s including rehab 😉 But I agree the timeline seems a little off.

I think that from the interviews TADIKM was the last to be finished off, Billie had the idea started for a while and Rob really pushed for it to be on the album, and it was recorded last. sounds like a similar arc to Butch vig with horseshoes and handgrenades
Popular Post stories and songs
Yeah, writing time doesn’t have anything to do when it was actually recorded. Both things we’ve heard about that song’s creation can be true at once. I’m REALLY pumped that they’re intending to play more off of Dookie and AI than normal as a celebration of those anniversaries. I think there’s a chance the Saviors Tour could give us a serious setlist shakeup for the first time in many years.

Better late than never. Amazon listed all tracks when albums up for presale orders over month ago, and included album summary "Right from “The American Dream Is Killing Me” — the first single and opening track from Saviors, Green Day is sending out a fiery SOS for these troubled times. Amazingly, Saviors represents Green Day's 14th studio album, yet somehow this enduring power trio -- Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool & Mike Dirnt -- remain devoted to their defiant craft that has fueled their career-long destruction of every boundary bestowed on the genre, and landed 3 East Bay punks in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. So even as the band acknowledges its illustrious past — such as with the 30th Anniversary of their now classic Dookie album and the 20th Anniversary of American Idiot coming 2024 — Green Day remains firmly focused on the here and now. Saviors features 15 tracks, and from the aforementioned opening track, "The American Dream Is Killing Me" to the blissfully ironic “Look Ma, No Brains!" to the fittingly emotional track, "Father To A Son,” this is a deeply felt song cycle that provides the soundtrack for our world on fire – the one we deserve, and the one that we need. The album was recorded in both London and Los Angeles under the audacious ear and rock prowess of Green Day's longtime friend & collaborator, GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Rob Cavallo. Need a little inspiration to live on to fight the good fight another day? Fear not. Saviors is coming soon." Three songs mentioned, two already singles, so FTAS next? 6

That Dude
So far, it seems like Dookie lyrics with Idiot instrumentals. Hopefully there are some that are the other way as well. Some that blend them all up in a nimrod blender. Some that could be from one album or the other....and some totally new stuff.

Popular Post HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN
Lot of shit happening in my life and ended up having the most distant pre-release phase since I became a fan of this band in 2004. Kinda happy with it in the end since I didn’t over consume the two songs we got so far as I did with other releases in the past, and listening to them again today I still got that fresh excitement feeling. Might be because of this but my hype for the record is growing so much ❤️ Since I’ve been away from the fanbase conversation for a while, did we get any concrete hint on which song will be the next single and when it will be released?
BUBBYBUB
On 11/1/2023 at 11:11 AM, MillenniumFan said: That's not really comparable though, because in that clip he's just singing an octave deeper more generally. I think it's a combination of what @Ryan said and ageing that is to "blame" for his voice change. The "bellowing" effect on american idiot and during live performances is using a lot of chest voice which can and usually does, for a lot of people, especially singers, get weaker with age. So I think ageing changed his voice and consciously adapting to that process and in order not to strain his voice and permanently damage it (axl rose anyone?), he's choosing to use a different vocal technique. also let's not forget that part of the "deep vocals" effect on american idiot is down to filters, as you can hear clearly in this side-by-side comparison (15:45). Now yes, live and to some degree in the studio, he did put on a "bellowing voice" but it's likely that if he had kept doing that his voice would have worn out super quickly. I remember him sounding very strained throughout the early trilogy tour (2012). I think after going to rehab, he made a conscious effort to look after his voice more, which is why he has sounded more "high-pitched" since then. Plus that he took vocal lessons during the 21CB tour. So, yes, to some degree it's a choice (besides the fact that his voice has also generally got more high-pitched over time), but what kind of a choice is it if you're choosing between preserving your voice or permanently damaging it? again, love me some 2000s Billie vocals, anytime, but that age is well and truly gone now, so I'm happy he's even able to sing as well as he still is. How many 50+ year old rock singers do you know that sound as good as great as he does? That's because he had a great voice to begin with

That Dude
I messed up. I'm releasing a song on Spotify December 14th, which will hopefully give Saviors enough breathing room to find success. I wouldn't want my meteoric rise to fame to take anything away from the boys. If I see them struggling from high atop my golden thrown on top of the music industry, I will thrown them a rope if they need. Lord know Green Day have helped me more than once, it's the least I could do. But I think we'll be okay. I kind of do a longshot type thing where it's a "band" but not really. Anyway. I got sick of American Dream is Killing Me, but now I'm back to listening to it and I'm not sick of it anymore. YAY! And I've never gotten sick of Look Ma, No Brains! He's really saying Mom and not Ma. My son loves it, my dad says he can't understand the words. And my dog is kind of neutral on it. Everybody's pumped for Father and Son up next, but I'm telling you there's other gems on the album that are INSANE and would get a lot of attention as a single. Maybe. Father and Son could be the fourth single after that. Then Bobby Sox as a final fifth? 1

And when and how that will be announced and promoted. They're not gonna answer that question in advance at a Interview. One question I'm sure they would be ok with is to tell us the journey to the new album? Starting in London. Was there originally an EP planned? And what happened to 1972 idea for instance. 4

They seem to have a really healthy relationship with their craft nowadays. They're doing what they love and putting real effort into it. If people like it, great. If not, they're content knowing they followed their passion. They also understand that, even if an album or a song doesn't get widespread acclaim, there will still be many who love what they're putting out (lots of people did like FOAM, and it's safe to say the Trilogy's finally been embraced by most of the fans). Anyway, that's a great way to approach life. 8
