Ok I think I need a new single already. Can’t wait to listen to 1981 in a proper studio version!

Yes. And maybe one we've not heard yet. A ballad that may generate interest from mainstream. Jan 19 seems a long way off.

But wait, we've already heard 4 songs in one form or another, that's 25% of album. Another would be a third before album is released. Not sure now.

That was so weird. Admin running round like headless chickens, in a total panic. Yer can't download it, say where it is, don't even mention it, they'll close the site down. It's Armageddon, we're all doomed. Then the announcement, "it's ok folks no worries its only old demo". And there it resides on TikTok ever since for the whole world to hear.

Then shortly after, two more leaks, new complete songs mysteriously appear, only for a few seconds each, then they are gone. (Fortunately, I downloaded them in time).

Leaks, really. Or was it just a gigantic tease. At least it used up 100 pages or so of 1972 thread. 😄

And looking back, it's obvious the mods knew all along OEB would be on Saviors. Because if you noticed, like I said, that they didn't care too much about those other leaks

They didn't?  I thought all leaks were prohibited?   But where is the line?  Greenday.fm have all kinds of audio stuff that never had an official release.  Is that stuff sharable?  Like She Gave Me Water and stuff like that?   Did the mods really know?  And if so, how?

really? I remember one of the mods telling us to forget about OEB cause it wouldn't be on the album. I might be wrong

No they didn’t, you keep saying this after mods responded that they did not know. Some mods get a heads up about upcoming promo or release dates, but they do not get a play by play of what the band is recording or doing on a daily basis

Yeah but they also get a lot of shit. 21CB is where a lot of people say that the band died and RevRad was just not that successful of an album despite having a decent number of fans. They're the most popular post-AI albums. But they're still genuinely pretty mixed in terms of people's opinions. Considering the trilogy and FOAMF are absolutely hated by a lot of the people who love their discography from 1990-2004 so much, being the most popular post-AI albums isn't a very high bar

Fans may prefer Dookie and American Idiot over the other albums pre-21CB but those albums, Nimrod, Insomniac, Kerplunk, even Warning nowadays are generally liked more than not

Warning is the one that really turned around. I think it has to do with the evolution of the fanbase. Those that came around during AI and post AI eras are more likely to be open minded to Warning and receive it positively.

The Dookie and early GD crowd were more likely to run but they were also the established audience when the album dropped. Warning was still a positive step for the band though, there was still a lot of Warning love for Green Day. The poster made it to School of Rock even. The Green Day logo from Warning was also one of the most prominent Green Day logos ever. If you grew up in the 2000s you can see the stick figure in your head right now.

The album was also heavily downloaded at the time it dropped. If that wasn’t an option it would have atleast hit Platinum certification without issue.

Well there's 15 songs, they could release 5 singles still have a full ten track album on the release date Idk if that's the best strategy but people live for singles more than albums now that's why spotify is so popular

Is @dudley dawson able to tell us about the mysterious night of October 4th yet?

The night before there was a listening party for industry insiders people from the grammy's rob cavallo was also present I'm sure other top brass were included my guess was to get everyone on board to support the promotion for saviors

I think some mods get exclusive content given to them and like to hold it over others heads to it's not really about not wanting the band to be upset it's about ego and willing and dealing

It's like do not distribute this here! Now excuse me while I go listen to all these leaked songs and send it to certain members it seems fkn corrupt and they should be held accountable

No one member should be more powerful than the next and mods should have to follow the same rules and regulations as the rest of us but we all know that's not the case there's definitely hoarders here and on green day reddit because these songs exist to us for a reason

Good point. Although, @Christian's Inferno!  made an alternative good point, that listening to the whole album from start to finish, in the order the band has issued it, especially for the first time, gives the listener the complete picture. Are the songs connected, is there a theme running through both the music and the lyrics, and just loosing yourself as you journey through the whole length of the album.  So my preference is the latter, although I respect those who wish to stream individual songs.

Bang Bang, Revolution Radio & Still Breathing were all released alongside their lyric videos before the album released. Still Breathing & Revolution Radio were only released as singles later

Oh Love, Kill the DJ and Let Yourself Go before the release of Uno. I think Nuclear Family released before Uno too but wasn't an official single?

FOAMF's first single (the title track) released 5 months before the album release

What's happening with Saviors is not unusual for Green Day

Nah, Revrad and Still Breathing were released in September. Before the album comes out.

That's what I said... Before the album was released in October... AKA September

Tre Cool being serious throughout.   Wild!

Why does Billie think their 90's albums are actually shorter than they are? Back in 2020, he would always mention that Father of All (26 minutes) is their shortest album since Insomniac (33 minutes) when actually FOAMF is just their shortest album to date. And here he says Dookie is 27.5 minutes long when it's almost 40 minutes long

I noticed that too.   I went and looked it up right when Billie said that.   But it is interesting that he talks about playing Dookie in full every night, even though I personally wouldn't want that because ya know, there's 13 other albums to cover....but I'd totally understand if they did.    Everyone in the crowd would know every single line, every note.   It'd be cool.    I just want some Dos and Tre representation in the mix.     Stray Heart, X-Kid - bring em on!

I think that’s album length but he could be talking about the time it takes to play on stage. They might play a little faster and without song breaks so they get it down to about a half hour.

When was this interview??

Didn't they say TADIKM and Father to a son were the last two song written for the album??

But here Billie says TADIKM was written 2-3 years ago.. Doesn't this mean they had all the demos ready by the time FOAM was released?? and it took them 3 and a half years to record Saviors(1972 originally) ??
