The way they described bobby sox in the Italian billboard article is wild but again grain of salt because people hear shit differently I'm willing to bet whoever said it's gonna sound like weezer with metal chorus like Linkin Park is gonna be proven inaccurate the reason being they actually consider Linkin Park metal lol

I mean Chester's heavier vocals are metal.

Their first 2 albums are nu-metal, which is a subgenre of metal characterized by rock/metal and hip-hop. For those first 2 albums, Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn cover the hip-hop side of Linkin Park mostly while the guitars, drums and Chester's vocals cover the heavier/metal side

I have no idea if what is said in the article is accurate or not and it's best to take it with a grain of salt. But the notion that Chester's screams are not metal is not going to be the reason it turns out to be inaccurate

When I think of metal vocals I think of bands like helmet Pantera early metallica and how would that transition into a weezery style song? Just doesn't add up

Now this song sounds like a mash of weezer and Linkin Park especially the chorus

I hope these are actually on the album, but who knows?

Whoever did this is pretty good though, they even pitch-corrected OEB. At least the version I have has been pitch-shifted.

But i find it odd the two other leaked snippets haven't been released in full like one eyed bastard was back in may

I really need to ask you this, just out of curiosity, but why do you always quote yourself on your posts? 😅

Do we know that this Billboard track-by-track-review was really published somewhere? What I find strange about this text on reddit is, that they never really wrote their opinion to the tracks, just similarities, but for the track Saviors, the text says that the song is unremarkable. I think it's strange that the writer doesn't seem to have an opinion to any of the songs, just for Saviors and this opinion is quite bad. 🤔

It was published by Rolling Stone Italy and then removed.  I wonder if when they play these records in advance for journalists they ask them not to reveal too much too early. This track by track breakdown with lyric samples was a little over the line I guess

@Flashback It was on the Italy website for a while before it was taken down, that’s where I read it. But I agree that the track-by-track is very strange, especially regarding the song Saviors. I feel like the writer didn’t hear it or something, not because they said it was unremarkable, but because they gave pretty vivid descriptions of what all the other songs sounded like and couldn’t be bothered to describe Saviors beyond “not good” lol.

Sorry I thought it was RS but you could be right it was Billboard. Either way it was a reputable publication so surprised it got through some editor in the first place before someone on the GD team obviously cried foul

You might be right @pacejunkie punkI actually edited my comment after you said RS, because I think that was it. 😅 As you said, in any case, it was definitely published on a reputable music website and then removed. It wasn’t just a Reddit rumor or something!

I would think we won’t start getting those detailed reviews until late December/early January. It doesn’t come out until mid-January; November seems really early to me to be getting a lot of info.

I would think they'd have to do it soon, because we got Thanksgiving and Black Friday next week, and I'm pretty sure there would be a spike in Saviors pre-orders, especially on  Cyber Monday

@GDFan2019 That’s a good point. I just wonder how much it helps the band to have reviews out two months early, you know? Yes, it might result in some pre-orders, but for a lot of people, they might read the review and say, “huh, I’ll have to check that album out” and then forget by the time Jan. 19 rolls around.

It’s definitely awkward timing because of the holidays.

the more i think about it the more likely it is to me that 1981 will be, at least, a promotional single, they seem to really like that song. i'm just waiting for the day i wake up and there's a notification on my phone saying "Green Day just uploaded a new video: Green Day - 1981 (Official Lyrics Video)"

Especially since it was the first Saviors song they debuted at the Quebec festival in July!!!

I know the chances are almost zero, but I might politely ask for an advance of the album.   I'll tell them I am That Dude, the one who loves even Trilogy and FOAM - I'm sure to give it a glowing review.  I might even boost sales by like 5 people or something.   You never know.

I feel like it would make more sense for 1981 to be the fourth single and the 3rd single to maybe be a more "ballad" type song in the vein of Still Breathing or even Oh Yeah! (except better than Oh Yeah hopefully). I'd be fine with 1981 to be the next single and only other single to be released pre-album release because I'd rather not hear more than 4 songs from the album before it releases but from a commercial standpoint, it would probably make more sense to release a ballad

will father to a son contain musical references to WMUWSE? i think that would be cool, they don't have to be obvious, maybe they could play the starting arpeggio at some point of the song. i think that'd be cool

The Saviors wiki claims that tracks 3-13 have been leaked by Genius and Reddit!   They must mean 1 and 2 or something like that. It also says that 1972 is the same as Saviors and they just changed the name.  Was 1981 originally called 1972 perhaps?

I have a feeling Father to a Son will be the next single, based on the songs mentioned in the podcast with Mike

If they really wanna sell this album to the masses,  they need a song with emotional connection look how well the beatles new track "now and then" is doing. green day can achieve that same success they've done it quite a few times before "father to a son" sounds like it could be the song that bridges the gap and brings in those loyal michael bolton listeners lol

Yeah because it says both were leaked before American dream was released my guess they meant just some lyrics because I'm on green day reddit quite often if something like that popped up on there I would've definitely noticed idk about the genius site though

Don't they just mean the track names were leaked? I don't think they're talking about the songs themselves, or the lyrics

Though, idk why they said 3-13 instead of 3-15. It wasn't even really reddit or genius that leaked them, they were leaked on music stores and that leak would've made its way to the GD subreddit and Genius.com

I also think that a ballad will be the next and "big" single. Didn't American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown really blow up when the ballads WMUWSE and 21 Guns were released?
