Remember the good old days of Rock N Roll where everybody had a "smash your tv" song?  😄  Back then, Billie was watching it but nothing was on.  In longview, I think he did the best thing he knew how to do.   Himself.

😀

What else is Saviors about?

Yoga?

For the record, I don't have any problem with him using the words he uses in his songs. I just don't think the way they were used were necessarily good. Nobody's listening to these lyrics thinking "Oh I'm so offended he used that word", they're just thinking "Ok... that's a weird thing to say". Like it for sure has a meaning, Billie isn't just saying "We're pedophiles" and if I see people who think that, I will make fun of them, but the lyric doesn't come across to me as some really profound lyric. It doesn't ruin the song for me but it's really just awkward tbh imo. With Drama Queen, I get the meaning behind the lyric. It's not something that grosses me out or anything but it's repeatedly so much and I'm just thinking "Ok Billie I get it. It wasn't that interesting the first time, it's not the 12th time". I'm so glad DQ wasn't on 21CB like it was originally going to be.

The use of TikTok is completely fine with me if it fits with the song. The mention of TikTok isn't going to date the song when TikTok's been around for a while and will continue to be for a long time. And Green Day mentions a lot of media and politically dated stuff all the time. That being said, idk if TikTok fits in the song all that much. Billie mentions it alongside things that conservatives complain about like immigration and taxes. But... TikTok is a bad thing. It's really done bad things to society, to our attention spans. It seems weird to lump TikTok (a bad thing that conservatives happen to dislike for whatever reason) with immigration, which adds value to the country, and taxes which is a necessary thing

Conservatives specifically single out TikTok for hatred because it’s GenZ’s app of choice for organizing against them politically. It’s a big reason behind why they wanted it banned.

When will we know which tracks are Explicit and not?  The singles, 1981 and Cyclops have been relatively mild pg-13 language.  I want to know how many F bombs, Mfers etc.

Yeah my point is though, I think it's weird to lump it in with immigration and taxes even if the reasoning for conservatives dislike of it is dumb. Because overwhelmingly, I think most people agree that TikTok has had a bad effect more than a good one

Lots of people on both sides complain about border policy and taxes too. Idk, I think it’s a minor point.

I watched TikTok every day for a year. It was the worst my mental health has *ever* been by far. I think it is so dangerous for our emotional regulation, our attention spans, and our ability to distinguish between what matters on social media versus IRL. Not to mention the horrifying group think mentality on there. I was an adult experiencing all these terrible side effects of using it daily and finally figured out I needed to stop in order to feel better. What the heck does it do to kids and teens who use it and aren’t old enough to understand how it is negatively impacting them? I hate to sound like an old lady, but I genuinely do worry about what its long term impact will be on our society.

I agree that Billie lumped it in with taxes because it’s just part of American life now.

Cell phones in general.  We are addicted to them and the powers that be know that.  So they've made it more addictive and made it a money making monopoly just like everything else in life.

What if Saviors is fake and the album is actually called 1972?  It will contain American Dream and Look Mommy, I Do Not Have Any Brain Matter but everything else is different.

The Drama Queen and paedophile lyrics are both good as far as my opinion goes. The argument ‘they could’ve replaced the word with [less emphatic word]’ shows why they didn’t 🤷🏼‍♂️ Use a strong word to make a statement. If anyone interprets it as ‘we’re actually paedophiles’ then that’s obviously idiotic, and any other take on it must be acknowledging that it’s a metaphor, so why is it uncomfortable? (Or, rather, it’s SUPPOSED to be uncomfortable). As for Drama Queen, it’s not my favourite song but again I think it’s quite a well written metaphor, it’s not like Billie is just pointing and saying ‘LOOK! PERIODS!’ for a laugh…

Okay I am gonna borrow this from Billie from now on. I am a pedophile for this chocolate, I gotta stop eating them

Easy on chocolate and mcribs, guys.   Actually, that mcrib might vanish at any second.  Go crazy on that thing!!!!  Get the recipe!!! Destroy all Mcdonalds!!!  Take back the quickly made foods!!!  Clowns and Grimace shakes are destroying everything!    Starbucks!

Oh sorry.  Cringe.

I take the TikTok reference alongside taxes to mean social media is a permanent thing now, an update on death and taxes.

Love this interpretation!

Nothing lasts forever.  Not even cold november rain.

I can honestly say I've never used Tiktok.    Facebook,  Youtube and GDC are my addictions.

Even if the "TikTok and Taxes" thing is just a play on death and taxes and saying "social media has become a permanent thing" in the same way that death and taxes are, doesn't stop it from seeming out of place in the song. Like, look at what rest of the verse seems to be talking about: immigrants, unemployment, homelessness. Then "TikTok and Taxes" is just sandwiched between these things. It doesn't fit there

I’m personally really excited to hear Father to a Son because as far as I recall, Billie has never really gotten vulnerable in a song about being a parent, but his family life is something he clearly values very much. It feels like uncharted territory for him, songwriting wise. I think the song will probably be about the impact of becoming a father had on him, and I’m looking forward to how he reflects on that.

Is there a new interview coming out soon?

It supposed to be 10pm central time but I'm on the app nothing on there except a promo for tonight

I'm sorry but "Billie loves his son" would absolutely not make it acceptable for Billie to publicly release a pro-Joey song at this point. Nobody is asking or expecting him to hate or disown his own son, he can fawn over Joey in private all he wants, but to publicly release a song praising him on the first GD album after the issue was revealed after not addressing or calling out his son's behaviour at all would not only be tone deaf but also downright insulting to Lydia and other victims of grooming/coercion/child abuse. It'd be a complete slap in the face to fans who have unfortunately had to experience something like that, especially since Billie/GD have presented themselves as supporters of women and victims their entire career.

I'm really not expecting the song to be about Joey, mainly because I don't think anyone involved in this project would be dumb enough and/or outright cruel enough to let that happen, but on the off chance it does turn out to be, that will be me done with this band.

Dude I felt the same way when Weezer released their song records

Relax Drama Queen is a beautiful song and I wouldn’t take it literal it’s more of a metaphor meaning the woman is no on her own and can bleed by life being hurtful…the pedohile line is I think a clever way to call out a perverse obsession people have with social media in general again…not literally…father to son from interviews seems like it’s about Billies father….also free speech no ban or writer should be cancelled or exiled for words.
